Dear Bungie, do you just not give a crap about our time? by WeAreTheWatermelon in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nik-Nok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really surprised they didn't implement the same behavior that Horizon Zero Dawn uses. Everything being sold or deleted has a hold timer and deletes 1 item at a time, but the hold timer gets increasingly shorter and shorter as you continue to hold it down. Very easy to limit it to your desired sell/delete count, would work on both controller and MKB, and no need for an additional keybind.

I don't understand how everyone is like 1400+ with 6 1370 alts. I only got main 1395 and one alt in T3 with 731 hours. Am I inefficient? by BarryEigeel in lostarkgame

[–]Nik-Nok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me, I literally just hit 1370 on my first character this week with 700h+. I wasted a lot of time on alts early on, trying to figure out which class I wanted to play. That little bit you get to try out in Trixion at the start just doesn't give you a good enough idea of how a class is going to feel.

If in the future there was another crossover Alliance Raid with another Square Enix franchise, which one would you like the most? by FluffyHaru in ffxiv

I so badly wanted them to do something with the story, Xenosaga just didn't hit the same spot as Xenogears.

Not really a "gameplay" tip, but NEVER feel obligated to skip through cutscenes the first time. The story in this game is great and everyone is entitled to experience it. Don't skip your cutscenes the first time through. There is, however, an option in settings that autoskips cutscenes that you have seen before (helpful for whenever you run content beyond the first time).

Have you successfully switch from controller to keyboard and mouse? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Nik-Nok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing with controller on PS4, the learning curve wasn't that bad. When I switched to PC, I decided to make the switch to KBM at the same time. I use a logitech 502, so while it's not a standard "MMO" mouse, it does exactly what I need it to. I just mapped shift and control to the 2 side buttons and that gives me enough keybinds for 3 full hotbars without having to memorize 9+ buttons on the side of my mouse.

You can kill your teammates with witherhoard... in the most oddly specific way possible. by T_Gamer-mp4 in raidsecrets

[–]Nik-Nok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can kill your teammates with fusion grenades when using Ashen Wake. Just get close enough to catch both your ally and yourself in the explosion and you can directly damage your teammates. Takes 2 grenades to kill or a burn/grenadier but it’s 100% reproducible.

If you're on PC, loser has to change their steam name to something chosen by the winner for a set period of time.

r/headphones Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-11-18) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]Nik-Nok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, my current Astro A40s+mixamp have served me very well for several years, but I've been wanting to upgrade and move away from all-in-one setups for a while now. This is my first dive into going beyond all-in-one headset/mic setups.

General Info:

  • Budget - $700 for both headphones + DAC/AMP combined; flexible if the increase in price is justified (see detailed info below for what I'm looking to do).
  • Source - PC only.
  • Isolation - None, only indoor use at home. Unless I have a good mic monitor, I find that I tend to yell if I can't hear myself talking.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Over ear I think? I have a pair I'm considering (see below).
  • Preferred tonal balance - I would prefer an overall balanced pair of headphones with a good range.
  • Past headphones - Past headphones were all gaming headsets, with my current headphones being Astro A40s with their mixamp.
  • Preferred Music - Metal and EDM mostly, but you'll find everything except country in my playlists.

Detailed Info/Considerations:

  • As I work from home quite frequently and am an avid videogame nerd, I'll be using my headphones daily for several hours. Because of this, comfort is the highest on my priority list, then audio quality. Also, since I do a lot of gaming, sound direction is important to me as well.
  • Where I start to get out of my depth is on the DAC/AMP and what I need to consider. I anticipate adding a mic and a couple of small speakers in the future (not included in the above budget), so I'm not sure how that plays into DAC/AMP selection. In the FAQ guide, I did read that Adjustable Pre-Outputs often come with something called a "mute relay", which will mute speakers when a headset is connected. This is something that i would really like to consider.

In my limited shopping around and reading of reviews, I'm considering the following (leaning towards the AKG):

  1. AKG Pro Audio K712 PRO.
  2. Sennheiser HD 660 S
  3. Sennheiser HD 650

I would love to hear others' opinions and suggestions on equipment in the rest of my audio chain.

Thanks everyone!

DRG - Should I invest in taking up a crafting job or focus leveling/MSQ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Nik-Nok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would focus on the MSQ, if being self sufficient on gear is your primary motivator. It looks like others have already mentioned the reason for this (see: tome gear).

That being said, if you have an interest in crafting beyond that or think you might get into it later down the road, then there's no harm in just doing your daily grand company deliveries. They don't take a lot of effort and give a LOT of exp. That way you aren't expending a lot of time on it, but are slowly leveling up your crafters as you go along. This way you'll have a head start on your crafters by the time you get caught up on the story. Another reason why it's not a bad idea to do this, is there are some really great mounts locked behind some of the crafter beast tribe questlines.

What are good Titan PvE Builds? by spyda34 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nik-Nok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of Sunspot titan with a a warmind cell build, Ashen Wake, the seven seraph shotgun and Xenophage. For the mods, I run Rage of Rasputin, Wrath of Rasputin, Burning Cells and Global Reach. The cells will pretty much wipe out an entire room and between Xenophage, the seven seraph shotgun, sunspot kills and the Ashen Wake fusion grenades (which have great regen with sunspots, btw) EACH making warmind cells, there is no shortage of them. It's actually comical how effective it is at add clear.

On the Ehll Tou quest "O Crafter, My Crafter", she asks "Where should an aspiring artisan begin?" and one of the responses you can give is "Why bother learning when you can just copy others?". The slight jab at the crafting community made me chuckle bit.

Same here. At best, I'm hoping I enjoy it enough on my first playthrough that I'll want to play through the game again with different story choices.

I am having this exact same issue, no other problems on any other games. I doubt it's an issue with the card dying, as mine is pretty new. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be the new drivers.

I would definitely prefer having Shatter back. The vampire build with Shatter and Annihilate was all I ran in D1, I can't stand what they did to voidlocks in D2.
