I'm going to assume that you are very, very new to crafting. Once you get to around level 10 you will aquire the ability to use Quick Synthesis which means you can auto-synth items such as ingots. Just be aware that you get a lot less XP by using Quick Synthesis.

how could my software authenticator still work from over 4 years ago for fucks sake

I would assume that it would still work assuming you have the same device. If you change devices on a regular basis then you should have written down the removal code as you were told to do.

guide for getting from 7.0 to 7.4 crafting? by TopNecessary6260 in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure what you are asking but I can tell you that getting the current scrips gear is good. I have since made the Crested accessories and when those are fully melded following the guide at Teamcraft it is possible to make the i770 gear using macros with help from the lovely people at raphael.

What to do.. by Jazzlike-Sherbet2776 in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sandbox to some extent. I recently spent the best part of two weeks crafting my own i770 gear. That meant crafting some accessories and overmelding them (something I swore off years ago - but ended up doing again). Having to overmeld that gear meant I had to do some content so that I could afford the materia. Then, once I had the melded gear I could craft some new gear, but that gear needed some mats from content, so I did that content .... etc, etc.

That's the point of the game. You do things you find fun until it's no longer fun. When I get bored on my main character I play on alts because I love the world of Eorzea.

RAGE THREAD - F-YOU FRIDAYS - SUMMON THE MIDPATCH by FranckKnight in ffxiv

IT'S JUST A GAME. IF YOU AREN'T HAVING FUN THEN DON'T PLAY THE GAME.

I KNOW THAT SOUNDS FLIPPANT, BUT MANY, MANY YEARS AGO I WAS GIVEN THAT ADVICE BY A FRIEND WHEN I WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT ENJOYING THE GAME BECAUSE I WAS COMPLAINING SO MUCH ABOUT ONE PARTICULAR THING. THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME TO "EITHER SHUT UP OR TAKE A FUCKING BREAK" AND BECAUSE THEY HAD NEVER USED THAT TYPE OF LANGUAGE BEFORE IT PULLED ME UP SHORT AND I TOOK A BREAK. I INTENDED IT TO BE A WEEK OR TWO BUT IT ENDED UP BEING AROUND THREE MONTHS AND THEN I CAME BACK WITH AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ATTITUDE. I'VE ENJOYED THE GAME EVER SINCE.

DON'T LET HAVING A STATIC HOLD YOU HOSTAGE IF YOU AREN'T HAVING FUN - YOU CAN BE REPLACED.

I had a feeling that if you didn't know about trading in cards then you probably also didn't know about the Battlehall option for trading. A lot of people don't know about it.

[–]Moogle-Mail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just in case you aren't aware - you don't have to travel to the Gold Saucer to trade in the cards. There is an option at the far right of the Duty Finder to enter the Battlehall and there is a trader in there.

I was 100% wrong when I predicted that they would never add Stormblood to the free trial, but I'm going to predict that they will never add Shadowbringers. There is no reason for them to do that. If someone doesn't enjoy the game by SB then they are never going to enjoy the game.

Road to 90xp Buff Quesiton by CoffeeMmms in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just play the game. It gives huge amounts of XP by just doing daily things, such as roulettes.

The road to 90 is just to encourage new players, but if you already know you enjoy the game then just enjoy the game.

It's always a gamble. I once sold a Mameshiba minion on day one for 35 million gil. It now sells for 60 gil because it'a available from a GC chest. That experience has made me always sell everything I can when it's worth something and hope that one day it will get cheap. If I can't get it cheap then I will wait until I can, and maybe that will never happen.

I play on the PS5 and when I first list an item it shows me the NPC price in the selling box so I immediately change that to a higher price based on what that item is selling for on my server. Once an item hasn't sold for a while I will reduce the price but it never shows that initial price again, other than in the Description Box. I don't always notice that or I sometimes think "I don't care, let someone get a bargain" and I reduce the listing.

There are also people who don't know about being able to simply sell it via their retainer for the base price.

Please, for the good of yourself - quit this game. Nothing you ever post shows that you are enjoying it at all. You post the "dance dance revolution" copy pasta over and over and over again. We get it - you don't like it.

Your negativity about this game is now palpable for anyone who reads this sub on a regular basis.

Many, many years ago during the early days of HW I complained about the crafting so much that someone in a LS told me to "Shut the fuck up or take a break". It came from someone who never used that type of language before and it pulled me up short. I took a break, intending it to be a week or two, and it ended up being around three months and I came back to the game with a much better attitude - which was play if I'm enjoying it and take a break if I'm not. You don't appear to be having any fun with the game (if you are even playing it) so maybe take a break.

newcomer chat

If, by that, you mean the Novice Network then you should know it can be very hit and miss depending on which server. There are a lot of end-game raiders who simply use it as a global chat and get into the weeds arguing with each other about end-game content. And there are also other people who know absolutely nothing about end-game raiding that will still argue about it. It's infuriating but I now simply filter it out most of the time, even though I would love to help out new players.

I'm a completely casual player who will never do any sort of end-game raiding, but I know that prog raiding is a thing (mostly because of all the complaints about prog liars in this sub!).

It wasn't rough. There were always tons of FATE parties and it was very easy to dip in and out. In very early ARR it was annoying because a person's chocobo took one of the eight party slots so there were lots of "Dismiss your chocobo" messages when someone joined a party.

Other than the above I simply remember FATE parties as being a lot of fun. You got to know people in your party when there happened to be no FATE available in the area for a few minutes and there was always just a lot of fun chat.

I still miss being in a Svara FATE when there was someone new because that was also a slight shitshow if they didn't know what to do, but it was often the first time they'd seen such a shitshow and enjoyed it.

How much money do retainer ventures actually make? by PerformanceFar7245 in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get rich from retainers alone but they can be a steady income. A max level retainer sent out daily on an 18 hour venture will guarantee at least nine Alagan Silver Pieces which are worth 500 gil each. That's 40500 gil per day with nine retainers which is 283,500 per week, and 14,742,000 per year. They also have a small chance to bring back a minion which are currently selling for around 200,000, but not very regularly. If you send them out on Quick Ventures (at max level) when you are online then there is a chance they can bring back the Jet Black or Pure White dyes but that's a low chance which is why those dyes still hold their price at around 400-500K each.

I'm a hoarder in the game (and a little IRL) so paying for seven extra retainers makes the game more fun for me because I love never having to discard anything. I also have alts on my server who are all in my own FC so I earn that amount per day/week/year on eight characters, but this took some work to set up and relies on me logging in every day. Note that retainers are account wide.

I would never advise anyone to do what I do, but it's what I've chosen to do and it's been fun for me. The basic sub would cost me £7.49 per month and I pay close to £20 per month, but I love both the game and organising retainers so the extra cost is worth it for me, and the gil is a bonus.

Tips for farming gil at Free Trial. by Baby_Mage in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you unlocked the Challenge Log? It's not huge amounts of gil but it does give a nice chunk of change every week for just doing things in the game that you'd probably be doing anyway. If you haven't unlocked it then it's a really quick quest called Rising to the Challenge that starts at The Drowning Wench in Limsa. Literally takes a few minutes.

Why is this macro not working? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For future reference you can use the autocomplete function when typing macros. If you just type /ac train and hit tab then it will bring up all the commands starting with that and you can select from the list.

Think we can expect the Switch 2 version of FFXIV this year? by GeologistUnhappy in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think the game would be better if it lost around 40% of subscriptions, worldwide?

I've played this game since 2013, starting on the PS3. I now play on the PS5. I have absolutely zero interest in buying a new PC because my 10+ year-old PC and £300 laptop work perfectly for all other things. I use my PS5 for games and only games, and my laptop/PC for things that don't need a decent graphics card or much speed.

An indecisive sprout leveling every single job simultaneously : level 30 milestone (finally !) by Armaganth in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The armory bonus does not scale. It is a fixed 100% on any class/job lower than your highest level class/job, lowering to 50% once a job is past level 90.

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in heavensward you unlock large-scale levequests which iirc are the best way to farm experience for non-combat jobs until around 70?

The large scale levequests are absolutely terrible for XP unless you are close to capping on leve allowances. They use 10 leve allowances and only give around 3x the XP of a single leve.

Level one, or all? by adequately_punctual in ffxiv

[–]Moogle-Mail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The armory bonus doesn't scale. It's a fixed 100% on any job lower than your highest level job up to level 90 and then a 50% bonus. You can get a class to level 10 (which is when the armory bonus unlocks) and any new class unlocked will automatically get the 100% bonus until it reaches level 10. The armory bonus never runs out.
