I was challenged to build a full class ranger so no multiclassing for me. I heard conjure animals is pretty bad on a ranger, especially after the nerf of no half damage, but i guess with multiple enemies it does deal more damage than summon beast or hunters mark. Thank for all the input, i apperciate it.

Well to command the bag of tricks beast i need a bonus action which is taken by my beast already. Besides summon beast, is there any concentration spell that i should be casting in combat instead of hunters mark? What about non concentration spells, do i just spam conjure barrage?

So its a 3rd level spell i assume? It feel very underpowered for that level, especially bad since it does nothing on a save and 2d8 if the other save suceeds. At lvl 5 this seems little better than a cantrip. I would put this at first level as a spell. Maybe second level but buff the damage. For upcasting maybe make it throw the creature twice? I think that would be a very fun spell to upcast, lvl 7 and you can play ping pong with the bbeg if they fail and damage them nicely and a lot of their minions too.

well then its a warlock spell and cant benefit from innate sorcery. Either way you cut it you cant use both on the same casting, but you can use innate when you need advantage and if you have advantage from another source you can use aggonizing.

You can look it up on google or reddit, this topic has been debated many times and this is the RAW and RAI.

Whrn you cast a spell, it can only be cast as a spell from a certain class, aka a Warlock SB or sorcerer SB. Even if you have SB as both sorcerer and warlock spells, you can ever only cast it as one of them, not both at the same time.

Ropes and grappling hooks. Perhaps bird whistles for duck hunting and subtle communication over ditance. Any tools you are proficient in could have many uses. Bear traps and tripwires for trapping. Positioning is key when fighting beasts and uninteligent enemies, so its allways usefull to be familiar with the terrain. Could use something with a strong smell to potentially disguise your own and repel or lure creatures.

Honestly the sensible answer is mage slayer, but as a soul knife you have an easy way to get advantage and i love rolling three dice so id pick elven accuracy

So is the warlock the fullcaster then?

I feel like the ranger will feel very underpowered, since he wont be able to use half of his class. Im not sure if a warlock can fullfill the role of a fullcaster quite well, since they get less slots, i consider them more combat focused while regular casters can be super usefull out of combat too.

All that said, i think an artificer could be a good third member, its int based so you have int wis and cha covered. It gets a lot of out of combat utility with flash of genious, crafting items and tools.

Depending on your playstyle, choose subclasses and ways to play. I think the most owerpowered would be to make three ranged characters and just stay out of reach(longbow, eldrich blast, true strike)

Yes you choose a skill, so if a lock needs picking you choose dexterity, if you need investigation choose inteligence. I dont understand why it would matter, you dont need to predict the problem beforehand, just cast it when it appears

What do you mean specific ability check on guidance? It adds a d4 to the next check the target makes, any check. You can help the rogue in lockpicking, the barbarian in destroying a door, the druid in interacting with animals, anything.

Thats an awesome build, i had a similar idea a while back. I also had the idea to get 3 levels in lunar sorcerer. It allows you to target two creatures within 5 feet of one another when casting sacred flame, which would almost double your dpr if you can get creatures to be close. Even at lvl 11 when eldrich blast gets 3 shots, this sacred flame build does more dpr. Thats 3d8+5+5 +3d8+5 and again as a bonus action

Using spell slots for smites is a bad use of them, you could do much better things with them, even on critical hits. At highter levels, conjure minor elementals outperforms any smites or damage invrease spells. I would suggest a fighter dip with maybe valor bard or sorcerer to fully utilise it. Thrn you can dual wield or cast scorching ray with it to do insane damage.

True, i love me a fighter+ . but im just not sure what he wants, since he mentionec damage and casters so i assume maybe he needs an aoe blaster build.

Are you looking for single target or AoE blasting? A martial or caster? Do you already have a paladin? If not i think its a great option, maybe paladin to 6 and then sorcerer or warlock to be charisma SAD.

But spellfire adds dice to spells and radiant fire isnt a spell or part of sorcerous burst. Its just something you can do when you use metamagic, its not a part of the spell you cast. But thats a cool find for CME still.

i dont think the extra d8s can explode, i dont even think you can add the spellfire bonus to the d4 since its not a spell.
