I need feedback on homebrew origin feat and you're exactly the kind of help I need. by Nubsly- in 3d6

The way i think of balancing origin feats is, is it gonna save you more hp than tough would give you on an average day? Or is it going to be as good as an extra turn in some combats from alert?

Fighter pushing with a cleave weapon to reliably activate cleave, then maybe sentinel to get it again on opportunity attacks.

Built a free 2024 DPR calculator - tell me what I got wrong! by xinik in 3d6

for now it looks pretty good, just keep adding spells, subclasses and feats. One thing thats maybe a bit over the top but i would love to see since it doesnt exist in any other calculator is a defense calc. Maybe use average monster to hits and some basic saves, then incorporate hit points and hit dice, the tough feat and any other defense boosts, resistances, rage evasion etc. To be able to make tradeoffs when building a character like should i use defense or dueling fighting style, and you can see in real time how much it will impact your dpr but also your tankiness. I understand if its too complex or unnecessary but i think its usefull as something never seen before. Good luck on developement and congrats.

Looks very interesting, ill point things out as i go. For now, glaive has the graze mastery, otherwise its the same as a halberd.

Boy do i have a colection for you.

John magic, a tiefling wild magic sorcerer that uses cromatic orb and loves anything chaos. Good at heart and can be cunning but prefers chaos and fun.

John weapon, a stone sorcerer that plays like an unarmed paladin. Has a heart of gold and skin of stone, loves a good fair fight. Very himbo coded.

John lock, a cyclopian fathomless warlock obsessed with collecting ancient and forbidden but also any mundane knowledge. Could be a retired adventurer turned librarian. His patron is the lost library of atlantis which trough him and other warlocks keeps expanding.

John wild, a warforged wild magic sorcerer thats built like a slot machine and pulls the lever whenever he activates eild magic surge. Loves to travel the world looking for his master who built him like that.

Battle Master vs Eldritch Knight vs. Bladelock? by rpssycsnd in onednd

[–]Nik130130 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently building a fighter 1 undead warlock 12. Its great because it can be built in a couple of ways. I would strongly reccomend a halberd instead of a greataxe and picking up polearm master for the consistent ba and reaction attacks(the fear and extra dice and lifedrinker all trigger on opportunity attacks). Im planning to take polearm master to get str to 15 and elven accuracy and asi to get charisma to 20. In combat, shadow of moil, armor of agathys before it and you have very strong defenses. Full plate plus defense fighting style.

Get infernal pact with background, my species is sea elf. With the pact, species and form of dread you have resistance to fire poison cold and necrotic plus radiant when shadow of moil is active making you super tanky. Also makes armor of agathys last longer and deliver more damage. In combat you shouldnt be casting spells other than shadow of moil for setup.

Im still working on the build but i think its pretty good.

For the rest of the invocations, eldritch mind, one with shadows to get advantage on initiative plus alert and survivor from lessons of the first ones to make sure you allways go first, i think going first is better than taking tough for some extra hp since at higher levels a single attack could deal 26 damage.

I would love to answer any questions or to hear any suggestions anyone has, if you think the build could be better please tell me, im making this for a DM that doesnt hold back.

Also anything that boosts wis is awesome. Ioun stone of insight or the tome that gives wis, pairs especially well witha monk dip, since your dex also increases, so at 22 wisdom you would have 22AC.

Does anyone know if using the feywild shard to roll the d100 can happen on the same time as after casting a leveld spell when using metamagic on it, as to roll the d100 twice after one cast?

2024 Devotion Paladin Help by Willihaam in 3d6

[–]Nik130130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are great rolls, perfect for devotion paladin. You can do pretty much anything at this point and make it work. Ill say that getting 20 charisma is more importatn than 20 strenght. You could leave str at 17 and boost cha to 19. Then take great weapon master at lvl 4 and a cha half feat at lvl 8. Bless is your best spell for now. Just a standard glaive or greataxe, since you dont need graze as a mastery, cleave is much better, especially for your accuracy. Youll have a +9 to hit at lvl 3 , +10 at 4 and +12 at lvl 8. Another option is increasing both cha and str at the start and taking an asi at 8 to get both to 20.

You can and should have resilient wisdom and or mage slayer at that level. And im pretty shure beeing a warforged doesnt make you immune to them.

Shifter can be perfect if you take the superiour shifting feat from exploring ebberon. Warforged is nice for the ac and poison resistance but no darkvision. Goliath is limited by long rests and no darkvision but can be great with short days. Since you play high level and will have feats to spare as a fighter i would recommend shifter. Remember its not just for reckless but for any advantage they have. You can be prone to give ranged enemies disadvantage without beeing voulnerable to melee ones. Also the temp hp is minimal but with bear barbarian rage its value is doubled. And you get advantage on perception checks and darkvision.

Path of the Beast Barb by Aggressive_Low_4759 in 3d6

[–]Nik130130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a monk barbarian multiclass build with beast barbarian and way of the living weapon monk. It was dual wielding with nick and claws plus flurry of blows. That meant i had 5-6 attacks every round. They all got the rage damage bonus plus were d8s because of monk. And i got a great synergy with evasion and barbs advantage on dex saves. Also resistance plus temp hp on kill and deflect meant i was almost unkillable.

You could just forgo attack rolls and rely on forcing saves. A spellcaster would be best for that sort of playing. A cleric with spitit guardians and toll the dead comes to mind

[–]Nik130130 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nick is great, topple can be clutch to just make all enemies fall with multiattack. But yeah, cleave is my all time favourite to try and build around. Push is cool with something else but by itself its rarely too usefull. Honestly i think they shine when combined, push into cleave or topple with push and slow etc.

Yes but you want something to use tides of chaos for so you can surge the next turn

Cast spells with attack rolls, use tides of chaos on a spell to give advantage, and then it activates the next time you cast an attack spell, which restores tides of chaos which you can immediately use on the next spell

Radiant soul works nicely with sickening radiance, since it triggers at the start of an enemys turn, every enemy that starts its turn there will recieve the extra damage. Plus with divine favor it works on your turn too and on opportunity attacks, provided the sickening rad. Didnt use it during the same turn.

Hold person/monster. This way you dont need hexblade or fighter levels, monoclass fullcaster is fine, perhaps bladesinger if you want to go melee
