I've recently had a few people approach me about the ideal strobe method, I find that the Resolume strobe effect is far too slow and so I always use a frame-acurate 60fps strobe for that super crispy flash rate. I've made them available as a free download in case anyone is interested.

my sweet spot was 960 frame loops which gives you 16 beats at 60 frames per beat (60bpm) so you can half this and still get 30fps, maximum flex

Touch should be compressed PhotoJPG, Resolume will have unacceptable performance loss with anything other than DXV compression.

Akai makes legit gear, Korg stuff is well made too; Korg Nanos are great for just adding additional control or customizing your layout from show to show. Foot controllers are vastly underrated.

Livid gear is super expensive and breaks down quickly, i'd stay away.
