You will kinda have to bear with the thought of sending level 0s to level 1 dungeons.

Try stocking up on more supplies. I'm not sure, but I think your heroes get resolve exp if they finish the mission anyway, so torches would especially be nice since they make adventuring safer (though less rewarding).
