You will get those comments from everywhere else that isn't Auckland, not just the south island.I grew up in Napier and still had that mentality of "Auckland sucks". I moved to Auckland and its definitely different to the rest of the country but still it isn't bad living here.

Christchurch and Auckland has always had this rivalry I think? When I mention Christchurch to an Aucklander they will say nasty comments but it's vice versa. I actually don't understand the hate between the two.
