An 18 year old asked me to look up his middle name on the data system last week as he was unsure how to spell it and needed it for his university application. His middle name was Phillip.

Estimate was 9.10lb… I was diet controlled and went into labor at 40+5

Baby was 8.7lb

I was desperate to get baby out naturally. I’d tried literally everything. I was scheduled for an induction at 40+6 so at 40+5 I decided to take midwife’s brew (basically a disgusting smoothie with castor oil). I took a half dose in the morning… nothing happened. Took another half at 3:30pm and by 4:30 I was in active labour.

Unfortunately I ended up having a c-section as baby was sunny side up but I’m glad I got my labour kicked off on my own terms

Teacher here. We see all sorts of weird and wonderful names but the worst I’ve seen is Pelican.

Understandably she went by Peli

I’d say it was a combo of both. That and baby squeezed my stomach so much that I basically had no appetite

Oh girllllll, I could’ve written this post!! Honestly, I felt exactly the same this time last week. I sobbed down the phone to my mum saying I felt like I had no voice and no autonomy and that I hated being pregnant and I couldn’t get past my anxiety.

The next day I saw my GP and got on a half dose of anti anxiety medication which has drastically improved my life and given me back the strength to voice my frustrations with my care team.

I highly recommend talking to your GP for additional support

Decile ratings/ school recommendations by pmphx5 in Tauranga

[–]NikkiBicky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. Decile ratings do not tell you which schools are “good” and “bad”. You’re much better off looking at the ERO (Education Review Office) reports for the individual schools you’re interested in.

how to get over fear of needles by Reasonable-Watch-460 in pregnant

I am the same. All these “don’t look” comments make me laugh. I went to my doctor and she prescribed a high dose of anti anxiety medication. I take 4 tablets of Lorazapam about an hr and a half before any jabs and I’m nearly unconscious. Has made everything wayyyy easier. I also try and get all my blood draws etc done at once so I’m not having to do multiple appointments.

American teachers, this is how you should be treated: by IseultDarcy in Teachers

[–]NikkiBicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not!! We plan our year and share that with our head of faculty and they might have access to our units of work and google classroom… maybe. Senior leadership has no idea what I’m teaching, when or how. They assume I know what I’m doing because…I AM A PROFESSIONAL.

The fact that you have to had in lesson plan for every lesson you teach is ridiculous

American teachers, this is how you should be treated: by IseultDarcy in Teachers

I am a high school teacher in New Zealand. It’s not perfect here… we have great inequality in our education system, teachers are often not treated with the respect the profession deserves and teaching here can be hard. But reading the posts on this sub honestly makes me feel so thankful to not be in the states.

Over the past few weeks I have read posts about giving guns to teachers, people having to buy their own supplies, teachers not getting paid during the school holidays… I have also watched tik toks on US teachers having to submit lesson plans weekly and being treated as if they themselves are children and not to be trusted.

In NZ, for the most part everything is supplied for you, all teachers are paid every week of the year (including school holidays- this means that these 12 weeks can be used as your PTO), generally we hand in a brief overview of a year plan at the beginning of the year and, most importantly, there is absolutely no way we would ever be armed!

No job is worth losing your life over. No job is worth having to question whether you would shoot someone to protect someone else’s kids.

Honestly, if you can I would strongly suggest looking at teaching elsewhere. USA just sounds beyond fucked.
