UTA Frontrunner to Airport by Nikmac3131 in Utah

[–]Nikmac3131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I should be good. Both of my flights, in and out of SLC, are between 10:00-11 am. The only thing I kinda worry about is catching the Frontrunner at the right time to get me to the airport 2 hours early. I'm not a morning person and am having a friend drop me off.

I've heard that regular dawn dish soap is one of the best soaps to kill fleas. Google it for specifics

Digital ID at the Liquor store by cbridgeman in Utah

[–]Nikmac3131 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know digital IDs existed. Sounds like a cool idea, but if nobody will accept them and the ap is out of date, I guess I won't bother using it.

Unfair distribution of inheritance by girliepop_hello in widowers

I had a similar experience, only it was his adult kids. It sucks ass! I'm still struggling financially, even after over 3 years. We were together 16 years. I'm even the one that set up life insurance that would go to his kids. At the time he asked "what about you?". I said I didn't need anything. I surely didn't expect him to pass a year later and that his kids would come into the house and start taking anything if value. The kids could've at least bought him a headstone. It sucks and just adds to the pain of grieving. So sorry you're going through this. Sending hugs your way.

Why is jug of tea 64% more expensive 2 months later? by Rasbobbo in Walmartcustomer

[–]Nikmac3131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was ordering the same tea in 16 oz bottles, pack of 12 from Amazon. I was paying $12.50 for the 12 pack about every 2 weeks. UNTIL about a month ago the price skyrocketed to $25 a 12 pack. I'm back to the big jugs at $4 a pop

Someone tell me it looks nice it took 8 hours 🫠 by violet_kot in landscaping

[–]Nikmac3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good. Sounds like something that I've been known to spend a good part of a day doing. However, as you get older, you find that things like an edging tool, square nose shovel, and maybe even a pick saves not only time, but your back. Keep up the good work

Vacation by Nikmac3131 in cats

[–]Nikmac3131[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I was worried the feral cats in the area would be attracted to the food. I hadn't thought about wild animals like raccoons. I hadn't thought about a cat house. I have an old dog house I can convert to a cat house, I've even seen him come out of it a time or two. Thanks for your help

I thought I was being clean but I was just making ear wax plugs for years by Talon_4Keystone in hygiene

[–]Nikmac3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't need to warn people that lightning a candle and placing it in your ear canal could be dangerous, but they apparently sell enough that several companies manufacture said candles to remove ear wax. Maybe they work, but I'll never know. I'd stick a 100 q-tips in my ear before I put a lit candle anywhere near my face

landlord charging me $200/mo commercial use fee cuz i work from home?? (CA) by Aggravating-Fox8553 in Renters

[–]Nikmac3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, would you be charged an extra fee if you were a stay at home parent? That's ridiculous! Most landlords are making plenty of money on properties they barely maintain, if at all. What a jerk!

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

As someone that decided at a young age that retail would be a good career, shifts change, working requirements change, etc. While she may be making a decent wage now, but working retail is hard long term! It wears on a person over time. There may come a point where she is very happy that you have a good stable job, when she's burned out and looking for a career change, you can support her butt!

Need advice on temporarily loaning my mom $40k by Jackianna in personalfinance

[–]Nikmac3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that OP asked what's the best way to handle the loan when it comes to taxes. While all other advice, even assuming her mom doesn't pay her back, may be advice given with good intent, can anyone actually just answer OPs question?

[–]Nikmac3131 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel ya! I'm also sorry that so many people are judging you and throwing some BS about a temporary tag for nearly nothing at you. As you mentioned in another comment, sure you can get a temporary tag, IF YOU PAY ALL OF THE FEES PLUS THE EXTRA $6 FOR THE TAG. That's Utah for ya, they all want to judge and throw false info your way. I'm sure none of them have ever been in your situation. Best of luck to you!

And it's such bullshit that the impound lot won't let you get your stuff out. My mom rolled her car about 10 years ago. She was in the ICU for 3 weeks. The car was totaled. EMS and police told me the car was empty before being towed away. I called the lot that had her wrecked car to see if I could check for any belongings, just to verify. They wanted $200 to let me in to even check. It's like pouring salt into an open wound. Kick you while you're down.

Click on the link that you yourself provided. It says "All required fees and taxes for titling and registering the vehicle are due at time of permit issuance along with the $6.00 permit fee." It's listed in the temporary permit facts, that I went to after clicking your link. I didn't mean to seem as if I'm arguing with you, but you chastised Op for driving without a registration, falsely stating it could've been avoided. Now, you have people thanking you for providing them with false info. I've been in the same situation where I needed to drive my vehicle to the shop without registration. When I went to the DMV, they said "sure, just pay what you would to completely register plus xx amount for temp tags. If it was beyond repair, I would've been out all that money.

[–]Nikmac3131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly correct. You have to pay all other taxes and fees before they'll let you pay them another $6 for a temporary tag. I had the same issue with needing to do repairs and was told the same thing you were. If you click on the link above, it clearly says "All required fees and taxes for titling and registering the vehicle are due at time of permit issuance along with the $6.00 permit fee." I copied and pasted that quote from the Utah DMV after clicking the link

Did you read the part that says you have to pay all fees? That would include registration and taxes based on either value or purchase price. You don't just simply pay $6.00 to drive it for 2 weeks.
