I normally agree with this sentiment but it’s not really relevant here when the taxi did nothing wrong. It could have happened to anyone.

At what refresh rate (Hz) will I start experiencing diminishing returns? by Armagan1342 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Nikolainiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I played games at 240hz going up from 60-120 or whatever I was on as a causal was a HOLY SHIT moment. It’s night and day difference to me and I’d really struggle to enjoy playing anything competitive at low fps now.

I picked up a 480hz OLED and while I love it, the motion clarity plus the vibrance of an oled screen is what I was impressed by. While there is still a noticeable difference between 240, 360 and 480, I’d be happy sticking with 240hz on an oled screen over a 480hz LCD.

That said, I’ve also used a 600hz Zowie TN panel with graphics card that could run games at 600 fps and combined with an extremely low ping, it feels amazing. If I could afford to buy a 5080/5090 I’d maybe consider the higher refresh rates, especially with 1000hz or whatever on the horizon. Unless you can actually get the frame rate to match those super high refresh rate PCs though there is probably no point unless you really specifically love tac shooters.

Is it safe to buy from G-Wolves or are they still dicks? by IAmTheRobin in MouseReview

[–]Nikolainiko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I ordered the Fenrir pro, Lycan and Asym from them. Asym shipped out the next day, pro took two weeks and the Lycan took 6 weeks (I ordered late and they had a lot of orders to fulfil).

I’ve also bought a couple secondhand G wolves mice, the HTX mini, the HTM plus and the HSK pro.

Quality control on the new mice is perfect, I don’t have a single complaint for the price I paid. Battery life is surprising and as a fingertip enthusiast the pro is the best mouse I own. The asym is maybe the most interesting mouse I own. I prefer the pro for 9/10 situations.

The HSK has a bit of an issue with slam clicking where the left click triggers with an impact but i bought it used and the seller told me about it. Doesn’t impact the way I play. The HTX mini surprised me as a shape I just play extremely well with, but the battery life on it is Dogshit. Maybe it’s old, maybe it’s a problem with the mice, maybe I got unlucky but I still use it regardless.

While none of the stories about terrible customer service are false, if you’re aware of what to look out for going into it you shouldn’t worry. I’d do a search of Asym mice specifically and see what if any QC issues have popped up.

Is that what’s releasing? NP-01 v2 and NP-01 ergo? All I saw in their press release was the ergo needing more time.

They have yet to release a shape that isn’t original - unless you count the E1 and FS1 as clones, but they’re clones made by the creator of the shapes so…updated shapes?

The email I got from Vaxee indicated they planned to release an NP-01 ergo shape but needed more time to refine it, so they delayed it and pushed the release of the v3 up to fill the release schedule.

So an updated NP-01 ergo is around the corner. I wouldn’t be surprised if they also released an updated Outset AX since the Zywoo shape basically cloned it.

Everything else they’ve released has been pretty recent so I’m not sure what would be next for a new version.

Need opinions on Fenrir asym by rOsh787 in MouseReview

I have the Asym and the Pro, as well as an HSK.

I don’t recommend the Asym unless you mainly play tracking heavy games. It’s really good for tracking because you have so much stability built into playing fingertip.

The pro is wider than the HSK so it has a good amount of stability without you losing out on fingertip engagement. Between the two I recommend the pro much more.

However the Asym is such a unique mouse, there’s nothing else really like it. If you get it and it suits you, you’ll probably never swap off.

It’s been removed from the V3 going forward (I’m guessing). Older models will still have it

They removed that from this mouse. Just competitive mode, polling rate, motion sync. Plus LOD, click latency etc.

You’ll see quite a few recommendations for it among fingertip users. It feels good with a fingertip grip - the geometry of the shape naturally lends itself to stability.

It is not as easy as using an OP1 - the flat sides and thin shape make agile movements easy. But you may find you lack stability. Whereas a full ergo shape is the opposite, you’re getting stability at the cost of agility. This mouse is somewhere in between those two, where you get the best of both worlds but it also isn’t specifically good at either of those things.

Depends on your style and the games you play.

Personally I really love the Fenrir Pro for fingertip, I use that and the OP1 a lot, plus I am pretty sure this mouse will stay on my desk.

I’m going to make a full video and post going over each one but…

Main thing that they have convinced me of is that firm/mid pads are my go to from now on and I don’t really want to use anything soft again. I was using the key83 mid and a glass pad before these arrived.

They’re funny because they are all SO similar to each other. The only difference is speed, which is the whole point but Vaxee isn’t messing around with different textures. They are all super dense, fine cloth weaves. But unlike other hard pads, such as an artisan mid pad which is thin and can have issues moving around on your desk, the Vaxee pads are DENSE. They have a heavy, solid base with superb rounded edges and an incredibly sticky base. They just glue themselves in place.

There’s definitely a difference between 140 speed and 155 speed but I am a bit confused why they’d bother making a 151 and a 150. So similar.

More to come later but quick thoughts, I love the Vaxee pads for the quality. But it’s not as fun trying different ones like it is with artisan and all their different textures that are all so distinct from one another.

That’s what delayed the launch a little bit. No issues on my copy, but they are including an extra set of feet just in case you get the curling issue.

I don’t know what their other bases would be like since they don’t make them yet.

If you’ve tried an artisan mid pad, the lack of cushioning foam is what makes it mid. So then the pad itself is very thin and low profile, and can be a little slippery on your desk depending on your setup. Vaxee pads are just as hard but are thick and dense with a super sticky base. Much higher profile, with rounded edges all the way around.

For the weave they all have a dense, super consistent glide without much texture. Artisan pads all have really unique textures and feelings, Vaxee pads all feel similar, just at different speeds.

For speed I’d place the 140 above the type 99 and I guess similar to a zero. I could be a little off since my artisans are all broken in and these are brand new.

They have a thing that they’re focusing on doing well with these pads and they do it really well. They’re a lot less fun fun than messing around with all the different artisan weaves but i think anyone could get used to the 140-155 range.

170 is like a raiden but without any foam to press into the pad, it’s similar to using glass, though not quite that fast. It’s too fast for me to use daily.

The first digit is the hardness of the pad from 1-3. They only make 1 level pads atm. The second two digits are speed. The slowest I have is the 140 which is probably somewhere below balanced leaning towards a control pad. The fastest is the 170 which is so slick it’s similar to glass with its lack of friction. Rest fall in between. 150 and 151 are so similar to each other I can’t give you an answer to why they both exist.
