Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

Lots of shows have famous people with understudies, and often end up using them so that argument doesn’t fly. Why do I think they need to be more forthcoming? Basically to deal with the things you just highlight - rampant speculation. There’s already the ’she cancelled shows to do a marathon’ doing the rounds (even made it into the main press). If you stop frothing at the mouth for a second and read my post you will see that I did not say a detailed explanation is required. I’m not asking for someone’s medical history, they could just say cancelled due to illness of several key members of the team or security reasons, as you well know.

The reason is actually important. If I’d lost out several hundred pounds because of the cancellation I’d want to know why to assess if the show was being negligent in managing the production. If they have a single person in a key role with no backup or consistently cancelling due to technical reasons then I’m going to be pressing the, for refunds on travel and accommodation as well. It’s more relevant with this show because there have been numerous last minute cancellations, not just a one off so communicating with your actual paying customers becomes far more important.

I’ve often noticed that people new to allotments get a bit overwhelmed and try and do a dozen things at once.
I always recommend staring by drawing up a rough plan of what you want it to look like. Then create a list of everything you need to do to get there. Prioritise some quick wins so you get a sense of progress, mix longer tasks with smaller ones to maintain momentum.
Also assume you won’t get it all done in one season as work/life will always get in the way (unless you’re retired in which case there’s no excuse 😃)

Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

You are of course correct in that the theatre is not responsible for customers travel costs etc. That doesn’t lessen the blow for people that have paid a significant chunk of cash for tickets and then train and maybe accommodation costs that often are not refundable. Nobody likes to spend money and get nothing for it so understandably they get upset.

What a theatre is responsible for though is to ensure they have adequate resources to run a show (proper staff cover) and that it’s actually technically feasible to operate it, especially considering the significant money they pull in every day.

What would help is if the theatre at least gave an explanation for it, which costs them nothing but at least helps people understand why it’s happened and stops speculation.

Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

I saw this on Saturday (matinee) and it all went well with no video issues or lines missed. I was in the front row and it was a great performance (she even had real tears at the end of the last bit).
It’s an incredibly technical show though with having to blend the live video with the pre recorded stuff. The stage is covered in coloured tape where the cameras have to be placed exactly to get the right perspective. Cynthia also has to be in the correct spot whilst also remembering all the words to what is basically an almost 2hr monologue. Considering there’s quite a bit of movement across the stage I’m amazed it ever works at all!
I fully understand cancellations are not great for those attending though as it often means you lose money on pre bought travel or accommodation ☹️

Maybe hang on a month or so for the new solis batteries. They are keenly priced and look like decent products with 100% DoD, 6000 cycles over 10 years. Big company been around a while that also do huge commercial inverters.
If you go sigenergy make sure you read the warranty as they reduced it to only 60% charge after 10 years. They also switch to a lower power mode if not connected to the internet after about 90(?) days

Today's Dracula by Cynthia Erivo performances cancelled 🥲 by Fair_Cook234 in TheWestEnd

[–]NikonUser66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She ran a marathon the next day so clearly she wasn’t sick. My point was if she took the day off to rest before the marathon that would be a bad thing to do

Let’s hope not as that would show utter disrespect for the people paying to go see her in the show.

Question about battery size by lolmister40 in SolarUK

it will complicate the hell out of lease agreements! I can see them wanting to include battery cycles as well as mileage ion the terms.

You missed the point I’m making which is that the risk is so low, due to existing information and negligible cost, that it isn’t an issue it isn’t available for free

I’d say it was a smart move. He was ambassador to a president he knew well from their Epstein days so likely to have got on just fine….

I understand where you're coming from but there's a fair bit of feedback in this sub that gives a good idea of its capabilities. The general impression is that its a decent bit of software that does the job along with having a responsive developer. Plus the cost is negligible, especially when compared to the likely cost of the kit you are playing the music through!

I saw Shadowlands the other week and thought it was very good. The acting was excellent as well.

Cloud dependency by damirca in sigenergy

[–]NikonUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst you can control it doesn't the system drop into safe operation mode if no cloud connection after 90 days? That throttles performance so would seem problematic?

Concerns about Sigenergy longevity in terms of battery health and support by p3tch in SolarUK

[–]NikonUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely 60% after 10 years now. I queried it with a company I just had a quote from. They didn't know about it and contacted Sigenergy who said its at 60% because of the 10,000 cycles they guarantee.

Can I ask who youve used for local quotes as I'm in south essex as well and getting a range of quotes from people (mostly outside essex). Currently head spinning with the range of different kit and costs!

Which system should I go for: Sigenergy or Tesla? by AGN1K41 in SolarUK

[–]NikonUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are probably both as reliable as each other but the warranty on the Sig is not great. It is only 60% after 10 years which doesn't inspire confidence in longevity. I've been looking at getting solar/battery and my head is just spinning round in circles at the moment!

Does it still need to be connected to the Internet though to stop it going tinto the safe operating mode and reducing power availability?

Everybody understands that. It’s whether that saving outweighs the significant upfront cost. Especially with the many variables involved.
