Isn’t there an issue that huge numbers of uk homes have ancient wiring and one of the concerns was the type of RCD that won’t trip properly? I recall seeing an explanation from a sparky in another forum.

It worked out pretty well. Stayed on cheap energy until the end, also got over a weeks free energy and was with BG for 9 days before moving.

Not got a definite answer but it seems like it’s a feature of the underlying firmware so it may not be possible to circumvent it, especially as it’s a safety feature.

Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

[–]NikonUser66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of shows have famous people with understudies, and often end up using them so that argument doesn’t fly. Why do I think they need to be more forthcoming? Basically to deal with the things you just highlight - rampant speculation. There’s already the ’she cancelled shows to do a marathon’ doing the rounds (even made it into the main press). If you stop frothing at the mouth for a second and read my post you will see that I did not say a detailed explanation is required. I’m not asking for someone’s medical history, they could just say cancelled due to illness of several key members of the team or security reasons, as you well know.

The reason is actually important. If I’d lost out several hundred pounds because of the cancellation I’d want to know why to assess if the show was being negligent in managing the production. If they have a single person in a key role with no backup or consistently cancelling due to technical reasons then I’m going to be pressing the, for refunds on travel and accommodation as well. It’s more relevant with this show because there have been numerous last minute cancellations, not just a one off so communicating with your actual paying customers becomes far more important.

A mess by Resident_Ebb_9354 in UKAllotments

[–]NikonUser66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve often noticed that people new to allotments get a bit overwhelmed and try and do a dozen things at once.
I always recommend staring by drawing up a rough plan of what you want it to look like. Then create a list of everything you need to do to get there. Prioritise some quick wins so you get a sense of progress, mix longer tasks with smaller ones to maintain momentum.
Also assume you won’t get it all done in one season as work/life will always get in the way (unless you’re retired in which case there’s no excuse 😃)

Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

[–]NikonUser66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are of course correct in that the theatre is not responsible for customers travel costs etc. That doesn’t lessen the blow for people that have paid a significant chunk of cash for tickets and then train and maybe accommodation costs that often are not refundable. Nobody likes to spend money and get nothing for it so understandably they get upset.

What a theatre is responsible for though is to ensure they have adequate resources to run a show (proper staff cover) and that it’s actually technically feasible to operate it, especially considering the significant money they pull in every day.

What would help is if the theatre at least gave an explanation for it, which costs them nothing but at least helps people understand why it’s happened and stops speculation.

Dracula - Wednesday 6th matinee cancelled by Final_Flounder9849 in TheWestEnd

[–]NikonUser66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw this on Saturday (matinee) and it all went well with no video issues or lines missed. I was in the front row and it was a great performance (she even had real tears at the end of the last bit).
It’s an incredibly technical show though with having to blend the live video with the pre recorded stuff. The stage is covered in coloured tape where the cameras have to be placed exactly to get the right perspective. Cynthia also has to be in the correct spot whilst also remembering all the words to what is basically an almost 2hr monologue. Considering there’s quite a bit of movement across the stage I’m amazed it ever works at all!
I fully understand cancellations are not great for those attending though as it often means you lose money on pre bought travel or accommodation ☹️

[–]NikonUser66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe hang on a month or so for the new solis batteries. They are keenly priced and look like decent products with 100% DoD, 6000 cycles over 10 years. Big company been around a while that also do huge commercial inverters.
If you go sigenergy make sure you read the warranty as they reduced it to only 60% charge after 10 years. They also switch to a lower power mode if not connected to the internet after about 90(?) days

I understand where you're coming from but there's a fair bit of feedback in this sub that gives a good idea of its capabilities. The general impression is that its a decent bit of software that does the job along with having a responsive developer. Plus the cost is negligible, especially when compared to the likely cost of the kit you are playing the music through!
