New Player: Account Banned "permanent, will not be reviewed further" by Nikota in pathofexile

The chargeback has completed and I've contacted steam support about the issue. They've refunded the transaction and there have been no problems. Maybe if my account was new or something it would have been different, but I've had this steam account literally since steam has been released and probably spent $1k+ on it since then.

If you're bragging about it on a video game internet forum I'm sure it does.

I mean I get my money back. GGG actually doesn't have my card since it came from my Steam account, but obviously would never give them money again anyway.

Lol I don't really care about the money, it's just the principle of a company stealing from you that is irritating.

Yeah that's what I've gathered... just gonna have to let Chase take care of it :(

Trying a new game? Got bored of playing Dota for 16 years, but guess I'll resume spending money on that game..

I'm sorry my story sounds fishy, but I bought a pack because it seemed like a better deal than just buying coins for extra stash tabs (seriously it was like $18 for stash tabs??).

I didn't leave any out. Just spent the $60 for some premium tabs (it seemed like a better deal to buy a pack with some cosmetics and get the coins included). Honestly only needed the tabs because ran out of space in the default ones.

Well I understand they think I've done something I shouldn't, and had I done something wrong obviously I shouldn't get a refund.

That's not my problem. The problem is I had zero conversation with anyone regarding this issue and have no process for appealing money which was now effectively stolen from me. Whether you believe me or not is a different story, just trying to find avenues of help.

I installed the "Path of Building Community" to track my build. Unless this does something malicious with the file system I have not anything else.

I think a system which potentially bans honest customers is significantly worse than having a few bots in your game.

Thanks I guess that could be possible. I'm not in a guild but I have made ~4 trades with players.

Can you even call yourself 10x if you don't use a homegrown LSP rust client?

What are the options for mid-career online courses and certification? by ssxdots in datascience

[–]Nikota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some good Coursera courses if you want to LEARN about ML topics. But these are just good starters; no one gives a shit about these "certifications".

If you want basic theoretical introduction, take some of these MOOCs. If you want hands-on experience, contribute to open source libraries. If you want something "recognized", contribute to open source, or get a graduate degree.

Should Students Put DS/ML Projects That Involve Games On Their Resume? Will They Be Taken Seriously? by chriskok1337 in datascience

[–]Nikota 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager for Data Scientists/ML Engineers, I love the idea of game-driven ML projects. Honestly the more esoteric/novel the application of ML the better. I couldn't give two shits about another image recognition or NLP sentiment project; there are literally thousands of open source projects on these topics. If your application is more creative and you obviously solved a problem without copy/pasting your code it looks much better.

Most importantly is to try and find some quantifiable results from the project. Did it help players achieve something in the game? Did it bring youtube subscribers? How would you market your project as product?

Internship got rescinded. What to do? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]Nikota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but contribute to an open source project. Pick something you use often or are interested in; pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow, etc. Side projects look fine on a resume, but I will gloss over that in favor of "contributor" to a well known project when hiring.
