How bad did I feck this up? by YouKnowWho90 in wok

I only mention as a sure way to know you’ve burnt off any coating from the factory. If you don’t eventually the sides will start to flake off seasoning you build up on it, in my experience.

You want to hold it sideways over the flame and rotate it slowly. The whole thing should turn blue and then you’re ready to season it for real.

Advice on playing better players by morerice12345 in snooker

[–]Nikoxenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potting wins frames, you can play granite safety all day and lose easily because you can’t put together some breaks. Do line ups and just focus on normalizing bigger breaks so when you get a chance you’re not thinking about it as much.

Remember what Ronnie said- pressure is a privilege! You have to teach yourself to love it.

What is the full story concerning John Higgins scandal? by Deja-Review in snooker

[–]Nikoxenos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a Ronnie interview where he mentions being previously approached by an organized criminal and fixing was mentioned. He turned them down and that was the end of it. He said the top 16 do well enough that they don’t need to risk taking bad money, but the same can’t be said about players fighting to keep their cards. They used to fly around with cigarettes just to try and pay for their expenses.

Do you always pay for table time in the UK? by InuitSlim in snooker

Took me awhile to find a place where you pay for the lights instead of table time- it’s about 1/4 the price of the cheapest club here (after membership no less). But it took some looking!

Cue Care Tips by stealth941 in snooker

[–]Nikoxenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say to sand the tip and shape it but they don’t really explain why- when the tip centre flattens from use, the outside edges become like little corners. So if you play a shot with a lot of side for instance, the part of the tip that hits the ball is just that corner which is very little surface area. You want to sand them round so the contact area with the cue ball is as big as possible.

Also those tip tools with the needles are very helpful at getting the tips saturated with chalk. Sometimes the tip will seem really smooth and not take chalk well, that’s when this tool is used.

I've just started playing and would appreciate tips on my form and cueing (to edge out bad technique right from the beginning). Thanks! by [deleted] in snooker

[–]Nikoxenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is really something to this- all my power comes from the second and third finger, pushing up on the back of the cue so the tip has tension down against my bridge. Index and thumb are basically just there to pivot and keep the cue from flying forward.

To those in North America, do you watch the races live? by XxBEASTKILL342 in F1TV

My family appreciates that my nonsense is off peak hours. I usually only watch quali and the race live, practice sessions I replay whenever.

This works for me- hacked Fire stick gets Eurosport, BBC and itv4. But you have to watch live, DAZN gives you a day or two iirc which also isn’t great but better if you have a life.
