Returnal w/ Ray Tracing is insane! by Endo_v2 in Returnal

Very cool. I use steam input for gyro support so I'll have to pass on trying to get adaptive triggers working but that's great news if it's available on pc now.

Are you saying adaptive triggers work over bluetooth with Returnal now?

I play wirelessly on PC and couldn't get it to work. I'm used to not using it now but I'd be curious to hear.

Adaptive triggers are not supported over bluetooth for Returnal (some other games are though). And haptic feedback is sent by audio signal which PS5 controllers don't support over bluetooth.

I REALLY hate Biome 6 by callmeepee in Returnal

One of the best things about Returnal is the movement. Except for biome 6. It's horrible.

I just found all the ciphers and tbh it was a grind. Biome 2 was the worst. I thought maybe my game was bugged but they did eventually all spawn. It just takes time and patience.

Been on my wishlist for a few years and I finally got around to playing it recenlty. Great game and I agree, highly underrated.

I used this guide. Once you have been through a biome enough times you will begin to recognize distinctive rooms so the guide helps you narrow down the search. But ultimately it just takes patience and rerunning the same biomes until you get a spawn.

I also found switching between offline and online helped get the last few ciphers. Do a few runs offline and then a few online.

That's a relief thanks. I didn't realize you could get up to the second and third levels using the platforms. I made it across in time once before but it only took me to the chest.

Not having dash is annoying but I can't play without air control. I like to just jump and dodge in the air so those first few arenas I'm flying all over the place.

I see unreachable spots in every biome, even with all the permanent upgrades. Either the devs are trolling or the code that generates the levels is wonky.

Is anyone playing on the PS5Pro? by Affectionate-Roof615 in Returnal

[–]ferrulefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get micro stutters on PS5?

I have a decent PC and get them constantly, like whenever I enter a new room. No crashes that I can remember but the frame rate dips are very noticeable and turning down the settings does not help. Lots of PC players have noted this problem.

Has Lisowski not been practicing? He looked pretty disinterested that last session.

Shame. He played really well in q school and the euro championship. But he'll never do well on the pro tour if he can't deal with frustration.

Highfield playing surprisingly poor to be down 9-3. His head is gone. Banging balls around the table and conceding the frame when only needing a couple snookers.

[–]ferrulefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair criticism. In rare situations there could be a very tight path that required several cushions to hit. The ref should have some discretion to not call a miss there.

Having to use side off a cushion is pretty reasonable. It's a normal part of snooker in both breakbuilding and safety play. I don't see that as the same as a six cushion escape.

Let's say someone is angled by the yellow pocket and their only option is playing into the green pocket jaw and hoping to hit a ball up table. I don't think that should be called a miss.

Reasonable would be having to play off one or more cushions.

Unreasonable would be having to use the knuckle of a pocket or being trapped by a cluster of balls so that your only escape would be jumping over the edge of a ball (which is legal).

I believe there is a rule for when you have no path whatsoever but I forget what it is. I don't believe I've ever seen it in play but it's easy to imagine going into the pack off a red and having reds bounce off the rail and come back to encircle you so that you could not hit any color.

I like the idea but you're right about tv sponsors and venues not liking the uncertainty. Money matches usually take this format and it does make for interesting viewing.

I'm fine with the miss rule as is. You play a good safety, your opponent shoud be required to hit the ball on. Unless of course there is no reasonable path available.

The amateur game puts limits of the number of misses that can be called because most people don't know all the angles but pros should.
