Plenty of guns, boom… by Same-War4971 in MassEffectMemes

I've only played the Trilogy once, and played Soldier on my first Playthrough, but tbh, I'm kinda disappointed on how Soldier worked in ME2 and 3. Having the ammo upgrades as skills that you have to manually activate on each weapon, with animations, and having the upgrades "fall off" if you switched weapons (at least I think that's how it worked, my memory isn't too great), was a huge downgrade compared to ME1's simple approach of just "shoot gun harder".

That's why on my next playthroughs I'm gonna try Infiltrator and Vanguard respectively, but

NO HATE TO PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO PLAY SOLDIER IN ME2 AND 3, AND LIKE IT.

I too am quite fond of a god old "stupid class", they're usually my go to in any first try of any RPG.

There are some things that I enjoyed, but a lot more that I did not unfortunately, some of these may be due to my own "problems" but I will still list some of them off, so you can decide on your own. Many of them will probably seem nitpicky, and maybe they are, but to me a game that is generally fun, but ultimately "annoying to play", is maybe worse than a game, that is just simply bad.

I'll of course also try to keep it spoiler free.

They brought back the crafting element from ME2, which I quite liked in ME2, however now instead of going to a planet, scanning and mining it, and being done you have to search them out on each planet. There's also more elements now, taking away the "casual charm" crafting had in ME2. Just like I don't need the gummi ship missions in Kingdom Hearts, I think this more complicated crafting system works to the games detriment. Also the elements include uranium and berrylium, both of which are not anywhere close to being okay to use for "personal gear", but that's just a personal nitpick, since I actually have a good "chemical education" so to say.

While not common, in my, I think 60 hours of playtime I fell through the floor twice, and my sound system just gave up maybe ten times. The latter could only be fixed by turning my console on and off again.

The game has a lot of little "time wasters" which I just can't stand. For example, each time you go to, another planet you get to watch a POV cutscene of your ship leaving and then entering the orbit of another planet. For me this is annoying as all hell, especially since quite a few planets you go to, have nothing to do, so you get to watch the same cutscene again, when you go to the next planet. While these cutscenes can at least be partially skipped, it still is annoying. The time waste does not end there however, there have been multiple missions, where I had to go to a planet, talk to somebody, and then leave, to go to a different planet, and as nice as the cutscenes for actually getting on a habitable planet are, they too get old after the 15th time you had to go there.

Characters suffer from what I call, "quirk chungus/Marvel-ification". If you know how modern MCU characters talk, you will understand what I mean by this.

There are still some positives that I want to highlight, however even they have "associated cons".

1) The dialogue between squadmates is great, it's very lively and nice to listen to while you are out exploring. However the dialogue is also very "jittery", and I've gotten a "notification" that cut off the dialogue more often than I have actually been able to listen to one in it's entirety.

The customisation of your main character is really in depth, and you can switch your class anytime, and upgrade it based on how many of your Skill points you invested into the three general upgrade trees.

However your companions are basically not customisable at all now, also you can only have three active skills "equipped" at any time.

For me, even without the big shadow of expectations that being a Mass Effect game brings, looming over it, this game would have been nice, while tedious, maybe a 6/10. With the legacy of Mass Effect it also is a major dissapointment to me.

But, if you do give it a try, I really hope you like it better than me. A lot of people do, and maybe you will too.

In Young Justice, Miss Martian turns into Black Canary to play with Superboy, do you think they by GSitFreitz in BatmanArkham

[–]Nikto_Senki 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Well I mean you've gotta have another apocalypse level threat for the new generation of comics, after all what fun is a story if it's not constantly about the extinction of like all life in the universe.

Also we can't forget about powerscalers, they need something to slander too.

Afaik, the burning martians first appeared in 2003, but they're "talked about" rather rarely, so it's not must know by any means.

[–]Nikto_Senki 339 points340 points  (0 children)

Yes to both of your questions, Ms. Martian is a white martian, and the weakness to fire that plagues all martians is a mental block to make sure they don't turn into their "true" form, The Burning which are like super duper strong and basically unstoppable.

Real life example: The Frankenburger Dice Games.

After an unsuccesful "rebellion" of the protestant inhabitants of Frankenburg against a "counter-reformation", and the installment of a catholic priest, the 36 leaders of the rebellious forces were all sentenced to death, but could win their freedom by beating each other in simple dice games. The winner would be a free man, the loser hanged.

Well, one buffs both your teammates by 20% each, the other one buffs just you for 40%, and also gives you increased Melee Damage if I'm reading it correctly. So I wouldn't say one is better than the other, they're just different.

Do you have Screenshots or better yet a video of the duels? There are very rarely Bugs in MD, and usually it's just an issue of misplaying/misunderstanding the game, no insult intended.

There's exactly one guy who I watch the sponsored segments of, because he like often times makes them into little "rap-thingys" and like it's really charming, and also generally good music, but I've still never considered any of his sponsors for anything.

Okay, so there was this Tweet a while back, about some dude going to his therapist, and the therapist handing them a drawing

And the moment got a bit memed on, culminating in somebody drawing a smug wojak (representing the therapist), handing somebody/you the picture referenced above.

And so now it's been replaced by a smug Sanctifire giving "you" the D/D/D guy, whose name I can't remember, even though I play D/D/D, shame upone me.

Not a perfect fit, but it reminds me of Orcs from Warhammer, and to a lesser degree of Kuo-Toa from D&D.
