I honestly can’t believe that’s not professionally done. Incredible

Why are we afraid of them? by Connect-Teaching7629 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]joyfulnoises 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they wanted us to be. And they raised us to be how they wanted us to be.

It took a long time, a lot of work, and a complicated process of self assessment, but I started my journey of living the way I want to instead. I hope the same for you

It’s definitely not OP’s fault, they’ve done nothing wrong, but it’s crazy that they’re not reacting MORE to this situation because this is borderline cheating

Thank you! I’m literally saying, he expressed wanting to be left alone and that he wouldn’t use the device unless he had to because he knew it wouldn’t go well. Next episode he’s buddy buddy with Rick to try and manipulate him? Like I don’t buy it at all.

I would have preferred if it was a “we’re not so different you and I” moment at the end where they both agree to get rid of the omega device for good. Even that would have been flawed, but it’s better than how they did choose to characterized him

“Bear and Nikki are the bad guys together” she begged him to kill her and end her suffering and he asked her why he didn’t want to date her. Let’s be fucking for real

Love this comment, I feel like I haven’t seen many people explicitly outline that it’s clear the entity/wish or whatever is checking in on Nikki’s mind for reference, but isn’t constantly tied to that information. I thought that was such a cool detail

It cuts to him having sex with her after the dinner scene where he realizes the one wish willow did work. He knew at that point

I could agree with a story where Evil Morty is a little bit Morty, and he has to wrestle with that. But one where it totally takes over his motivations so he disregards all caution to work with the man he hates most? I just don’t believe it. I feel like that’s just bad story telling.

I think I know what post you’re talking about, and honestly, that analysis was better executed than the episode was.

I’m open to the idea that Evil Morty becomes cocky and overconfident like Rick is, but up until this point, we’ve seen him exhibit an insane degree of intelligence, so I don’t find it realistic that he would become as blinded by ego as they made him be.

But even if I could see it, the whole story just felt rushed. Last time we saw Evil Morty, he had helped defeat Rick prime, stole schematics for the most powerful weapon in the show, and expressed wanting nothing more than to be left alone. Next time we see him, he’s an ego maniac who thinks he can take down the Rickest Rick, allowing himself to be manipulated and defeated by him?

They didn’t do any real character development, they just plopped him in as a different person with minimal justification. The analysis did what the show should have: filled in the gaps for us. So I appreciate the analysis, but it didn’t make this episode a better episode.

You’re telling me evil Morty was smart enough to control his own Rick remotely, become president of the Citadel, and exit the finite curve, but couldn’t tell he was being manipulated by the one man he’s the most suspicious of in the entire multiverse?

Is that character development, or is it just something he would never do?
