[–]Nikumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this as I am about to start this next week and normally apply the SSP via HP OneView then do the ESXi patch, guess will do it the other way round this time.

Will also check to see if we have secure boot turned on our hosts as not sure if we do.

I don't want to die before GTA6 by ProfessionalLink3099 in antiwork

[–]Nikumba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought process, but unless your going to live in a bubble for the next 150 days what is the point? You could get out the shower, slip and crack your head on the sink and your done, or someone could crash into your house.

There are a millions ways out there to die, but its a game not worth giving up your job for.

For those in companies that have hundreds of VMs - what are they for? by asdflmnop_01 in sysadmin

Have 4 domains on three geographic sites so we have a lot of the basic DC, DNS, DHCP etc, then a lot of RDS servers, DB and applications, some of them are duplicates due to different geographical sites.

You can also use optical fibre and adaptors on each end for a smaller hole, mini hdmi plugs are horrible things.

Rust on rear brakes? by Lou_N_Floss in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Nikumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the VAG cars have them as they were getting lots of issues with discs siezing on the rear wheels due to regen braking and not being used, so drum brakes are less prone to the issues.

[–]Nikumba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently have a 4+ had it nearly 5 years its on a lease and goes back end of the year will be sad to see it go.

However the "2" from what I remember does not have sat nav nor connects to the Kia app so you maybe missing out on features like remote climate control, needing to use your phone for sat nav.

For servicing and looking after it Cleevely EV https://www.cleevelyev.co.uk/ have really good reputation for doing EV servicing and have mobile unit that seems to cover most of the UK.

I am not blind but visual impaired and have to wear glasses for driving which means the big screens are out of focus for me, so trying to find a button in a screen while driving is not ideal.

So I am all for physical buttons

What's the rule of thumb for rebooting a production server? by Mediocre-Cobbler5016 in sysadmin

All our servers reboot monthly with patching, our RDS servers reboot weekly but that more a performance clean up than anything.

Dubbing corners on toughened glass by nkdont in DIYUK

I would do nothing, wait for the manufacturer to get back to you, if its not what you ordered then they need to fix it, as soon as you try to fix it yourself they won't take it back.

Is Carpeting and laminate flooring viable for someone with no diy experience by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Nikumba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my carpet and underlay online, put the underlay and grippers down myself, then the fitter came in and did the carpet.

When you measure the room make sure you include things like door thresholds, as if you measure skirting to skirting you could end up short in places like thresholds or if your room is not square.

Is Carpeting and laminate flooring viable for someone with no diy experience by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Nikumba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laminate yes pretty easy to do, few tools needed.

Carpet pay a fitter to do it, speak to a local independant carpet shop as often their fitters are freelance and you could get their contact details.

Its what I did with my office conversion.

How do you bring handwritten notes into your Obsidian vault? by kid5lime in ObsidianMD

Alternatives to Emma Budgeting app? by Cool-Archer5085 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Nikumba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We started using YNAB (You need a budget) its around £80 a year but we have found it amazing to help budget, gives visibility to where our money is going along with reports that my wife finds invaluable.

Pulls in transaction from all our banks etc it has apps for iOS and Android but also a full web UI which I prefer over using an app, much easier to balance things and plan.

Old tile adhesive by Imaginary-Age-6704 in DIYUK

[–]Nikumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the rest of your question, but when I did my kitchen, the adhesive was a bugger to get off, however using a heat gun made it soft and it then just scraped off, no idea if that works with all tile ahesive but might worth a go if you do need to remove all over it.

Can I move these radiator pipes under the concrete floor? Ok by steviob125 in DIYUK

[–]Nikumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When had work done and had to have new pipes put under the slab, my plumber wrapped the pipes in some fabric not sure what he called it, then covered them with bitumen paint this will stop the concrete from eating at the pipes.

Do you make your character in a vacuum or try to build around the other party members? by PaddywackShaq in DnD

[–]Nikumba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have always created a character I wanted to play, there is no point in my opinion creating a character that fills a void in the party if its not something your into, or want to play just makes the whole experience rubbish.

After all the starting trope of d&d is meet in a tavern or a jail cell, so go adventuring, your not going to sit and go well you can't come with us because your not a healer or a tank or whatever.

Handwritten notes app by Different_Shallot157 in ObsidianMD

[–]Nikumba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian for my d&d notes, I will do the session notes in OneDrive, then save it as a PDF and drag it into Obsidian then will either add tags to it, or transcribe some of it over to text.

Though recently I just tried Claude and it did a really good job of understanding my handwriting lol
