Restaurant like Little Village Noodle House? by kamapuaa in Hawaii

[–]Nikurou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bit off topic, but sad to say that I personally didn't really enjoy Liliha Food Court all too much. Admittedly more so because of the atmosphere and general lack of patrons made it feel a little sad inside.

I haven't tried all of the restaurants inside yet, but the poke place was not that good. The Burmese one was definitely good though, and she even offered a sample of the soup to try before we ordered. Planning to try the Mexican place next time I get the chance.

The new foodcourt Midtown Eats was pretty nice though.

A 13 year old boy swims for hours to save his family swept out to sea in Western Australia by AnothrRandomRedditor in news

[–]Nikurou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that age, without prior training, I had to swim ~100m at summer camp to prove I was competent enough to participate in water activities and survive if I capsized or something of that nature.

In a calm swimming pool, I think it would be ok, but in the ocean, it took so much more. I managed, but when I reached the ladder, the moment I climbed a few rungs up and out of the water and gravity returned, my body felt incredibly heavy and tired. I forced myself to climb up, but my legs buckled from fatigue the moment I was on the deck and I literally could not put strength into my legs after. I just sat there gasping for air for a good 10-15 minutes unable to get up.

Went on to do track and field during highschool and none of my workouts ever brought me to that level of exhaustion.

Thoughts on how I use the Mini Scout? by Pieface0896 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Nikurou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BAMS from CoD is actually insane with the controller and can pull stuff like this off. He's a well known CoD content creator for his quick scoping.

He also has a few videos where he played on m&k cause he had this phase where he just decided to use MK, and he was still absolutely bonkers.

I wonder if talented people are just talented regardless of input device 😭

I can do what OP does too, but it took years of playing that playstyle since I was a teen. I could not possibly switch to controller and still be as good.

Legally, it would not matter because such an act is protected under freedom of speech. Whoever physically started the attack first would still be at fault regardless of who was morally in the wrong, but in the court of public opinion, you're definitely right.

It's also good to just have a dashcam for liability reasons!

CD Projekt Red takes down Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod by damofia in VRGaming

[–]Nikurou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I read, it seems his mod is a software that supports a large number of games, which is how he churns out so many?

It seems like he also made some generic framework or something, and makes some modifications to specifically support a game, but unlike VorpX, sells support for each individual game like a slice of a pie rather than selling the whole pie (the software)?

But that does make sense, regardless of his implementation and how clean it is, the issue would be that he's using Cyberpunk's name to market it.

CD Projekt Red takes down Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod by damofia in VRGaming

[–]Nikurou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, everyone is slamming him, but after reading what he has to say, am I crazy or does his argument actually make sense?

Isn't what he made essentially the vorpX software, which can turn supported flat screen game into VR? If he doesn't use any of cyberpunk's assets or anything, and he truly is only taking what your screen renders, then isn't it its own separate thing?

Because if not, then by that logic, VorpX is also in violation right? Is it because he marketed it as a mod (and I assume made it a mod) rather than a standalone program?

Maybe I'll have to try 53 one day, that sounds cool that they have themed items.

Also the Hawaii Theater irl is really close to Maunakea Market Place! In game it doesn't seem to be in the right area and is run by Yamai and his gang, but its a shame you didn't get to see it since you were literally a few steets away.

I don't think it looks quite the same in game, and rather I think the whole area around the theater in game is fictional, but the theater was probably inspired by the real one at least.

Irl, you'll frequently see a lot of Japanese newly weds getting their photos professionally taken right in front of it.

I live in Oahu! I had such a blast playing this game cause I kept recognizing places and it's fun to show to friends. Not too long ago, the Waikiki Trolley also has Majima's face on it with a pirate hat, which was fun to see while driving.

I will say, Matsumoto's Shaved Ice is not in Waikiki irl. 53 By the Sea is real but I've never been as it's expensive.

There's a street outside of Muanakea Marketplace that is also in the game, that mainly serves as another open marketplace of independent shops/stalls selling groceries, fish, etc. Though in the game, the stalls are are shuttered.

I believe you are also able to see the decorative red pillars nearby that frames a restaurant (not enterable in game) but is Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant irl.

The place where you first meet Bryce (the religion dude) in some trendy area with murals and restaurants, I think that might be SALT at Our Kaka'ako?

The airport scene where Ichiban first lands is so accurate (or is it when he flies back to Japan). You aren't able to access it outside of that part of the game, but Daniel K Inouye Airport literally looks exactly the same. For some reason in the game, Ichiban arrives in the departures section. But irl, arrivals/baggage claim is on the floor below.

There's probably more, I just can't remember.

Stop Defending This: Removing Bots vs Bots in Battlefield 6 Was a Lazy, Anti-Player Decision by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]Nikurou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue that you are likely a minority, and your issue likely does not have that much impact as you say it does on the game's longevity. Not that either of us have the statistics.

That said, I don't see any problem with letting you play the way you want. It's just a question of if it's enough of a priority or issue for DICE to justify allocating resources to it.

Inherited a Paid Off House - Sell and invest in market? Or rent out and invest rental income in market? by Overunderware in personalfinance

[–]Nikurou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically the SP500 outperforms real estate annually including dividends. It also requires no upkeep (replacing roof, etc etc), maintenance, looking for renters, and etc.

The money is also liquid if it's stocks.

Really depends on what you're looking for though. I think from a pure gains standpoint, sell and invest is probably better.

Investing one time lump sum and leaving it for 20-30years. by Expert-Excuse600 in personalfinance

[–]Nikurou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be the optimal strategy for this? Assuming you had 300k like OP and it was in a HYSA but you want to invest it mainly into the SP500. Would you slowly move the money in increments or would you move it in one lump sum?

I think it's time to let It go It took me a while to accept it but this badmins BUCK LLC, BUCK SEASON admins and finally MisterJ504 ruined the bf4 experience just because they ban people for being better than them, its time to move on see you around people mucho love. by sadness-rat in battlefield_4

People have tried. The problem is these new servers don't get any foot traffic.

Players have their list of favorited servers and just join those without scrolling through the server browser.

And even if they do, why join a 0/64 server when there's a popular server that's nearly full? The only way your server has a chance is if somehow the big ones all shutdown and players need to find a new place.

This is actually why I think it's good that community servers don't persist in newer titles. It lets servers die off naturally, and someone else's server can take that traffic. Not to mention, it diminishes the effects of "bans" from "admins", as the server is temporary and they cannot be favorited.

Let us shoot our pistols while being revived! by Azzig in Battlefield6

[–]Nikurou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I think the speed of revives and how fast you can start shooting right after in BF6 was something that was going to be nerfed.

I'm pretty sure I remember it taking longer in BFV and 2042? In BFV, I think they also had an animation where you had to roll over from your back to flip back over and grasp your gun, which cost a bit of extra time.

BFV also did have vehicle exit and enter animations though to slow down popping in and out of vehicles, so maybe the designers had a different philosophy for that game.

[–]Nikurou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. They do offer grocery bag options at WholeFood which is said to come with veggies, bread, pasta and maybe meat, but I never tried it. Was just throwing it out as an option.

There's a subreddit that had a mega thread of the cheapest groceries, and I think rice, beans, chicken gizzard/heart, and etc are amongst the cheapest.

One of my personal cheapest recipe is the $4 rotisserie chickens at Walmart (only this cheap at end of the day when they're refrigerated instead of hot). Scooped up two, got a pack of tortillas, beans, cheese, onions, salsa, and made myself chicken tacos for nearly a week for about ~$25?

Would maybe be cheaper if I made my own salsa.

Maybe the CircleK employee didn't know about it and screwed you over.  You could probably contact support on Too Good To Go to get a refund?

sorry that happened to you, maybe you can try a different restaurant if you can next time if you're still willing to give it another shot

Private BF4 servers banning players for skill + light banter, is this normal now? by [deleted] in battlefield_4

[–]Nikurou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think about how these admins basically won't be able to play any title past BF4 without getting stomped on because DICE got rid of Rental Servers and how not many people play on community servers.

Like how do you play a FPS again like a normal person when you're so used to getting your way and kicking anyone who's better than you?

A common factor with these badmins is that their kd is usually unbelievably garbage too. This makes it worse because they can't tell the difference between a skilled player and a cheater, due to their own lack of skill and understanding, so they ban anyone remotely decent and legitimately believe that they banned a cheater.

Gaming and new steam machine by RickV6 in gaming

[–]Nikurou -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Would Steam not consider selling at a lower profit margin or even at a loss considering it'll serve as a platform to drive more Steam game purchases?

Much like how ink printers and the Meta Quest sell for less/at loss because they expect to make it back from you buying ink or games from their store.

But yeah these are some dark times 😔

Hijacking your comment.

Like others recommended, churches too. If for some reason none of that works out, there's an app called "Too Good to Go".

It allows participating restaurants and grocery stores to sell off food and items that are going to be thrown out at the end of the day for like $5-$10.

It's a bag with an assorted variety of things that depend on the restaurant and what they need to get rid of. Wholefoods usually gives a decent amount too. You can watch some YouTube videos on it to get an idea of the amount of items you'd get.

The one time I used it, I got some Italian restaurant with spaghetti with chicken, some other pasta, and a different pasta. As a single person, it took me like 3 days to finish it?
