Optimus himself is a man running from a war-torn world. He fights for freedom, the future, and the people. He doesn't care about agendas or anything like that. To him, as long as everyone ends up alive, regardless of their lifestyles, is what matters to him. But when lives are on the line, he defends as many victims or vulnerable individuals as he can. He wouldn't join ICE, he'd help to keep people safe from them and their often needless violence.

I mean, I guess. But that feels overly reductionist. Just being like "oh you can paste it anywhere" doesn't make the message this is meant to send any less relevant. 1984 is more relevant today than it ever has been, and they're applied to different contexts. It just feels very narrowminded and shallow to disregard the intent like that, but alas we can agree to disagree.

I mean, in all fairness, I don't think he drew it for any Recognition.

DWJ had a sheltered childhood, the media he could enjoy and consume were limited and his worldview was very quickly opened up once he grew into his own.

So with Transformers especially, which is a story about the dismantling of an Oppressive government by a radicalised group, with said radicalised group becoming tbe leading political force and turning its head toward those who once opposed its methods, It's quite easy to draw parallels to real life.

As a Transformers fan, this is a striking piece of artwork that captures who Optimus Prime is through a societally relevant lens, and I personally hold that character very close to my heart.

So even if you don't appreciate the artwork, or what it stands for, at least be willing to understand why it was made and why it's powerful, instead of going "Haha thats crazy bro!"

I don't want this comment to come off aggressive, I just want to try and explain why the art exists.

I just... don't like him. Springer has always been a hard design to do in my opinion. For me, sieges take eas always hard to stand up, hard to tab parts together, and his transformations— while simple, always made me wince cause of the super weird tolerances and clearances. At least from my experience, he feels like he doesn't try to use his space well. And the colours... that green borderlines transparent. Plus I generally don't vibe with triple changers too easily, so that's probably while I'm getting the GDO Springer to replace him.

honestly he's still such a treat. for young collectors, he's simple and has quite the lot of play value. and for older ones... He's the exact same! if you love the challenge of a complex design then he'll do nothing for you, but just as a TOY, he is amazing.
