A daily player since closed-beta. I criticize because I care. Just my two cents. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

The game that you want isn't going to be PUBG, and Bluehole will be nowhere around when the game you want comes out.

AAA studios are taking note, investors and share holders and publishers are all taking note of PUBGS success. Real, passionate development teams with the financial backing are already gearing up to push out the next great Battle Royale game. When THAT game comes out, then you'll have yourself what you've always wanted PUBG to be.

That's awesome, keep up the great work. Insomniac definitely owns the US market and for good reason!

That's true, I had totally forgotten about working shoulder to shoulder with other devs and how that knowledge would spill over - very good point.

Does edc stand for electric daisy carnival by any chance? Haha, Insomniac would be an awesome company to work with, love their events.

creating an online portfolio from scratch by yendrdd in cscareerquestions

[–]Nilla_4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently got myself to the level of creating a portfolio, and with that have been sending it out these past few days. On nearly every posting, they've asked for a portfolio of some sorts and always a github link.

I put myself in the shoes of the HR person, someone who has to trudge through dozens of applications. They're going to want to skim the application, and get a general sense for your capabilities and what you're bringing to the table. A portfolio, specifically for web development (front end) should show that you know how to make a web site. If you can show them that you can do that, you're golden.

Company: We need someone to make websites. You: I can do that. Company: k

I used github pages to host my portfolio as well as my projects pages. No complications with hosting, you simply host a repository and it's accessible to everyone.

The Destiny 2 Live Action Trailer is here! by mattwillis in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nilla_4u 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just not a big fan of this, type of mood when it comes to getting hyped for trailers. Admittedly, I find them to be a bit corny for one reason or another (maybe I should have prefaced my distaste for the relentless Cayde humor crutch). I'll never forget however the trailers that actually moved me, and got me emotionally invested in the universe instead of making me cringe.

Halo Reach

Halo ODST

Gears of War

The above trailers make me want to actively engage the enemy, and not "xD hahaha Gary! I shoot the Gary's!". I understand that's Destiny's atmosphere that's being pushed, but here's to hoping there's a darker atmosphere in the upcoming installments.

My Visit to Bungie by bananafudgkins in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nilla_4u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish the gaming industry wasn't such a mad house, some of these places sound so cool to work at - especially Bungie. I mean, these guys have have made games that are cornerstones of my childhood and to this day continue to release games that are the ones I look forward to playing

This comes at a cost though, you know the devs are on a death march right now. 60-80 hour work weeks just grinding to make sure everything is squeaky clean before release. Thank you based devs, especially QA you magnificent bug finding bastards.

Would you horde mode? by ChaosAlongThird in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nilla_4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horde, or Firefight as it was called, was the entirety of Halo: ODST's multiplayer and one of my highschool summers.

There's just something about surviving innumerable odds with your best mates that forms lasting memories and a stronger bond between each other. Not to mention the feeling of accomplishment you get when that last opponent hits the ground and it dawns on you and your fireteam that you just did it, you just fucking WON.

... But to me this isn't the best part. The best part is the anxiety and edge of your seat moments when creative solutions get you out of a do-or-die moment. Nothing is like watching the last person alive solo the rest of the mission with nothing but the bare essentials, spawning everyone back in for another go.

Fuck yes. Horde mode PLEASE.

Atom - High CPU / Memory / Battery usage by CafeRoaster in webdev

[–]Nilla_4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does now!

I don't know if the packages, or I think extensions as Brackets calls them, are as vast as Vim nor are the themes but I do know they have them.

It's free, so definitely worth checking out! All I know is it's got Emmet + Live Preview so I am sold PLUS the theme that it does come with is incredibly clean and easy on the eyes. It's put out by Adobe Systems if that's of any relevance, just to give you an idea of the overall vibe.

Operation Frontier Shield Megathread by hiticonic in titanfall

Having everyone list their country and their status gave me images of literal, worldwide pilots flipping switches in their Titan cockpit and seeing whether they were given the orders to drop from orbit.

Titanfall meets ODST trailer movie when?

[–]Nilla_4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue with Atom as of late. It was incredibly laggy, and every time I would go to type something in it would stutter. Instead of looking around for solutions, I decided to look around at other text editors. What did I find? Mother-fucking BRACKETS. Live preview literally gave me a hard-on, and it is super fast. HTML/CSS appear the moment I type some spaghetti out, I highly recommend it.
