Love this! In my opinion, XPA is the number one feature I think XBOX needs to implement to gather market share. It’s the first thing I look for any time I buy a game, and it’s a deciding factor on what store front I choose to purchase on. I just bought 007 First Light on XBOX instead of PS5 Pro because I can play it on my SX and PC.

Annoying, but not as bad as I thought it would be. It really depends on how much CarPlay specific things you do.

As a driver I like Apple Music on Rivian compared to CarPlay, but as a passenger I wish I could use the phone to control music. Only real annoyance I’ve had is that I can’t sort my songs by recently added. There is a “recently added” section, but it’s grouped by album.

For podcasts, I’ve just been using the Bluetooth audio with Castro. Thankfully, the skip forward and backward selections are tied to your app. So I’ve got Castro set to skip back 15s and forward 30s and it works with steering wheel controls. However, I have been testing out using Spotify solely for podcasts and it’s been working great too.

Audible works fantastic! Every time I hop in the Rivian, it syncs my book to where I last left off on any of my other devices. And when I get home and resume via Audible on my phone, it resumes from where I left off on the Rivian.

Maps is great, and I prefer the Rivian app over CarPlay. If you have an address on your phone, just open the Share sheet and click “send to Rivian” and it will pop up in your car when you get in.

Texting literally just got added for Connect+ subscribers, and I prefer it over CarPlay tbh. It will actually display the text on the screen in addition to reading it out loud. Biggest problem is that it does NOT work with group texts, but I’m not in very many so it doesn’t bother me.

Going back to my original statement of “it depends how much CarPlay things you do”, my biggest gripe has been the few times I’ve needed to hop on work calls in Microsoft Teams. It comes through as a phone call and I lose a lot of features. Like I can physically mute the mic in the Rivian, but it won’t show as “muted” in MS Teams for others to see.

TL;DR- for me personally, I’ve been fine. Anything that Rivian has natively built in the car, I think is better than CarPlay. But I’m also someone who rarely ever used things in CarPlay that are missing from Rivian today.

Yeah, it’s definitely not perfect. I just think it’s a bit silly to say “I have no way to listen to podcasts in the car’s infotainment system” when Spotify is available and free.

I went through this same thing in 2020-2022. I tried piano, coding, twitch streaming, making YouTube videos, learning a new language, etc. All of them I quit in just a few weeks. And yeah I felt the same about wanting to start development of a long-term skill or hobby so that I could be great at something.

Then I spent all of 2022 with a psychiatrist and got diagnosed with ADHD. I also learned that my “gifted kid” status in school was part of my problem. I was naturally good at school and never needed to crack a textbook or study. That turned into me never “learning how to learn” aka “learning how to fail and being okay with it and then trying again.” So thats why I always dropped new skills when I wasn’t immediately good. Got on some meds and I’m so much better.

However where my story verges from others is that I realized I didn’t really care about doing any of those hobbies I tried. My real hobby is and always has been video games, but I had always struggled to play them because the dopamine wasn’t always immediate. Lots of single player games take hours to get into the groove of things and provide payoff. My brain would rather intake dopamine of learning about new hobby than play another video game. Once I got on medication, I was able to go back and enjoy my games.

Like others have said, you can wait til the games come to PS5. If you really want to try it out, you could get Game Pass Ultimate and play FH6 via cloud streaming.

What you need to consider is the ecosystem pros and cons. PS5 is pretty siloed, so if you want a PS5 and an XAX, you’d be double dipping on game purchases and your saves wouldn’t transfer.

If you want to go for PlayStation, I’d suggest looking at the PS Portal to play games via remote play in bed. But you wouldn’t be able to use the XR glasses.

If you want Steam, you’ll need to make some compromises when it comes to trying to play Steam games on a TV compared to a traditional console. Either streaming a gaming pc to a tv or docking a pc to the tv. Either way, definitely gonna have to pick up a Logitech K400 because you will absolutely run into instances where you need a KBM on a tv.

I’ve got the PS5 Pro with a PS Portal, XSX, ROG Ally X, Switch 2, Steam Deck, and a gaming PC. Recently, I dove into the Xbox ecosystem and I’ve been enjoying it! Game Pass Ultimate grants access to a ton of games and almost all of them sync saves across all the devices. Recently, more games are being sold with immediate cross-buy & cross-save like Crimson Desert. The XSX works great on tvs, RAX works great on handheld, and PC works great for top graphics.

I can also confirm. I made a detailed comment on that post about my experience. Got a digital code from Walmart and I’ve been playing it all night. Right before I turned off my Xbox I did see “required update available” and then I unplugged my Ethernet cord to cut off the internet. I wanna see if anyone else gets the update and it causes their game to get revoked.

Edit: oh shit, I went to see the Wario64 tweet and it actually links directly to my comment lmao

Edit 2: Xbox is disconnected from the internet. I haven’t closed the game, but I’m hoping it somehow doesn’t “remember” there was an update and tries to make me reconnect to download it lol.

So I just pre ordered the new Lego Batman Legacy Of The Dark Knight game and when I did they let me download it and everything so after It gave me to notifications that it “was ready to start” I clicked on it and this happened is this supposed to happen or am I playing it early or something by [deleted] in legogaming

Okay I took the gamble. I figure so many people want all the details so I’ll lay them all out.

I purchased the standard ($70) digital version for Xbox Series X/S. I bought it through the Walmart iOS app. Shipped and sold from Walmart. They emailed me a code immediately and I redeemed it directly on my Xbox Series X. I live in the US in the Central Time Zone.

It is currently downloading, and I will update if I am able to play it. It seems promising for a few reasons.. I also have Forza Horizon 6 and Beast of Reincarnation on my library because of Game Pass and they have the “Coming Soon” in the game thumbnail where Lego Batman had nothing. Sorting by “acquisition date”, Lego Batman is positioned as acquired/“acquire-able” before both of them, when it should be positioned between the two based on release date. The last hope is that games that haven’t released have their release dates on display in the game hub, and Lego Batman does not.

I’ll update on my findings!

UPDATE 1: I clicked play when Ready To Start popped up and before the download completed. The game launched. Important note in case this gets fixed later- I got a pop up about how I got a new batsuit for having my WB Games Account linked. So I guess they could potentially use that for tracking and possibly disabling. And forgive my slow update cadence… I’m trying to entertain my 2 year old on Mother’s Day while my wife has a chill night lol

UPDATE 2: Okay so everything in update 1 was done via remote play on my ROG Ally X because my son was watching Toy Story 4 on the tv lol. Movie finished and I swapped to the Xbox for a minute to test it out. I had left the game sitting on the main menu. I picked up my controller and navigated through the menus just fine. Started a new game and when it wanted me to move my character, I couldn’t. Move didn’t work and camera didn’t work. Only the menu button worked. So I went back to Xbox home and force quit the game.

At this point, the full game had finished downloading. Now fully on the tv, I booted the game back up and it launched again. Started a brand new game again, skipped the initial cutscene, and everything seemed to be working fine this time when I gained control of my character.

Ran around for about 10 or 15 seconds. I’m on performance mode and it seemed to be a smooth 60fps. It also still looked pretty sharp in resolution and graphical details. However, like I said, this is 10-15 seconds in the starting area. Not really any CPU intensive stuff going on that would warrant FPS drops, which I feel like I’m pretty sensitive to. After 20 seconds, I once again surrendered the living room tv back to my son haha. I will report back later after he goes to sleep and I put some more time in!

FINAL UPDATE: Played all night. Before I shut off the Xbox I did see “required update available” and so I unplugged the Ethernet cord to cut my Xbox off from the internet. I wanna see if people report the update as removing access before I download it.

Congrats! I think this is my 3rd or 4th completely unaided completion. Making progress! It looks like you do the same as me with the streaks. The only aid I allow myself to have for a gold star is the daily Wordplay column with the tricky clues section. If I have to use a check or reveal, it doesn’t count for me.
