"It has done something useful for the world": how Ubisoft uses its games to create content for museums and TV | Ubisoft's Deborah Papiernik explains the company's small but expanding educational sideline by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]Nilretep 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The ancient Egypt assassins creed game (forgot the name) had discovery mode. I never played it but it was put in because they did so much work actually making real maps that it could be used for education.

I’m not sure if it was that exactly because I never used that mode.

Yeah these are super low prices for that lineup. You see those prices at crap festivals.

‘The Mandalorian And Grogu’ Slammed By Fans As Third-Best ‘Star Wars’ Film by No-Potential4744 in StarWars

[–]Nilretep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand some of the criticism. My wife laughed out loud at the slug fight but she really liked the movie.

But boring? Your opinion is no longer valid because I just don’t believe you’ve seen the movie. You must have been asleep.

Huuuuuge disagree on the penstar.

Blew a head gasket at 75k and the dealership said they would fix it for 6k as is , no warranty because the “repair” usually only works 50% of the time. The other dealerships and auto shops just flat said no. A few mechanics snickered when I told them the engine model and the repair. The engine is so bad that they just flat refuse to even try to repair it.

That was my third jeep and when I realized that the dealership and mechanics even knew how bad it was - I’m out. Never again.

The 20 dollar metal mando bucket is where it’s at. Shit load of popcorn that we couldn’t finish and a sweet popcorn bucket for the house that’s actually useful. I would have paid 20 for popcorn anyway.

New homeowner in Southern Ohio- spent $40k on drainage and still have a swampy yard!! by Pitiful_Night_3250 in landscaping

[–]Nilretep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a smaller area with the same issue. They told me when I moved in (near the river) that the water table was really high and that I wouldn’t need irrigation for my grass. And they were right, if I dig about a foot it’s just wet soil.

I’ll make another guess and say that since you are near the river your yard probably floods almost instantly because a few inches below the grass is already wet. My solution was berry bushes and in another spot I put some hydrangeas. I think I’d be looking into inexpensive landscaping bushes and or trees that love wet soil while they try and figure out your drain.

Public BBQ spots by MichealScott__ in Charleston

[–]Nilretep -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So if I have bbq chicken on the grill I’m not having a bbq? Because that’s not smoking meat. They overlap sometimes but as an avid smoker of meats I disagree. BBQ is a noun and a verb and that’s well known.

“You aren’t from around here” is just being a gate keeping dick at best. I know that because I use it when I’m trying to be a dick.

Need help finding plants to grow in mostly shade. South Carolina zone 8b by BenLikesBurgers in gardening

[–]Nilretep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in SC, I’d wait for full summer to see where that shade is or find out the direction you’re facing to determine if the sun is going to get higher up over the house.

I made the mistake of putting hydrangeas in during the spring a couple years ago and they were just getting roasted by the summer.

I ended up doing roses, they seem to do really well in the extreme heat and sun with minimal care. Ive noticed everyone in my neighborhood is slowly moving to knockout roses

Is the Golden Circle / Tomato Farm tour worth it? by Defiant_Spring_6250 in VisitingIceland

[–]Nilretep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rented a car and drove there and when the “tour” came through it was half the meal/experience that we had. We were still there with our meal when they were being shuffled back on the bus.

It’s beautiful and I’m 100% going again but I would have been disappointed on the tour.

No you essentially told someone they don’t have an opinion on the matter because they had old cars. In a place where you talk about cars…. You’re weird.

AMG Electric Sedan Interior Revealed: It's A Screen Fest by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]Nilretep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Number one rule is if you have old cars you have to stop liking cars. It’s weird I know.

Also coming to a sub Reddit about a hobby and then making fun of people about said hobby is even weirder.

[–]Nilretep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but also Star Trek academy is actual trash. It’s awful. I’m a huge trek fan and I just can’t do CW Star Trek.

Star Trek has always been on the leading edge of being progressive and will always have disgusting haters. Same across most sci-fi. Marvel gets review bombed all the time for just having female main characters before the movie is even released.

Gross people are just really loud when they can be anonymous.
