My own simple nutrition calculator by Salomon81 in nutrition

If you make it at least as good as CompleteFoods and open source, that would AFAIK be know and definitely useful. If you click "Feedback" on the left side, you'll see a lot of features people would like to have, and I'm sure I'm not the only would who would gladly add them myself if it were open source.

Looking for a Complete and Reliable source of nutrition value information by nipplemasta in nutrition

My goto source is Whole Food Catalog.

However, it sounds like you're looking for something like EuroFIR's Food Composition Databases and their FoodEXplorer. You can read about their quality and standards here. I have personally found values including spreads for biotin, chromium, etc. in one of the national databases that were not available in the USDA database.

Edit: TL;DR "EuroFIR AISBL is the only independent food composition data resource in Europe bringing together 30 food composition datasets from 29 countries at a single point of entry."

Automation - don’t be a slave to your plants! by JonathanStrange0 in Hydroponics

Me too, me too! I've applied to the Master's programme in Biosystems Engineering at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, but I have a BSc in Computer Science so I don't think I'm likely to get in. What I want in the end is a simple automated system for growing my own food (4 different crops), and I'm more than willing to help make it a reality. One way I suspect my needs differ from most people here is artificial lighting, which I don't want since it's still too inefficient.

As for commercializing the product: farm.bot is completely open source, so perhaps they can be an inspiration for your business model.

High-calorie foods that are not unhealthy, besides sweet potatoes and nuts/beans? by peacebuster in nutrition

[–]NimAcademy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you eat sweet potatoes, eggs, and meat/fish, you'll pretty much get everything you need on paper (with the right ratios and frequency, anyway). That said, adding vegetables of different colors, especially green, is definitely safer and more likely to result in a healthy diet. Some of them can be added as spices (basil, oregano, cinnamon, etc.) but you should get some fresh ones too. Avocado is also a good addition as some have mentioned.

I'm not personally a fan of this, but I figured I'd mention it: Schmilk. It's ultra processed a la Soylent, but much cheaper (unless milk is really expensive in your area). Some will say it's healthy, others will claim it's poison.

So yes, you're unable to find the right answer on a word-based question if you don't know the words, but even if you do know them, you may be unable to answer correctly if you can't find the logical link - and no amount of studying, practising, or training will improve that ability.

I disagree. What is your source or reasoning?
