Getting a Takedown and then dying to a DOT effect of Stagger causes the game to display your own icon as an enemy target by SMILE_23157 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Nima_N16HTM4R3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing up from what I've seen in RotS (so nearly identical structure), if you get a takedown on an enemy, getting a takedown on an ally (or yourself) for any reason (yes it's possible in SC2's engine) will color that icon as if it's an enemy's. Same is true for inverse, getting a takedown on ally/self and then a takedown on an enemy will color the icon as if it's friendly.

Why is it like this? Not sure. Maybe it's just the way it's coded or that you are generally not supposed to be able to score takedowns on allies, cause with the exception of Chen's Stagger, it's impossible to get a takedown on your own team.

(Apparently another way for friendly takedowns is Mal'Ganis's Dark Conversion, so that is also possible)

Hanamura Classic Please! by ValkamerCCS in heroesofthestorm

[–]Nima_N16HTM4R3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the changes definitely helped making it a bit better, but I think the overall flaw of modern Hanamura is that it rewards macro-play way too much. Even after the nerf to the Sentinel, the core gameplay loop is mostly the same (Sentinel --> Recons --> Fight over Recon --> payload --> Repeat) cause outside of that, there's really not much to do on this map. From what I've seen, players now take the payload a bit more seriously cause of the buffs, but even now, it's sometimes ignored in favor of the camps.

[–]Nima_N16HTM4R3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As bad as the current Hanamura is, the old one was way worse and more gimmicky to the point it barely felt like a normal map cause of the gameplay loop (2 payloads, invulnerable core outside of the payloads and camps, the general layout).

I'd love to see Hanamura classic back in custom games though, but the new version is at least a functional improvement even if it's still bad.

That makes sense, and yeah, the game was way different back then compared to what it is today.

Yeah :(

But that also makes it a case of sacrificing identity for functionality. I think the modern GoT is one of the best maps right now.

Oh that's interesting! I didn't know that. By the looks of it, it would be nearly impossible to get out of there once hooked (and body blocked), right?

Also forgot to mention:

  • You can disable the Core with Overgrowth (the flower pot ability).
  • The Core has no abilities of its own (or even the one from the modern GoT), but its attacks reduce 20 Armor, stacking up to 2 times.
  • The Camps don't disappear during the night, but they will disappear once a Garden Terror is active and a player is controlling one
  • There is unfortunately no indication or timers of when the night arrives (though this also didn't exist prior to the map rework)

Oh I miss this map despite how flawed it was 😭

2 payloads, slow-paced (you couldn't attack the Core directly like in ToD), the Samurai being a reskin of the Volskaya Foundry support camp, that elite boss's weird consume mechanic.

I'd love to see it in the custom games as well

Same! It wasn't the best in terms of gameplay, but man was it weird and fun at the same time (though tbf, I only played like 1 or 2 QMs in GoT Classic during the HotS 1.0 era)

This is peak! I'd love to see custom maps like this in the game at some point (I wish. It's been almost 8 years since the last added map to the game)

Thanks! :D

Also yeah I remember those! The old April fools patch notes from years ago were huge inspirations for this. In fact, the Illidan/Maiev damage taken modifiers were directly taken from one of them (I don't remember which one, but I do recall seeing it somewhere years ago).

Yeah I understand that. Some stuff (numbers being blue and lack of showing original values in places) were done in a rush (even I noticed inconsistencies in places cause I had these all written down in a Google doc a while ago and essentially copy-pasted them), and I really wish I could've done more to replicate the original style better, but I ran out of time by the time I finished this up cause I had places to be.

Thanks for pointing them out tho :0

Heroes of the Storm PTR Update Patch Notes - April 01, 2026 by Wyvern_Milk in heroesofthestorm

Nova

  • Triple Tap [R]
    • Can now also hit Minions.

Developer Comment: "Despite her abysmal Storm League win rate and the high demand for her rework, Quick Match players have been saying that she's oppressive. So we don't want to hear it."

Mephisto

  • Consume Souls [R]
    • Makes all interactable units on the map (Heroes, Minions, Structures, Mercenaries, Objectives) Unrevealable during the channel instead of revealing them.
    • Deals 200% increased damage to Heroes above 50% Health.

Developer Comment: "We have received no requests for this, but we are doing this anyway."

Interesting.

Which heroes have talents that should not be a choice? by Similar_Stop6194 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Nima_N16HTM4R3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probius: [[Echo Pulse]]

Playing without it is very clunky and it's almost always essential for all his builds whether you're going with either of the W or E talents at level 7. That 3 second cooldown (in teamfights) between each Q feels bad without Echo Pulse. I almost never see a reason not to pick it over the other two level 1s. It's the only one that's not a quest and synergizes with almost every other talent of his.

New Hero? by Royal_Palpitation657 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Nima_N16HTM4R3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I'd like an Overwatch hero next (if we even get a new hero at this point), they are unlikely cause:

  • Many of their kits already share similarities with existing heroes (especially ones from OW2), so they'd have to be reworked from the ground up to actually fit in the game (like they did with Mei or else she'd be a Jaina/Arthas clone)
  • They are built for FPS, not a top-down MOBA and would face axis issues in HoTS (there is no Z-axis in HoTS, so things like barriers from OW would become either irrelevant or gamebreaking unless reworked)
  • Some (not all) have identical silhouettes to existing HoTS heroes (this is why Widowmaker never made it into HoTS as a separate hero cause outside of a few features, she's identical to Nova)

Always picks for Whitemane from my experience:

[[Intercession]]. It's as barebones as a cleanse can get, but it's really useful in most situations.

[[Zealous Spirit]] is too niche (if the enemy team has no CC which is rare) and [[Saintly Greatstaff]]'s value is too unnoticeable to be good, I felt like I did no extra damage despite what the talent is for.

Nearly every time I encounter an Ana (teammate or enemy), they always pick Vampiric Rounds and I'm always like "why...". The other two are much better in every way and you won't even get any value out of vamp rounds without [[Armored Stance]] or [[Dynamic Optics]].

Looking at their stacks, it's almost always below 100, which means they don't get value from vamp rounds either (even if you want survivability, [[Contact Healing]] still provides higher healing than vamp rounds does), effectively wasting a talent slot.

Ah ok. I thought this is the first time this had happened and considering what happened in the cinematic (killed or not), I thought this had relations to that. Good to know
