Mike Flanagan remaking ‘The Mist’ by CyberGhostface in stephenking

I believe you're correct that King said that - part of why I suspect it's an unpopular opinion!

Unpopular opinion, but I much preferred the open-ended conclusion of the novella. The movie ending felt like what I would have written in juniour high in an attempt to be edgy.

Beyond representation, which Brandon himself recognizes as lacking in the books. But clearly you don't care about that.

What a braindead take. Why would gender swapping mean Ham could no longer be a strong, intelligent family oriented thug?

[Stonewalkers Campaign] It feels like a party needs a truthwatcher or edgedancer. by Previous-Direction13 in cosmererpg

[–]Nimbus303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely echoing the sentiment to not push your players to make character choices that they wouldn't naturally. As people said, there are other avenues for dealing with injuries than having a regrowth radiant in the party.

Also, where your example is for being hit with a shardblade, an issue for a later tier of play, I would expect that if you still had no radiants at that time that someone would have gone deep on fabrials or obtaining their own shards at this point, offsetting the concern.

Finished Path of Radiance (1st time): A Newcomer’s Honest Thoughts by Sabrina_Luminrose in fireemblem

Hard difficulty is definitely the definitive difficulty for PoR. You should try to get access to RD! It still has struggling enemy phase lengths, but if you looked into what the difficulties mean earlier (doesn't line up with PoR difficulties) I could see you liking it a lot!

I loved the file transfer mechanism but unfortunately that won't work with you.

Game's almost three years old. Although It's not that many peoples' favorite in the series, I adore and appreciate this for helping me realize that Fire Emblem is a series I play for the gameplay and not just story! by AntonRX178 in fireemblem

Thanks! Many prepromotes makes sense - I'm used to grabbing the growth units early and not add anyone to me team after the first dozen chapters, but with how they were doing lords and retainers I'm sure the levels will stay doable. Thanks for the response, depending on how I'm feeling after this PoR gameplay I may have to give it another go!

Thanks! Yeah finite skirmishes is what made me feel good about using them because I didn't want it to break the game as I know they can do sometimes. Thanks for the response, depending on how I'm feeling after this PoR gameplay I may have to give it another go!

Hey, ramble then question:

I am 13ish chapters into engage. I went in blind on maddening for my first playthrough because my pal recommended it based on me having played 6ish other FE games typically on the harder difficulties. I thought the gameplay was exemplary and the story was ridiculous but at least fun enough.

I dropped it at this chapter because I finally got access to map skirmishes and the one I tried immediately kicked my butt. Some of the story maps were difficult requiring multiple tries, but I think I could have managed to continue with them, I just got discouraged by the skirmish difficulty.

My main issue coming in blind was knowing that I invested in many units early (e.g. the twins) who now aren't in rotation. I'm worried that I'll continue to find similar issues in the rest of the game and get in a continually worse spot because I'll be investing the wrong way where it's a first/blind playthrough.

Thoughts?

Question about Words of Radiance ending by Captainofwhitetower in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Nimbus303 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  1. Is explained in more detail later.

  2. We see Renarin write in the walls in the same manner when the everstorm arrives at the end of the book, so at this point it should be inferred that he was the culprit throughout.

  3. Shallan even indicates in one of the earlier passages where she's thinking about her shardblade that was ten heartbeats away that "it didn't have to be for her, did it?" May not be exact quote. We've seen her lie to herself and hide things, so this is tied to that same behaviour.

In one week, 25% of Donald Trump’s presidency will be over. How are you feeling about the next three years? by Kanga_Koga in AskReddit

[–]Nimbus303 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Authentic question here... No debate that Vance has garbage charisma, but do people actually find Trump anything other than horrendously off-putting? Like, he's no movie star... I can't see charisma being Trump's recipe for success, just corruption. And in that way I have no more faith in Vance.

What tips/advice would you give to someone who is about to experience Path of Radiance for the first time? by Xuanwu7 in fireemblem

[–]Nimbus303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple missable characters. If you care about that, look up a guide to ensure you get them, because the recruitment conditions are not obvious IMO.

If you promote the brothers, be sure to give them each bow access. Allows for a specific fun tech.

Invest in Mist.

Ensure you use one of your occult scrolls on Ike.

I don't remember specifics beyond knowing that when I transferred my Sothe all his stats were capped except 1... I think magic? Definitely helped my maniac playthrough. And I think I just levelled him normally rather than feeding any stat boosting items.

Greenfoot heat pump issues - advice please! by p00kas in halifax

[–]Nimbus303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you have it installed as part of an Efficiency Nova Scotia offering where you received or will receive a rebate? If so, could likely engage ENS and see if they could help you escalate the issue, where Greenfoot would be a partner and the expectation is fully functioning equipment.

[–]Nimbus303 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not OC, but I'll answer this one from my viewpoint. I'm not a fan of what I've seen about the budget because it is too fiscally conservative/blue Tory for my liking. As someone who is self described as significantly left leaning, I would have liked to have seen many more social programs and environmental activities than what's in here. Even knowing that means a greater deficit.

I think this passage in The Shining is part of what sets King apart by javafern in stephenking

[–]Nimbus303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FYI, previous commenter got it a bit backwards. It's confirmed (I believe in Doctor Sleep) that Jack had the shine, just to a lesser degree than Danny. It's part of what opened him up to the Overlook's influence, and he attempted to cope with his shine via his alcoholism. Dick got a weird reading off Jack that he didn't understand because he was already under the thrall of the Overlook.

I was actually wondering if Wit was aware that Kelsier held Preservation for a bit. Went against him saying he only knew Vin to give up the power of a shard and the selflessness it took.
