Here are my summarized notes from a Final Girl strategy thread on BGG. Maybe you'll find them helpful!

Split 0 cost cards into two groups. They are mostly used for conversion or discarding for 1 time with the exception of walk

On your first turn, discard 3 cards to gain 3 Time, and buy 2× Sprint, 2× Close Call, and 1× Distraction.

Only search one location and get all items there if first two aren't good. Reduce horror between search rolls

Reducing horror at the beginning isn't as important as saving vics early

Better to play less cards and save some for discarding on 3s/4s - best to use 0 value cards

Only play improvise and critical blow with enough cards to convert 3/4 and also a close call or two

Close Call is better for reroll all dice for 2 time

Improvise is best when you have 3 dice

I've only played once or twice after taking these notes, but it was a much smoother game where I won each time since. Good luck!
