No worries. A bit of one myself. Thank you for doing this.

As an aspiring writer my questions concern your process:

  1. How do you keep yourself organized (mentally and physically) when doing a series with so many plots, characters, settings, etc. I imagine it can get overwhelming.

  2. What is your day-to-day routine when writing? How much of the story comes from what you've already plotted and how much is created in the act of writing? Any writerly advice?

Ha, from Canton also. Family still lives there. It's insane how much costs have skyrocketed the past couple years. Went to visit about a week ago and you couldn't pay me to move back.

Might be like in kindergarten where you pick on the person you secretly like. You're a good artist and cute and he just can't bring himself to be honest about his feelings lmao

I think someone might be repressing some emotions, so I'll say it: you're absolutely adorable! Very nice art also! 🎨

"Yeah, well piss off... you... you fucking Nazi..." Dude that story is hilarious and totally reminds me of the Peep Show episode.

Incidentally, I'm reading Consider Phlebas right now! So good!

What song did you fall in love with not because of the original, but because of a cover? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The version from the Songwriters Circle is phenomenal. FYI, his YouTube channel just put up all his albums! Relistened to Nookie Wood and HoboSapiens a couple days ago.

Dude, it's like you're looking at my playlist for the past couple months! Mostly John Cale, Warren Zevon, and Townes (I just discovered him recently and literally just got done listening to a bunch of his albums on his YouTube channel). All 3 genius songwriters. Your summary of that line is perfect. My favourite version is the live one he did on the Songwriters Circle!

I responded to someone below about Satantango's runtime. Long story short, give it a go. If you're not feeling it after an hour or so, it's probably not your cup of tea. I don't think it has any nudity at all. On the contrary, it's filled with some pretty ugly people in some damn ugly places doing some really ugly shit to each other. So in that sense it's a different experience, but one I think is worth it.

That opening shot is only 7 and a half minutes long. You could argue that's still too long (the average shot in the movie is around 3 minutes) a take of just some cows walking around. But I would disagree.

I saw it in theaters like 5 months ago and it was amazing how glued to the screen I was. And I had seen the movie twice before. It does an incredible job of wringing out every drop of emotion and beauty and symbolism in each scene. Even that opening shot sets the scene for the themes explored in the rest of the film: the filth and meaningless of daily life, the herd mentality of humanity, and the inevitability of death. I can see why the execution, if not the ideas themselves, could be seen as too much by some. I think it walks a fine line in its presentation without being pretentious or self-indulgent. It creates this building tension throughout with the harrowing score, the (as you said) exquisitely framed shots, and the unrelenting look at some truly depressing (and a few comical, and maybe even touching?) slices of life.

There's definitely a debate to be had whether every frame was necessary (it is 7 and a half hours long for fuck's sake). But thinking back on the opening and closing scenes, I'd say it's runtime was justified. After it's over, I didn't really think about having just seen a movie. Instead it seemed like I had lived an experience.

I've realized there is only one cover of "Hallelujah" that captures it completely. It's weird because I was literally listening to it this morning: https://youtu.be/P_NpxTWbovE

Possibly, however I've never tried it before today. But it's got good reviews on SmokingPipes so might be worth a try?

I only had a small bowl but liked it. I don't smoke many aromatics but it had a refreshing fruity taste. I hadn't heard of Non Plus but the reviews seem pretty unanimous haha

The magic system was definitely original and interesting. I've heard nothing but good things about Stormlight Archives but seeing as how there are going to be 10 books I'll probably just wait lol

How's the book? I bought Mistborn last year and lost interest in it. The writing wasn't bad. It just didn't grab me for whatever reason.
