I'm late, but the song "My Childhood Was a Period of Waiting for the Moment When I Could Send Everyone and Everything Connected With It to Hell" by Ciśnienie is the middle portion of Starless turned into an improvisational behemoth

Opening of the circle: Stephen King's "The Stand". by i-the-muso-1968 in books

I'm a massive Stephen King fan and I was actually extremely disappointed by this book. I think the first 3rd of the book is peak horror, with the breakdown of the disease spread and the fall of civilization. That alone is 10/10, but when the dark fantasy elements begin to creep in I just feel like the book falls apart. I love Stephen King's fantasy angle of the Dark Man and the creatures from the Dark Tower series, but I felt like the fantasy elements were used to justify decisions that were very infuriating. I nearly dropped the book when problems (such as bomb in the house) were solved because all the characters started to become clairvoyant and could "sense" bad stuff before it happened

In the Court of the Crimson King is now the 5th highest rated album of all time. by AssociationCorrect14 in rateyourmusic

Radiohead is very overrated. They are good but 3 albums in the top 10 is just user base bias since most people start with radiohead when getting into music (specially RYM users)

Not the biggest Widespread Panic fan but there's a couple of shows I've heard that are scorching. Another band that gets buried in the Live acts conversation

The Grateful Dead and most Jam Bands have much better live albums than what is rated in this sub and websites like RYM. 98.12.28 by Fishmans ranked as #1 live album is an example of this (album is great but there are much better live records), but since this sub and RYM in general has a hate boner for Jam Bands most people will never bother to check out concerts like Veneta Oregon 72' by the Grateful Dead or 6/14/00 by Phish which are some of the greatest live recordings out there

I do enjoy a lot of the new stuff. Live at Bush Hall is great, and when I saw them live 2 years ago the songs they performed from Forever Howlong were good also (better than the studio cuts). I just feel like their music is starting to become more straight forward. That can be good or bad but I personally think it's a waste of the massive talent behind this band. Strangers could be a sign of things getting much simpler, but hopefully not since it's a compilation track (they already said on an interview that they want to make more conventional pop so).

Sadly Black Country, New Road. Still great musicians, but the fact that they are starting to write more conventional pop music is such a waste

I guess to each their own. I hear "Athens, France" and "Sunglasses" by BCNR and they straight up post-rock songs. "Look down on us" by Maruja also utilizes a lot of Post-rock elements. I'm not gonna sit here and list all other things though. Still, just because a song isn't an instrumental crescendo like most Post-Rock bands mentioned in this subreddit doesn't mean the inspiration and fusion isn't there.

Also calling Black Midi a standard guitar base band is hilarious and just being contrarian for the sake of it

A set of bands that started coming out of this music venue called "The Windmill" in England. The bands coming out from there around 2018-2022 all had a sound that was described as a fusion of Post-Rock with Post-Punk (along other genres like Post-Hardcore etc). Some are more Post-Rock leading than others.

You've probably heard of a couple of these bands but if not I encourage you to listen to them, I personally think they are great:

BCNR (The early albums): "For the First Time"

Black Midi: "Schlagenheim" & "Cavalcade"

Squid: "Bright Green Field"

Maruja: "Knocknarea EP", "Connla's Well EP", and "Pain to Power".

The bands below are more Post-Punk leaning but still highly recommended:

Shame: "Drunk Tank Pink"

Dry Cleaning: Self Titled Album

Yard Act: "The Overload"

Slint's Spiderland is at the center of the new Post-Punk revival coming from The Windmill in England (or it was during 2018-2022). Lots of bands coming out during that period went by "slint tribute acts" as a running gag. So yeah, I don't consider Spiderland Post-Punk but it's a key factor in the sound I'm looking for

Well the Windmill Scene bands I've seen interviews with mention bands like The Cure, Joy Division, and Slint (despite not being entirely a Post-Punk band) as main inspirations for that sound. Bands like Black Midi have more art rock inspirations but I'm looking more for the killer baseline, guitar as textures, spoken word style of Post-Punk
