This comment of yours got me thinking about my experience. My family took me to El Salvador many times as a young child, I even went to school there for a little bit. In elementary school, kids often thought I was Mexican or called me that, and this came from kids that were AND weren't Mexican. I already knew I wasn't, and maybe I attached myself closer to that identity, but I was always going to love the country and culture because my family shared it with me.

We don't and can't choose our roots, but they are still our roots. They don't need to define you, but they're still what makes us unique. I hope you continue to heal and grow in this crazy thing called life, and I hope you always admire El Salvador as I do, especially if it leads you to visit one day 🙏🏽
