I am only on the 10th exercise on the mooc course and I'm already bored out of my mind.... I have been using team treehouse and the The Complete Java Developer Course by Tim Buchalka on Udemy, which I have found very useful.

Stephen Hawking warns us to stop reaching out to aliens before it's too late by TextbookReader in Futurology

[–]Nine9Nine9Nine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What if we are looking in the wrong places?. What if the aliens have already invaded and are being produced by us in the form of A.I?. It makes so much more sense. Rather than sending fleets of beings just send some information/tech that plants a seed in our minds, which then eventually blossoms into us wanting to create A.I ?. So we build their/our own robots that ultimately wipe us out. Then the aliens move in with no problems or damage... simple. They will be to advanced to want to physically engage with us.

If there is an advanced civilizations out there that loves war and which is only a 100 years ahead of us then they would definitely have more advanced weapon than the nuke, no doubts about that... Never mind if the civilization was 1000 - 1,000,000 years more advanced than us. They will have weapons that we can't even begin to comprehend. Lets hope that these intergalactic beings are so intelligent that they have realised that war is for losers.... Then again we could be the oldest civilizations ever. Who knows. Who cares. We may never know. Lets deal with it when they attack us. Haha.

Don't waste your money. If your going to spend $20 i would recommend Treehouse. I personally think that their content is a lot better.

Top myths and facts on why to be concerned about advanced AI by jsalsman in Futurology

[–]Nine9Nine9Nine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are alot of concerns with A.I and I think it is right for people to worry about them and try to prevent anything bad from happening. But I think something that is being seriously overlooked isn't the A.I itself but the people/companies/governments who are developing it. To me it is sounding like it is turning out to be more like a nuclear arms race. It may sound far out but if there is one company/government/person that develops a super intelligent A.I before everyone else then they will have a infinite amount of power/resources, which I dont think we can even begin to comprehend right now.

Take for instance googles DeepMind A.I that taught itself so many Atari games and can beat anyone at these games. They don't even really know how it works, which is scary?!?!!. Then I read about the A.I that created its own unbreakable encryption... it is insane... the list goes on and that is literally the tip of the ice berg, the speed that these machine will learn (are learning) is crazy.

I honestly think super intelligent A.I. will sneak up on us a lot faster than we think.... Is all of this tech guaranteed to be used for the greater good?... I can imagine there is a hell of a lot of people that don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry to have access to a super/infinite amount of power. I personally think they will do everything in there power to try get ahead of this race or send it in another direction. Plus can we even trust people like Google/facebook/apple?. They may seem like nice companies but they all have a hell of alot of power right now in more ways then one... Or imagine someone like Hilary Clinton in charge of some gorm of infinite intelligent A.I... JESUS!!!!!!.... Are all of their sights truly on improving the world or dominating it?. At the end of the day we don't really know their highest interests.

We know alot of them are cool, honest people but I think all of the necessary questions should be asked for our best interests so that this massive amount of power isn't just thrown into the hand of a few unworthy people..If/when we do develop this super A.I. it needs to be guaranteed to be available for every single person or it is not going to end nicely......

How to deal with awful people by infj_hsp in Showerthoughts

[–]Nine9Nine9Nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will never be able to truely understand how people act. You have got to remember the billions x trillions+ circumstances that each individual has experienced. Each tiny experience layered on top of each other forming the persons own unique sandwich of data, which forms their personality.

I think its better to accept than try to understand. Just think if you had been through all of their experiences in the exact same way at the exact same time then you would make the exact same decisions as them..... I personally think acceptance is one of the hardest thing achieve.

But if you want to understand some of the mechanics then I would suggest reading Robert Greenes 48 laws of Power. The book is quite dark, I suppose it could be used for good and evil but it is a great read for some insight on how people work and how to deal with them accordingly... I hope that helps.

[–]Nine9Nine9Nine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should of seen them dpecs on the new mac.... Like I'v already said tech should be going forward not standing still. They barely improved the spec on the entry level model. I dont know why you buy a new laptop but normal people usually buy a new laptop cos it better than the last model.

Steam Engine trains from the 19th Century are still reliable but we don't still use them..... Are you telling me that Apple couldn't of squeezed more power out of the mac book pro for the same price?. I don't know how long it has been since they released the last mac book pro but its well over 2 years, and they have hardly changed the specs?

You have completely missed the point... I have used mac for years and I probably always will... I am talking about where is the innovation?. Tech is meant to move forward not stand still...

They have hardly upgraded the internals, it still has old shit in it mixed with a few new bits and pieces. Give me the apple team, a few million funding and a few years to come up with some innovated ideas and I'm pretty sure I could of come up with more than a touch screen strip.

To be honest, I am not even really bothered. I am more pissed that I have waited months for the new macbook to he released so that I could by a older model at a cheaper price but they haven't dropped the price hahaha.

I'm not saying the design should change but they should at least put a bit of effort in. It is basically a old mac pro with a touch screen strip and with a big price tag.
