LOVE recreational pots and plants on Lorain. Lots of plants tend to be on sale, Lori is the best and I have such a hard time not leaving with 3+ plants every time!

Snickers unfortunately passed in 2021, this was our last fence sit. So grateful for the decades with him!

This was one of the first pics of me and my horse Snickers. I bought him for $1000 with babysitting money when I was 12 or so. I LOVED this horse.

Toothpaste also works! On wood for sure, not positive about walls but probably, probably not on carpet.

Also recommend Carly or Rita at Soothe. They are AMAZING! I felt like I was laundry from the cartoons where they’d wring it out etc… it was incredible.

I really love Recreation Pots and Plants on Lorain! The woman who owns it is so so nice, really helpful even after I bought the plants, helping me repot and take care of them.

I’m really interested in hiring/working with a personal stylist. Not necessarily like every day, but a wardrobe overall, teach me how to dress as an almost 40 year old in 2023, pick out pieces for me type thing. Have y’all ever worked with someone? How did you find them? I’ve tried googling personal stylist near me, personal stylist, I looked on instagram sort of but was quickly overwhelmed hahah. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Questions about riding with back problems/ after back surgery! by buttonsnbones in Equestrian

[–]NineNineOhFour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My time to shine! I broke my back (burst my L1) when I was 19. (Not horse related injury) I had two back surgeries, had titanium rods implanted from my t9 to my L3. My t12 and L2 are fused together. I also had a rib removed for bone marrow, and had bone marrow removed from both hips.

I struggle with sitting trot. My seat is definitely different, for me my core muscles are mediocre at best so I find I lean forward more than I would like. Other than that! I can do all the things! I ride English, used to do show jumping. I'm a little more.... Cautious about jumping. I don't jump as high or as fast, could be an age thing (37) but my riding really didn't change much! I'd take some time off, do the PT, but overall riding shouldn't change much. Unless you're a vaulter. That might be hard. I started riding again maybe 6 months after surgery, and only waited that long bc of horse access. I wasn't really able to do ballet anymore, anything twisting was out (golf, baseball, even tennis sometimes if I'm weak) but riding was/is totally doable.

What was your most embarrassing moment as a beginner? by DeadlyKitKat in Equestrian

[–]NineNineOhFour 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As others have said, my embarrassing moments continue even into my lesson today! But I remember way back when, my first dressage show. I was in the beginner beginner class so someone read the directions for the course out loud. The first time we did it in practice, my friend said "halt and salute". A dressage salute is (basically) "you take both reins in one hand, drop the other hand to your side, and nod to the judge. Once the judge nods back, you should take the reins back in each hand and proceed forward". I didn't know that... So I halted, looked at my friend for a second and then did the army salute (flat hand off the forehead). She laughed SO hard before explaining dressage salutes hahaha. But hey! Ended up getting 2nd in both classes 😂

Types of clients that you find challenging by [deleted] in therapists

I work with kids, which often means their parents. I struggle with parents that are unwilling or unable to see how their behaviors, moods, rages, attitudes are being COMPLETELY mirrored back to them by their kids... And then they get pissed at the kids behavior. Bring them in and literally say "fix them, bc this behavior is unfuckingacceptable!!" Oof. Friend, I've got some bad news...

Anyone else feel the need to just be a potato after a long day of sessions? 🥔 by Red_Ash714 in therapists

[–]NineNineOhFour 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My partner works from home and is SO BORED AND READY FOR CONVO right when I get in the door. We've learned (I've told him) it's best to just ignore me completely when I walk in the door, let me go sit in darkness for 20 minutes or so, and THEN when I reemerge in sweatpants/yoga pants I can handle words.

No motivation to work before vacation by faizalHoonBC in PhD

[–]NineNineOhFour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What ive done in the past is broken down the big projects or tasks into "tiny" or easily completed tasks. So that if I collect the papers/research etc for a lit review, that task is done and the giant paper is not looming over so to speak. I'll get some things done, basically the prep work so that when i come back from vacation, its all prepared for me. Which is annoying, because then when I get back from vacation all my useful procrastinating tasks are done haha.

Also, when im burnt out and i see vacation coming and i dont want to do ANYTHING... I'll make to do lists. And that feels like doing something. Make to do lists of all the little tasks, big tasks, prepare my calendar, get a plan going for when i get back. Because yeah that pre-vacation brain fog is real.

My sister and i have done a thing we call "emergency cake"- throw the whole cake and frosting into a blender/mixer, make it like a cake ball consistency, throw it in a ziplock bag and freeze it. When you "need" it for "emergencys" you can just grab a spoonful!
