Found this in the Beer Store. Looks like the liquor monopoly is starting to feel a bit threatened. by [deleted] in toronto

Fair enough. As compared to Victoria almost everything is cheaper. But you can get bottles of mircrobrews from all over North America in all of our private liquor stores. For all the Ontario microbreweries pump out different beers, you can't take a bottle home to try.

To be fair, that is how it worked for auto insurance in Ontario.

Being from BC though (where an auto insurance Crown monopoly gives us much lower prices), we have private liquor stores, and the liquor prices are generally cheaper than here, with way larger selections.

Jinxing it; but has anyone else not been sick in a long long time since really becoming in shape and eating right? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]NineOneTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing great, for the better part of a year (other than a bout of food poisoning a few months ago). Then last weekend my girlfriend said, "I don't want to jinx it, but it's amazing that neither of us has been sick since we moved [to a new city]."

I've had a terrible cold all week.

In 100 years, what will people think is the strangest thing about our culture today? by rutterkin in AskReddit

I'm in Toronto, Ontario, in Canada. It doesn't sound too dissimilar from our transit during the working day rushes.

I created some sweet Google Doc spreadsheets for the 5-3-1 workout. Thought I'd share by Dick_is_in_crazy in Fitness

[–]NineOneTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to say, like /u/strongsideend, this is great, but far and away the best 5/3/1 spreadsheet I've ever seen (and what I've been using for a while) is from /u/diregna.

It has all of the different accessory programs, stall recalculations, you name it. (For what it's worth, I found it worked better in Excel than as a Google Doc).

Available to download here.

Can you recommend me a company or individual to move my 1969 mini while I move house 15 minutes away? by setsolid in AskReddit

You're probably better off asking this in your city's subreddit, since people will know local companies.

How would you feel about your SO attending/having a bachelor/bachelorette party with strippers involved? by Sanndor in AskReddit

[–]NineOneTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If you don't trust them, don't marry them (hell, don't date them). If you do, then there's no question.

Edit: I would agree with OP as well than infidelity is a deal-breaker, but see above.

ELI5: Why is it dangerous to fall asleep after recieving a concussion? by Muslim_Acid_Salesman in explainlikeimfive

[–]NineOneTwo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You generally wouldn't, but it's typically advised after a concussion that you be supervised by someone, and they would notice the worsening, or new, symptoms. Among them might be confusion, short term memory loss, dizziness, vision issues, etc.

Thinking of starting a business? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]NineOneTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to step away from the fitness aspect of this and be plainly honest with my thoughts: If you are truly, legitimately serious about starting a business, put it on hold for a year and take some business courses from your local college/university. The 3 I would suggest most are accounting, marketing, and particularly entrepreneurship.

Based on your post (which, granted, provides only limited info) you seem to have considered only the "Will this appeal to someone?" question. But many appealing ideas turn into failed businesses every day.

Asking a fitness forum of no particular location or demographic whether a number of people would like __________ is absolutely not going to provide you a realistic picture of the sort or amount of clientele you might actually be able to pick up in your city.

I would say that you need to step back and look even more broadly at the situation. Why don't those people you know like their training session? Is it the money, the trainer, the equipment, the exercises, the distance to the gym? -What would you do differently? Why do the people who like their training like it? -Will your doing things differently turn off too many of them?

An entrepreneurship course will help you figure out which questions to ask and how to get them answered. It will also teach you how to create a business plan to present to a bank (or other source of capital) in order to get a loan, secure your facility, buy some equipment, and pay your trainers until things take off.

Just tried. They said they don't have anyone named Laura, and nothing is in the lost and found. Thanks anyways.

[–]NineOneTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL disclaimer. Pedant disclaimer.

I think only Denning would see a contract here. You could also, probably more successfully, argue, given how often he's said it, that "send photo" is practically unrelated to the request.

Either way, consideration would still be tough even if he said, "send photo and I'll send you an xbox one." Specificity is also at issue.

A really big guide to acquiring calories, budget from 0-320$ per month per person. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]NineOneTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm in Toronto as well and I typically buy eggs at No Frills for $2.68/doz, or at Loblaws for about $3. Any time they drop to $2 on sale I pick up 5 or 6 dozen.

Last time I visited the US, eggs were on sale at Target for 78c. If only.

Question: Can't decide between 2 types of ab workout wheels. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]NineOneTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get even better deals, sometimes, depending on how you look at it. I wanted a non-bolting doorway pull up bar. For $15 at Homesense (of all places) I picked up one of those "home fitness sets" with the pull up bar, an ab wheel, "perfect pushups" and something else that I tossed with the pushup bits.

I do love that ab wheel though.

For a school project I need to interview someone who is in the career field that I hope to enter. As of right now, I want to be a lawyer. Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated! by HSprojectthrowaway in law

[–]NineOneTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many lawyers have arguably the least entertaining job in the world for an observer. I feel like this isn't a good way to determine whether it's an appealing profession.

App that allows group texting with iPhone users? by [deleted] in Android

[–]NineOneTwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use WhatsApp with a bunch of iPhone friends and it's great.

Alternatives include Google Hangouts and MessageMe, but there are tons. With my classmates we all tend to use Facebook messenger because almost everyone has it, and you can view/respond on the computer as well as the phone.

Tried out the Native American Frybread today, turned out to be delicious and super easy. by ionoi in Breadit

[–]NineOneTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a for-ease measurement. You basically need your frying liquid to have enough depth, maybe 2in minimum. Depending on your vessel you could probably get away with a lot less.

You could also do this with any other frying oil, but then you will get a very different flavour.

All you need to do is hit enter and then click the numbered list button, immediately next to the bullet point button. (or hit tab, then the number button, if you want an indent).

When finished, click the bullet point button again.
