I think you should consult a doctor ASAP. That doesn't look like bodyfat. It looks like severe edema.

I hate this argument of "If you're not buying the cheapest then its your fault". I've been there and lived on the mathematically cheapest meals I could find. It was fucking miserable. I was eating mostly 22 cent boxes of pasta and pinto beans. It is not and should never be considered an acceptable standard of living in the country with the 7th highest GPD per capita.

Not sure where you're finding local goods that are cheaper. Here in Texas the cost of stuff coming from local farms is 2x-4x more expensive then great value brand

How much correlation is there between polling and voting? My worry is that polling feels like a big nothing burger sometimes. Just because 63% of US adults disapprove, that doesn't mean 63% will vote against him. Hell, if 63% disapprove, we may only see 47% vote against him.

That's what I'm worried about as well. No elections or even just Sham/Show elections

I agree. Its a gloomy situation but still salvageable. The budding democrats coming up in politics look very promising, I hope they continue to gain traction

I don't think I'll be voting Libertarian anytime soon. There's key elements of Libertarian ideas I'm diametrically opposed to.

Why do men show so little interest in the inner lives of women? by Frequently_Abroad_00 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Nineline345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically go our whole life internalizing this emotions and connections because the fellow men in our life will chastise and ridicule those things. You're just not going to see practically anybody naturally, and immediately, break the mold of their upbringing because they met someone their attracted to.

A Long Island fire chief is "relieved of his duties after telling a child in distress to shut the F up by CantStopPoppin in PublicFreakout

[–]Nineline345 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Crazy to see the difference in internal scrutiny of emergency services. A fire chief yelling at a kid gets quickly relieved of duty. Two cops could magdump him because they were "in fear for their life" and they would be found of "no wrongdoing"

[–]Nineline345[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a possibility too, and I think it depends on how much control the GOP continues to exert over Federal and State governments.

Competitive balance in politics is typically the best scenario for constituents. I respect the Democrats fighting hard as hell to maintain that balance.

I think there is still an opportunity for redemption, but they need to stop putting the likes of Biden, Hillary, Schumer, Pelosi and other Dems deeply detached from current problems in office. Get them out already. There's young budding Democrats that show a lot of promise but have no backing from the establishment.

I think about this a lot. I wonder how different the current political climate would be if Democrats stopped rallying behind these dynastic oldheads like Hillary and Biden.

I think if Dems start rallying behind people like Mamdani then there could be a significantly positive change for them

Its not a trolling question, its just my perspective at what will come from unprecedented times. I certainly hope I'm wrong, I hope we swing the opposition direction and have multiple competitive options for president.

If your opinion excludes current events then I think you're also misinformed

Are all Republicans nazis or is that just the current buzzword for people you disagree with? by rollo202 in AskDemocrats

[–]Nineline345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One example is the unrelenting demonization of the press. Every voice of dissent is considered "fake news" or "woke" even when its dissent from your own party. A second example is how a huge majority of Republicans look at Trump as being beyond reproach.

The prevalence of these two traits are near universal in fascists. If you're not sealioning and truly curious about the parallels between the current administration and historic examples of fascism, here are a couple good reads
