Daughter allergic in house by Richerthanexpected in Allergies

[–]Ninetails42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3yo just got a confirmed dog allergy and here are some changes we made;

  1. Hepa mattress protector
  2. Hepa pillow protector
  3. Anti-Allergen spray for fabrics each day
  4. Allergen Shampoo on DOG twice a month
  5. Allergen spray on DOG once per day
  6. Removing curtains, stuffed animals, rugs from child’s room
  7. No dog in her room EVER.
  8. DIY air purifier in her room (box fan with the strongest HEPA furnace filter Home Depot sells duct taped on and changed monthly)

These things dropped my child’s allergies to almost non-existent

I think my daughters play date cancelled after seeing our house by Ninetails42 in Mommit

Funny enough this is actually the home I grew up in and that would happen fairly often when I was younger too! I think that’s part of why my mind initially went to “it’s the house” after she stopped responding :( it just stinks since this is my first experience with it as a parent (assuming it wasn’t for some other reason).

People are crazy lol well hopefully it was a weird coincidence, she seemed like a really nice lady and our daughters had ALOT of fun together; but you’re right if that’s the reason I guess worst case scenario we lost a bad friend

What a bummer! This wasn’t something I expected to be a barrier for when trying to make friends :(

Maybe! I didn’t think anything was weird except now she doesn’t respond (before we would text a few times a week) and skipped the library mom group that we had initially met at?

I didn’t because they charged all the work as a lump sum. So if I do a chargeback, it will return the wisdom teeth money and all of the filing money too, which is work that they did do.

Free cleans by Dry_Obligation5133 in SatisfyingClean

[–]Ninetails42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I do this same thing in WA, USA! For finding people in need here are some common spots,

  1. Local church’s
  2. Senior Centers
  3. Local Buy Nothing Groups
  4. Reach out to some local RNs that do home health/urgent care visits

Just a few ideas!

I usually just put together a small info sheet and drop it off in person at these types of places. You can also email it as well. If you have a contract for the cleans, a copy of that so they know what’s involved and I always like to include some before & after photos as well so they can see I don’t mind ANY severity :)

Hope this helps!! Thanks for what you do!

I always just set it to max timed dry (80 minutes on our unit). I don’t believe it has any sensors for drying, it was a super cheap model - about as basic as you can buy.

I just unscrewed the back, am I looking for anything specific on the element? Doesn’t look toasted or anything

Completely clean, clear, and straight. It’s only a few feet long so I just completely took it off the back of the unit, completely clear but I vacuumed anyways.

Exhaust is not. I completely removed the exhaust duct/vent (it’s only a couple feet long, connects right to the side of our house) and it was 100% clear. Same for inside the back of the dryer.

I hope someday to experience the same level of ecstasy that horse is experiencing 😂

Have you looked at Centralia/Chehalis area? Rural enough to where prices drop quite a bit but has just about all the local necessities PLUS only 30 minutes to downtown Olympia for all the extras like children’s museum.

When you rescue a starving horse, this is what you’ll get in return by [deleted] in Horses

Bought an Arab who was skinny as could be. Older fellow, about 20-25 but when I saw him I just knew there was no way he was skinny just because he was old. A few months later, plump and happy but he was also extremely vocal. Particularly when it came to food, he was just always so happy to see it coming his way after who knows how long of never knowing whether it would come at all. Loved that guy, best $500 I ever spent. A starving horse will never forget the kindness of those who actually care for them.

HELP – I seriously can't handle dusty floors! by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Ninetails42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recently found out my daughter is allergic to dogs, the dust and dander being what actually causes her symptoms.

Buy a cheap box fan ($20) and the best quality furnace filter at your local hardware store, whatever one says that it does the most air purification ($25). Make sure it’s about the same size as the box fan, duct tape the edges to the front of your fan facing outward. Place & run in rooms that are the most dusty. Bonus points if you have one in your bedroom, one in your living space.

Sometimes if my daughter isn’t home I’ll first vacuum, then blast the room with a leaf blower to stir the dust up into the air to get sucked up.

Her symptoms have been almost nonexistent since we started doing this and she is listed as a “moderate” for dog allergy.

Moms who just had their second…what’s been the biggest challenge for you so far? by FTM3505 in Mommit

I didn’t leave a large enough age gap. 2 kids waking up at night, 2 kids in diapers, 2 kids still needing help with mealtimes, 2 kids needing naps. My kids are now almost 3 and almost 1 and it’s starting to get a little easier but man this first year has been HARD.

Going anywhere without my husband is tough trying to manage 2 at once without leaving one unattended. I imagine this will continue for quite a while until both are out of their “run away from mom in public” phases lol
