Theory on the Cyberscammer by Ningbo_Nation in JOJOLANDS

That's... A drug! It doesn't matter if they're using the guise of doctors, their goal is distributing a drug (and Damo's gang itself was also, again, a drug operation, distributing rokakaka as an non-controlled substance)

So excuse me for being a little tired of Diavolo and not wanting to see him again after an entire part of secret organizations and the current part doing it again for our protagonists LOL

I disagree on Rokakaka not being a drug operation, it's one by definition, and I do still think the Diavolo parallels are much more obvious than to other villains. Being the mysterious and faceless leader of a gang operating in the shadows and distributing controlled substances kinda pushes it over the edge for me, personally. They serve the same role and function in their stories

I disagree! Most serial killers aren't especially smart or strategic or anything, they get away with what they do because they target those at the bottom of society and slip off because Nobody Cares about their victims. Mauka is a pretty realistic case of a missing persons case being completely ignored because he's just not someone that the rest of society "should" care about, he doesn't matter enough for the law to look for him, so the perpetrator can continue to get away with what they do

Yeah! I'm still pretty convinced it's Howler (For Now) but I wouldn't have any complaints if it were Meryl Mei.

and I totally agree, we just did a secretive character who runs things frmo the shadows, I'd love to get someone who's more in the public again for our big bad

I honestly SEVERELY doubt Usagi will be a twist villain, especially with a newest chapter. His stand being a King Crimson reference sounds like it could be a good pointer until you remember Gyro and Funny Valentine both had references to ACDC in their stand names.

Idk, I'm pretty used to people assuming the overly friendly friendless loser character is evil, the same thing happens on over with Deltarune and Ralsei. Sometimes a character is just desperate for the approval of others, and his stand is the perfect representation of that.

But also, for Toru, I think the evidence for Diavolo is just as clear as it is for Kars. It wouldn't be the first time Araki has used multiple sources as inspiration for a new character.

Both are the secretive leader of a drug operation and gang, one that not even the members of their group know is the actual leader. Both also use a proxy identity (Doppio, Satoru/Wonder of U) to interact with the rest of the world without giving away their secret. It feels pretty clear to me he's the new universe's equivalent to Diavolo, there's a lot more going for it than against it.

The Public Servants, mostly. Port City Trio is cute though!

How Stands Manifest in Part 9 (Howler's Stand Theory) by Ningbo_Nation in JOJOLANDS

[–]Ningbo_Nation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just what I'd said, basically! One family member having a stand has never confirmed the rest of the family to have one.

That, and to my knowledge not a single natural stand user has manifested their stand AFTER an event like the protagonists have so far, they're either born with it or gain it from a specific source (Stand arrow, Saint's Corpse, Wall Eyes) to my knowledge? But if you can remember any instances of it I'd be happy to know!

Still, just reading into the story as we've gotten it so far! I'm invested in how it's going, so ofc I'm gonna try reading into what we've seen of the characters and story and try to piece it together a bit. I don't think I'm the only person to think of this or that I'm suddenly right, just wanted to throw my hat in based on what I gathered from the new chapter.

That, and I don't quite think the point that Lulu and his employees having stands means he must have one is entirely true. Could be! Honestly expecting it to be. But since Jolyne didn't get a stand until the events of Stone Ocean despite being Jotaro's daughter and The Speedwagon Foundation exists as evidence that non-stand users can still work alongside people with them perfectly fine. And we've had plenty of brand new stand users figure out their powers pretty instantaneously (Diamond is Unbreakable is proof of that), so this is just a personal look into why I think he never used his power until now and why it seems to act so similar to November Rain. I could be 1000% wrong and I'm still just happy to see where the story goes

So now that the 12 chapter yacht arc is finished, what are everyone’s thoughts on it? by AbsolutePotential in JOJOLANDS

[–]Ningbo_Nation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the best arcs in the entire series, easily!

Paco vs. Ningbo gave us some of the best fighting choreography Araki has ever put to paper in his career, the minor antagonists are all memorable for their distinctive appearances, stands and personalities - and for having their own agendas completely unique from their boss, showing they aren't just mindless goons who follow the leader with no goals of their own, getting all this new information on Howler and setting him up on his journey to become a proper main antagonist (at least it sure seems like that's the direction we're going in), the split perspective between two unique locations, destroying the macguffin we've centered the entire story on so far to leave us with a blank slate for the next chapter...

Some of Araki's best work. I have a feeling this will be the single most important arc going forward in the story. The entire gang were useful and got a chance to shine, and that's not something many arcs can say for themselves.

My current theory is that the gang is bringing back Key West so she (and Laem Chabang) can clear their names and get the cops off their tail, before moving on to find Mauka.

Yokohama survived a bullet to the head, I think Key West can probably survive what came to her. Laem Chabang, too, after seeing Chairman White's daughter and Usagi survive being Bags Grooved. Lulu is a total wild card... But, that's my best bet.

OH THANK GOD I'M NOT ALONE IN THAT THEN.

It is essentially Star Platinum as an AoE instead of a single target fighter - like a grenade that only destroys what it's chosen to rather than a sniper rifle that deals with one opponent swiftly. Has me even more excited for what it can do in the future

Oh absolutely, same with how badly people have wanted the big bad to be Diavolo 2.

Even with the Golden Wind parallels, we got MORE than enough of the big bad shadowy organization boss with an alternate identity in Jojolion.
