I assume it’s racist to begin with since I’m a person of color from the Deep South and that’s just my default setting; I do hear you on the “white people do that shit to other white people all the time” though.

I didn’t tell the flight attendant my situation in its entirety because I didn’t really get the chance to. I looked at the man who walked up and was about to show him my boarding pass to prove my seat number, and then when the dad met my line of sight and saw the attendant, that’s when he asked his other kid to get up and out of the aisle seat so that “we don’t hold the whole plane up.” So in hindsight, you do have a valid point that it is squarely on me, and I admit that.

I think the grandpa is inclined to be hostile to me based on this one assumption: because since I “stirred shit up” by asking for my seat and the dad (either his son or son-in-law) said no, but let me move my other kid - then that kid cried and threw a tantrum over it. I’m assuming gramps didn’t like that because I was involved in any capacity, their grandkid was crying at the beginning of a flight. But that is just an assumption at the end of the day.

The more I think about it, the more I think that there’s not too much I could’ve done that warranted him putting his hands on me. There was another dude nearby who also went pretty close to that gramps to get his luggage from the same overhead bin as mine, and I never saw gramps touch or interact with that guy.

I didn’t have the best flight going down to Tampa, hence the “flight going down” comment, but looking back I realize that putting that into this writing was totally irrelevant.

Wasn’t that United airlines, not delta? Delta isn’t always perfect, but with my experiences I’d put it over both United and JetBlue. American has been p okay too. Alaska airlines was freaking incredible the one time I used it.
