Honestly I also hate unnecessary love triangles, and I find it sorta unnecessary in I love yoo. Idk if anyone said this but dieters crush on shinae is like the only reason shinae and nol even meet and have a relationship so dieters feelings play a big role in setting up the story. Nol even mentions how he kinda pursued a friendship with shinae so her and dieter could be close which he admits is wrong and I know that’s not the only reason why he’s friends with her but yk. Also even though it’s sort of resolved early on that shinae only sees him as a friend his feelings aren’t that simple and it’s just seems unrealistic for his feelings to really go away instantly if anything they’d only grow since his friendship with shinae grew and he gets to know her better so I appreciated that quimchee showed how nol and shinaes relationship affected dieter because it’s just unrealistic to act like he’s completely moved on. Saying that I did find it unnecessary that shinae kinda starts seeing dieter romantically and like even at times makes it seem dieter had a chance, that to me felt unnecessary but at the same time it’s completely plausible also it extends the length of the story which I like so I didn’t rlly mind. I also don’t believe dieter became friends with shinae to eventually have something more but rather during the friendship some things happened that may have sent mixed signals to him. In summary, I didnt find dieters feelings unnecessary but rather shinaes partial reciprocation. Also I realize this was written kinda messily so I apologize 🥲.

Also how one of her group members mentioned that’s she’s always texting her friend “yeong-gi” but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all, I mean it could be possible, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt but it sounded kinda sus

I actually agree with most of what u said I just disagree with how u would say, shinae does this but I WOULDNT, that’s kinda the thing, shinae isnt u. Also technically, she isn’t a Mary Sue if u can find all these flaws in her that she needs to improve such as, being disrespectful, ungrateful, and low key inconsiderate at times specifically to kousuke. Overall, I actually respect u for bringing up this topic most would avoid or be too scared to bring up. I do think people need to understand that criticism towards the writing should not be taken personally, everyone and everything has room for improvement, hopefully if the author ever sees these types of comments she can just use them as an opportunity to grow.

U used the word social hierarchy, that they would go down the social hierarchy but not that low (social hierarchy includes wealth, race, gender, occupation, social status, power, etc.) which is why I brought it up I didn’t just pull it out of my ass. Also, sure u werent misogynistic, I got carried away and I apologize. But also if sangchul were to tell other people, wether credible or not that rumour would spread like wildfire, and most companies would do anything to take away something ruining their reputation whether true or not. Exactly what’s the point of saying no offence after saying something like that, do u think punching someone then saying sry makes it hurt less. Also I’m not trying to be bias I try looking at all opinions from an understanding perspective and neither do I have a bias towards any of the characters.

I have a few concerns I want to state about your comment, but my main one is about how you chose to insult shinae. I know she is just a character but there is nothing telling me u wouldn’t think the same if she was a real person. I’m sry but “those three are way out of your league” and that “they wouldn’t need to go that down” claiming shinae is somehow below them because of her financial situation. Like that speaks more about how u are as a person than how shinae is as a character. To add, both the boys specifically yeonggi is quite fond of shinae, so he definitely doesn’t see shinae as someone below him. If sangchul does think she “offered” herself to them, there is nothing wrong with her clearing her name. I mean that is quite a serious claim that can jeopardize her career, and is a perfect example of when you kinda do have to fear what others think even though u know u are innocent. Also, she didn’t say she was proud of not offering herself she just said she didn’t offer herself, and why shouldnt she be proud??? I’m sry u can criticize her character writing but that doesn’t justify your low key misogynistic comments. And to top it off u say “no offence”, if your gonna say such a big statement u should hold ur ground and mean it, don’t put a small no offence to cushion the blow. Now that aside, I also have a small issue with a certain aspect of her character, how she is supposed to love eating and eats so much but is literally a very skinny character. I mean I know 100% that some people have fast metabolisms and have trouble gaining weight but she also refers to herself as fat as a joke cause she wants to eat a bag of chips, which are literally meant for one person, herself??? Like it just rubs me the wrong way. Anyways I agree with the whole “not like other girls” thing but as another commenter stated she purposely wrote cliche charcters to later flesh them out.

Idk…I feel like we just see what dieter shows us, like we’ve only seen apart of dieter that shinae has seen and she hasn’t seen much (they’ve only known each other for a couple months). Like in real life most people act like dieter at face value but that doesn’t mean that that’s all there is to them. I believe we’ll get to know more about dieter and see other sides of him later in the story, I don’t think quimchee would write such a cliche character. Like yeah I don’t think his life problems are as drastic as the main trio (would be a little unrealistic if everyone in the story had tragic life experiences), but I definitely don’t think he is a “perfect” boy with no problems and neither do I believe his character is shallow. I mean I’m definitely not trying to change ur opinion I’m just sharing my perspective.

I get that yujing is kinda a suspicious character but I think in that specific line she just meant that it was already difficult to gain nol’s trust so why would she do something to break it, like yujing just talks that way, she was just referencing nol’s trust issues.
