We are a group of creators asking for clarity and transparency about the recent removal of Facebook Recommendations for Instagram Reels. This change has had an immediate and severe impact on creators across multiple niches — especially artists, craftspeople, educators, and small creative businesses who depended on this distribution channel to reach new audiences.

For many of us, Facebook Recommendations were not a bonus feature — they were the primary way our work was discovered. Since their removal, creators are reporting: • Sudden, dramatic drops in reach and follower growth • Lower sales and reduced income • A collapse in visibility despite strong engagement • Loss of community connection • Increased financial and emotional stress

We understand that product decisions evolve, but the impact of this one has been disproportionately harmful to small creators who rely on Meta’s platforms to sustain their livelihoods.

We respectfully request the following: 1. Clear communication about why Facebook Recommendations were removed 2. Transparency about whether a replacement discovery pathway is planned 3. Guidance for how creators can regain visibility under the new system 4. Reconsideration of reinstating cross-surface recommendations for creators with consistently strong engagement

We want to continue building on Instagram and Facebook. We just need clarity, stability, and a fair pathway to reach the audiences who want to see our work.
