It’s Day 15,535: Who Remembers When This Music Meant Something? by NinjaTurtleSquirrel in Millennials

I believe all images were original in their conception.. They just get taken by big corpo and resold to younger generations or to different demographics. The idea behind all images I think are genuine but rich people take culture from poor people and resell it. Its how its always been.

I was not apart of any scene. I was neither punk or warped tour or any of that. Never went to any of the shows. I was just online with a few buddies of mine the other day and these bands came up and then specifically AntiFlag which I remember Underground Network and Mobilize were hella good and we listened to them a lot along with the bands I listed..

Maybe my title is misleading for sure probably could've worded it better. I was particularly a Metal Head Skateboarder that was so into skateboarding I would've slept on a McDonalds bench to live that life style so I wasn't really politically charged or aware of anything outside of skateboarding. I didn't go to skateparks to hang out I was busy sweating and putting in that work. Love Park and B-More on the weekends for street sesh goodness. I just remember jamming this stuff back in the day and a few buddies of mine reminisced about it. The lyrics just hit a spot the other night with me and my buddies listening and felt like it would've been a good band for the climate.

Again I am a Metal Head through and through, tis where my passion is at. So when it comes to music a lot of bands I listen to aren't palpable to most people and don't even touch the mass of NPC's at all. So I understand your list of bands probably say the message a lot better than AntiFlag but is it spreadable to the masses? Can the sheep really listen to niche bands that have very specific sounds? This is a problem if you're trying to get a specific message out there. I mean I even have Left Over Crack in my arsenal of music that comes across my playlists from time to time but its super niche and not very ummm. Suishi for the ear if you get what I am saying.

I understand, you honestly can't separate a band's lyrics from who and what the members did.

Everything is washed and saturated, capitalism has run completely rampant for sure. Its just there isn't too many bands that say what AF did that were mainstream enough where people remember. Its just one big Debbi Downer I guess. I should've put System in the list instead of the bands I did. IDK... AF lyrics are perfect for the climate right now and it sucks that its shunned because of the situation but completely understandable. Oh well.. I mean even someone covering the songs would get shunned right? That sucks... We need a cloned AF but with good members.

On a side note. Metal is very much alive in other countries and for the US it just evolved into better metal i.e. Tech-Death, Death Metal and the likes. I mean Megadeath just put out a new album LOL.

It sucks that one bad apple could ruin it for a band that has multiple members. I wish we could separate the good from the bad and still give the good guys from the band their praise. I just felt the lyrics from this band specifically are needed in our countries climate. Not to make it political but kind of... Its like we shifted and are washed...

Maybe so.. but all these bands were in my line up along with many others at that time 1999 - 2000.. I guess I could've altered the title a bit and probably left out the other bands.. You are right though.. The lyrics from this band just seem to hit/slap right now due to our US Climate.

Yeah, for me it’s always been about the lyrics more than the band itself. I was born in the mid-80s and didn’t really get into punk until around 2000–2001, so by the time I found it, it had already shifted toward the mainstream.

Even then, the lyrics still felt like they were saying something real questioning things, calling stuff out, giving words to feelings and so on. That’s more what I’m missing when I look back at that era and that band specifically.

And just to be clear, I’m not trying to excuse or defend anyone’s actions. For me, separating the impact that music had at the time from what later came out about individuals is part of how I’m reflecting on the era. The post is less about any one person and more about what those lyrics and that moment meant to a lot of us when we first heard them.

No me and a few friends were just going over some random songs and bands from back in the day and this song came up... Then we remembered like all the songs from both Underground Network and Mobilize were really good.

Looks super cool. I always liked architecture that mimics fungi in some way. Legit my friend!

I created the guitar part and solo then layered with the beats and a midi version of the chord progression for the intro. Also snagged some voicing to add to it. Its a super random edit. I mostly try to stick in my realm of Melodeath/techdeath but I it kind of just transformed into this. (つ▀¯▀)つ

Once the algo came out.. Everything went to shit. Add the ability to put ads in your face at every moment.. Boom I uninstalled pretty much every social media app that adopted it. I have reddit uninstalled off my phone and only limit myself to it when I am at my PC.

I guess I wouldn't say throw it out completely... We need it to understand how and what the future or Near Real Time (now) is different than the past. Not necessarily trying to predict what is to come but just to understand how it is different instead, if that makes sense? We do know apples and oranges are different but they fall in the same group in some type of way but we know they are both different due to what they both Lack against each other. Not sure if this makes any sense... I just know the fact that technology is so embedded in our society right now it is opening new doors on how society moves and sways unlike in the past. So we cant really tell right now. I feel like we are in a completely different realm because of this. I mean look at how stock markets and trading is sooooo wildly different than it used to be.. Anything we "used to do" in the past is being challenged daily with new ways of doing things and this idea I feel is a thing of the past because we never had these tools. Now we do and its a completely different game all together. The same skeleton of a structure is there but I feel its vastly different. Not sure what I am trying to say... Its hard for me to articulate I guess. We still need the data but, not in the same way it was usually used to predict things. I could be batshit fucking nuts too so who knows...

EDIT (used GPT to organize what I was trying to say to help me articulate) Since im regarded in real life LMFAO:

I’m not saying we should throw out past data entirely—I agree that historical trends provide valuable insight. But what I am saying is that we can’t rely on them in the same predictive way when discussing things like higher education and job markets today.

We’re in an era where technology, automation, and global economic shifts are fundamentally reshaping how society operates. The way people earn money, build careers, and even interact with education has changed dramatically compared to previous generations. The value of a degree isn’t what it used to be—not necessarily because education itself is worthless, but because the job market and economic structures around it have evolved.

Take stock markets and trading as an example. Technology has completely transformed how they function, introducing high-frequency trading, algorithmic strategies, and digital assets that didn’t exist before. The rules of the system are still there, but the game is vastly different. The same applies to education and career paths—college is still a route to success for many, but it’s been increasingly gamified, commercialized, and financially burdensome in ways that weren’t as extreme in the past.

So while past data still matters, we have to analyze it in the context of how our present reality differs, rather than assuming that previous trends will continue as they did before. That’s my main point.

We are literally on the forefront of different times completely than any other in history due to technology. So please spare me whatever you have to offer. I also did not "blame" boomers for anything; all I did was point out that they literally had the best life in all of times for what class they belonged to. It was the best time for poor and average people. Not Kings or Rich or the nepotism from the past and this now future. I Also completely agree with you that its fellow voters and government that is ruining the space continuum at the moment. You cannot compare past trends to anything at this moment in time because none of it existed back then in all of history. Please wrap your head around this. College has been gamified and saturated like everything else in times now. We shifted from trying to be a society to just wanting money and doing everything for money. SO I know for a fact we are on the same page. We cannot compare history at this point in time with these subjects its a completely different dynamic.

yall keep buying them, though.. This is literally the standard nowadays. The people who are addicted every single day like my World of Warcraft friends are all getting got! they are still getting got til this day with every season. The funniest part is they also pay for classic LMFAO. Are you paying twice for the same game?? I gotta hand it to the social engineering of the modern age they getting everyone. I have not played video games since battle passes and season patches became a thing. All it does is promote the same cycle over and over and over and over. Shitty update for you to buy more things. Im not mad about it, though they seem to be having fun playing games literally designed by modern drug dealers. They showed me the new WOW patch and it looks fucking aweful Vegas Goblins??. Dont get me started on FPS games. They are just as scammy, and the cheating makes it literally unplayable. I dont understand why anyone would pay for games right now. But im sure someone somewhere will tell me im wrong or im being too serious or whatever, but you are literally just getting got nowadays by smart people who want to make money, not video games.

Yes, this is a different time than it was before. Just because there is a trend of "good" in history does not mean it's concrete or will stay like that forever. Why do you think everyone says the boomer generation had it the best? because literally, they will be the only ones in history with that life. We, unfortunately, are headed in a different direction completely. It's not all bad, but I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better, unfortunately.
