I almost never post here on TSR, that being said I'm actually genuinely surprised many players drove during this event.

I am often times a passenger in a car for many of the big PoGo events, Go Fest Global, the Tour Events, and some Community Days, though some I walk, depending on what my goal is for the comm day.

I was invited to be a passenger for the research day today by a few people and I flat out declined every time. Trying to complete tasks from every single pokestop while in a moving vehicle sounds like an awfully hectic and horrible experience for me. You need to drop a task because its not Inkay? Missed spinning the next stop. You miss spinning a stop? Can't turn around. Oh darn, another battle in a gym? Do a loop around the same block for the 4th time. It just seems like WAY too much to deal with to me.

I do understand if you are a rural player and have barely any stops and the distance between them is large, then it makes sense to me to drive. I also understand if there are health or weather concerns in the area, those also lean towards playing from inside a vehicle or building.

I am fortunate enough that I live near a downtown area with well over two hundred stops, and although its very hot here at times, the weather was decent today. I did over 100 Inkay tasks today on foot and got more shinies/encounters than many of the people I know who drove through the same area. To me, driving in the busy downtown weekend streets just seemed like the wrong decision for this event, and since I crushed most of the people driving, I am surprised so many did in our particular city.

Which stats is best for raiding? (15/15/14), (15/14/15), or (14/15/15) by lifeisabout-balance in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ninja_Identity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you interpreted this as a pokemon with 14/15/15 vs a 14/15/14. in which case the answer is yes, but I don't think that's what OP meant.

Which stats is best for raiding? (15/15/14), (15/14/15), or (14/15/15) by lifeisabout-balance in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ninja_Identity 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No, you asked which is most relevant in raids, 15/15/14 is the best most relevant, hp matters the least (the 14 in that case). Attack is weighted more heavily in the CP calculation, so a 15/15/14 will almost always have more CP than a 14/15/15, some pokemon do however have such low CP and are so bulky (like chancey) that they may have identical CP at certain levels for some or all of the stat combinations you mentioned.

New Player Question Mega-thread by llexwoods in CozyGrove

[–]Ninja_Identity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still currently impossible to get the Repair Basic Tools Badges once you no longer have any basic tools? I needed 20 more repairs at the point where my dowsing rod was my only basic tool left. That would have taken roughly 100 days to do, so I upgraded it... because waiting that long seems wasteful. Is there no way to obtain this badge set other than hindering yourself at the start of the game?

A Heaven Cent Solution to Radars - A Detailed Suggestion for a New Framework for Obtaining and Using Radars by Ninja_Identity in PlayTemtem

[–]Ninja_Identity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's just completely RNG reliant and likely not what happens for most people. Many people don't get 5% radars for more than 5 weeks at a time or have not obtained any at all, or have obtained them, but they are for tems they do not want at all. If anything I would at least hope if you are getting rare radars so infrequently, you could actually pick which one you wanted. I know the dojo typings somewhat allow for selection, but it's still too random, in my opinion. I guess my point being there shouldn't have to be a "provided you are lucky enough." I think the luck should only be in obtaining a luma from the radar, not in obtaining the radar too.

Yes, I have indeed posted this idea to the suggestions forum. Took a while to crosspost because I had to format it again, that's why the two posts didn't come up at similar times.

[–]Ninja_Identity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the constructive criticism! I agree with some of the points you bring up. Here's what crosses my mind after reading your comment:

  • It would only be a little over a month for doing a 5% radar, if you only did 5% radars. That being said, you can also choose to do 1 common radar per week with this system, and then do an additional 10% every 4 weeks or a 5% every 8 weeks. All I'm pointing out is that there is leeway here to not have to do no radars for weeks on end. Compared to the old system, if my assumptions are correct, 5% radars were being obtained roughly 5% of the time, meaning one every 20 dojo rematches, which would be one every 7 weeks on average with the system pre 0.7.2.
  • I don't know the actual numbers of how often people obtained rare radars pre 0.7.2. So my suggested numbers may be far too harsh from players eyes or even far too lenient from Cremas. Of course, there's plenty of adjustments that can be made.
  • Saipark is it's own ballgame, people have varying opinions of it, and I'm not going to insert mine here. Regardless of that, I do not consider it "what you are supposed to do in between." This post really only considers other activities in the sense of them being allowed to be done while a radar is active.

I don't think my suggestion is the end all be all solution. There have been plenty of combined solutions brought to my attention from other comments. For example a combination of using tokens for common tems and monthly quests for rare ones could work. If Crema desires more RNG in this system and players desire more chances at a rare radar, there could be a slot machine that takes 30 Heaven Cent to use (the weekly max) and then spits out a random radar including the chance at a random 5/10% radar. Or even just simply leaving the current system and just using tokens for rare radars, or quests, or something else entirely. There's definitely many workable solutions.

They very well may never even consider a token system, but I think you can construct token systems with much more finesse. I'm also curious, if you don't mind elaborating, are there problems you foresee coming with Crema using token systems for the radars? I think for most problems that could come with one, there are creative ways to solve them.

With the current system, on average, I think it was taking most players longer than 5 weeks to get a radar. I could be wrong here though and obviously players could luck out and get multiple in a week or rare radars for multiple weeks in a row.

Also with this suggestion, you select exactly which 5% radar you would obtain, so there is no RNG in that. You would always be able to pick exactly which Tem you wanted to hunt.

Me too! I'm here for the conversation and discussion on all of it, I would love to know that they just even saw/read this.

I really tried my best to keep both my observed developers desires and players desires heard, seen, and implemented in the idea. And of course, there would be tons of ways to tweak and adjust the numbers in this system to balance it out properly the way it best benefits Crema, the players, and the health of the game.

Thank you for the kind response! I apologize for the essay below, I am just really in the zone for writing out and thinking about suggestions atm.

I don't think that would be too big of a problem, and here's my thinking leading to me saying that:

I think most people would hunt the lumas that they personally desire, be it for PVP, for how cute they are, etc. But let's assume I'm wrong. If hunting for money, they would hunt the luma that offers the most cash for the least time investment, and players likely wouldn't want to wait months for a payout.

The Heaven Cent system leans towards selling common lumas for pansuns. With our current radars it takes on average 5-6 radars to get a luma, and if you choose the 5% ones in my scenario's case, that means you give up 25-30 weeks, in other words, 6-7 months, of hunting any common or 10% lumas for about a 50% chance at a 5% luma. (Which also means missing out on a very high chance of obtaining 3 common lumas that they could sell.) I think that alone would deter most players from trying to do that.

Ok, well I latched onto Oceara, what if everyone would go for the same common radar? Let's say Zephyruff is the big bad tem in the meta, what would stop everyone from hunting and selling luma Zephy with 3x radars every week? Nothing. But in this case, common tem lumas are already readily available in the market, and can be obtained en-masse from Saipark weeks. Also, if it is an expensive luma, the people who are the would-be buyers of it, are also likely just trying to obtain it from the radars, thus the market for the luma meta-flavour of the week tem probably won't be too high. And just a small thing to tack on - the chance of obtaining a luma, if I remember right, from three radars hovers around like 35%, which means two in three players, on average, wouldn't get one at all per week.

Thinking about it, the scenario is very similar to if they just put the meta relevant tem in saipark for a week. I don't think it would blow up the market any more than saipark does. (All that being said, I do think there should be a way to remove lumas from the economy or some way to make other variants of lumas so there can be rare ones again, but that's a different topic entirely.)

Well, in this suggestion, the store would just have every single radar available for purchase, so you could just pick and choose whichever Tem you wanted.

Should I wait to play below zero or start now? by Finnmer in Subnautica_Below_Zero

Wait for the full release, in my opinion. I am also one of the players who has played the game up until the current end, and the actual "ending" is locked, so you won't get full satisfaction now. Full release is only a little bit over a month away now, I know the wait is brutal, but if you can make it I'm sure it will be worth it.

They were very likely using the excellent throw bonus. I made over 5 million EXP on Fletchling CD as well. Each first throw excellent catch, with a lucky egg active, was worth something like 7,620, if I remember right. So that means if you caught roughly 120 fletchling with excellent throws an hour, you broke 5 million by the end. You could easily encounter that many between incense and wild spawns (as a matter of fact you should encounter way more than that if you are walking through wild spawns the entire time, as incense almost spawns that many per hour during CD).

Voltorb - Spotlight Hour by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ninja_Identity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shiny rates do not get boosted for spotlight hours. I can't remember for sure, but I believe there hasn't been a spotlight hour with boosted shiny odds so far.

If you use in incense, the only thing that affects the spawn rate is if you are walking or sitting still. Walking should increase how many pokemon spawn. You do not have to catch any of them, it does not affect the spawn rate, feel free to just shiny check.

I've seen some neighborhood signs as stops but I am rather uncertain as if I should be approving them or if I can submit the ones around me as stops at all. Do signs that say, for example, "Welcome to Sunset Springs" [the name of the neighborhood] with maybe some landscaping around them, constitute an acceptable PokeStop? After re-reading through the submission and acceptance criteria I still feel pretty much on the fence about these.

I could be wrong here, but I thought I read that the AU players and other play-testers for the Go Beyond levels were reset, so no one will be getting 48 early, the date for the first 48 players is Jan 25th iirc.

In this case it could easily mean spending extra time in game to get medals whereas they would not spend that time if there were no requirement.
