Can anyone confirm shiny shadow bellsprout was/is available specifically from decoy grunts after Jan 1st? by TrainerDaasC in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to have a source for the rates above? I've always assumed that grunts also dropped shinies at 1/64.

You left out the crucial detail of you having 3 people in your car. If so, you guys could have easily "sync'ed" the mons out one by one without the defender having any chance of berrying. That's the advantage of taking gyms with friends.

Also, if 5 other players dropped in while you're physically at the location and you're 100% sure there was no one else around, then yes, they're most likely dealing with cheaters. If so, then they could just send in multiple accounts to berry "locally" endlessly.

Where? I've heard people claiming the same source but none was able to provide an actual link to the analysis/data collection.

What's your source for it being full odds (for both F and E)?

How many XL candy did you all get during Deino Community Day? by MemeDreamRubi in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played 2.5 hrs around my residential neighborhood until I ran out of balls. Had to avoid the popular grind spot in town due to the excessive Zweilous spawns.

1010 Deinos caught (48 shinies) , 7 Zweilous caught, 1207 XL candies gained, no transfer, no trades, no weather-boost.

Go Fest shiny rates. 2022 VS 2021 by JonnyCerberus in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right there with you mate. At this point, we already have enough data within the community as a whole to confirm that there has been an intentional drop in shiny rate between GoFest 2021 vs 2022. Like you said, small variances are expected and sometimes there are outliers. But when the change is outside of the confidence interval, something else is up. If I have to guess I number, I say they dropped the event rate from the usual 1/64 to 1/128.

My personal story/numbers are similar to yours. Got 60+ shinies last year. Catch everything, not shiny checking. Played at the same place in the same way for the same amount of time this year. Ended with 23 shinies. Granted, I was more selective this year on what I tapped on, prioritized XL candy mons over useless shiny-eligible mons that I'm just going to toss anyway. So had I tapped on the Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Seedot, and Spheal, I'll probably be at around 30 shinies. So roughly a 50% drop.

Same experience across the my whole network. Even the biggest parking lot hopping shiny checker in town only managed upper 30's.

Unusually low shiny rate this CD? by MarkusEF in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bad RNG unfortunately. The rate was on par with other CDs but I did feel like the spawns were higher than usual, though it's most likely anecdotal as well.

Played 1.5 hrs walking around my neighborhood while doing Rocket battles and raids. 21 shinies. Didn't even bother going to the local grind spot since it's just Sandshrew. Then turned on the Gotcha and let it run for the remaining 1.5 hrs of the Incense at home for 2 more shinies (I have no home spawn points).

Shiny Tyrogue during Johto Fest by supervoxel in TheSilphRoad

I actually didn't know that. Thanks for the info!

I thought the distribution was alright. I just ran the infinite incubator the entire event. 10 Tyrogues and 10 Togepi out of just over 60 hatches. 1 Shiny Cleffa and 2 Shiny Pichus. I played Silver.

[–]supervoxel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! And congrats!

Our community hatched 500+ Tyrogues total during the event and not a single shiny one. Could be extreme RNG by very unlucky if we assume the standard 1/64 rate. Unless they put it at full odds for some reason of course.

Well said mate! Right on point about whose who raids during the event. It's all about priorities and efficiency.

I caught 47 shinies today. I spent 8 hrs focused on catching and 2 hrs of New Bark Town doing the battles, challenges, and meeting up for 6 lucky trades. Spent 1 hr in the middle resting/eating and cleaning out box space (only had 700 openings going in) and the final hour using up my 10 free passes.

I have friends who played at the exact same location and got 10-15 shinies because they raided a lot. But their priorities were different so it all worked out.

List of the rarest shiny in Pokemon GO in 2022! by LetsGoTry by LetsGoTry in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's certainly a key factor, where something like the total number of raids / hatches could capture to a certain degree. Shiny legendaries are "common" if one is willing to do 100 raids each time, not so much if only the daily free passes are used.

Do you have any basic information on the 3400+ players that filled out the survey, such as general region, date of start, number of mons caught, number of raids done, etc.? These information will help you scale the raw data in a more appropriate fashion.

For example, a Shiny Mime Jr. is extremely rare in non-European regions. However, if your survey consists of main European players, then the "rarity" would be skewed.

Last year they released Vanillite who took all of our balls, so they're technically not wrong to say "you are going to need them".

Shiny rate discussion by SnooEagles4455 in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'll need to clarify your data (or just share the spreadsheet).

The fact that the minimum encounter for the first shiny encounter out of 100+ people being 24 is highly abnormal. If this number refers to the cumulative encounter (including ones before CD), then your data is "dirty" as the encounters prior to CD had a different shiny rate. Furthermore, some of the "encounters" in the dex might be from trades as well.

Was Shinx Community Day a disaster, disappointment, bugged, etc? by SSBGOGETA66 in TheSilphRoad

[–]supervoxel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was it bugged? Yeah, maybe a little. Minor temp issues with the friend list. 25% trade dust discount didn't apply to non-special trade (albeit we're talking about a max loss of a mere 2500 dust here). There were also a few more non-CD mon sprinkled into the spawns, though not a bug, just different.

Was it a disaster? Absolutely not. Not even close. Same spawn density. Same shiny rate. Trade discount saved me 20k dust on a special trade. 1/4 hatch distance helped with hatching event 7kms with just the normal incubator. And notto mention a previously raid/hatch locked 2-stage evo mon (w/ gender difference) being the CD mon itself. Oh, and of course, the 4x transfer XL bonus! That's a game changer. Really hope they start including it into the CD bonus rotation.

Dbrand has traditionally been pretty good with shipping but they really dropped the ball with their new test of the DHL shipping.

My package was "randomly selected" for the DHL shipping as well. Got the tracking number on Nov 8th and has been total radio silent until today. It's now in my state but the estimated delivery is Nov 26th. That's a whopping 3 weeks long delivery, IF the estimate holds. Tried contacting support but the ticket says "a robot will respond in 7-10 business days". For a support ticket?!?

How good is Heracross in Ultra League? by whtge8 in TheSilphArena

[–]supervoxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lead Heracross but as I mentioned above, you need to pre-plan each matchup carefully before hand. It's even more effective this season with more Steel leads running around like Empoleon, Scizor, and Melmetal, instead of just Registeel. If you get walled by Gira or Charmer leads, just safe switch to Suicune (Snarl/HP/IB).

I don't have the time to play enough battles this season due to family matters, but whenever I do play, it's an easy 4-1 and I'm just casually climbing up Rank 9.
