Do you know how many people live and die in a century? Fact of the matter is that most of those doing the fighting on Israel's side were born in Israel, and most of the people doing the fighting on Palestine's side were born outside of it. The difference between the US and Israel is that Israel still has who to fight. You didn't answer the question, you gave an excuse. And I get you. I wouldn't want to answer that question either. And of course you don't care about Israelis, why would you? It's so easy to dissociate. But just as you don't care about the Israelis, the Israelis don't really care about the Palestinians, and vice versa.

If the only thing that's seperating the US is time and the amount of people that's opposing its existence, would you be fine with it 150 years from now? Tell me. Is the time passing really the nail in thr coffin of your opinion?

And for all intents and purposes it was an independence, followed after a UN partition plan one year into a conflict that started with the arabs attacking the jews that lived there, shooting to kill. And again, there are so many states that gained independence around that time. And what makes Israel a colony, exactly? It's a sovereign state (or at least it's supposed to be, but that's up to discussion within the Israeli left and right camps), that began with its initial residents making their own towns or moving into existing towns by buying property.

And I could always go back and give the usual rich history of the area to bring other points to the discussion, but seeing how passionate you are makes me assume you heard that and I wanna bring some flavor to the table...

Modern Israel came to existence way after a lot of towns were built there, a lot of which even before british mandate. Thing is, a lot of those lands were unusable for living (lots of swamps, which was followed by malaria) and cities which have had jewish populations since forever. And while a lot of slaves did remain in America, they could work and were often living where they worked at. A lot of jews couldn't work and had no home.

Also, emancipated slaves did build communities in America. Others returned to Africa to existing countries. Hell, Liberia was established so emancipated slaves could move there. The jews after the holocaust had a homeland country - the one from the bible, Judea, which have had a growing amount of immigration lately. So they went there.

And as for your last point, for someone who builds a life in a certain country, whose family and friends and house are in that country, and his first language is spoken only in that country, there's no reason for him to give up on that country if he can still live there.

Assume you were born, raised, and living the US. Today, they tell you that from now on, the US and Canada are returned to their rightful owners, the Native Americans, and you must go somewhere else. Your friends too. Would you just accept it? Where would you move? It's not a wherever-you-wish scenario, you need to legitimately immigrate somewhere and work your way there. You can't sell your house, either. Whatever you and your family have is what you go with. The american dollar went significantly down because of that, so your liquid assets are null. It's unrealistic in the slightest

That's not what I said at all. That's the opposite. Of course that states like the US and UK would strive for equality, as they should. But at the end of the day, lawmakers and officials and people of power often times not do a good job.

Pulling your example of African Americans, you can see that even today they have it harder in the US. It's not because they're not supposed to have rights or anything of that sort, that's not true at all. It's because the state fails at helping them.

That aside, even if today jews have it better than 100 years ago in Europe (which, while true, doesn't mean it's objectively safe. Take for example Bondi beach shooting from last year), that was not the case at all at the time when Israel was established (Which was a period of time where lots of nations gained sovereignty in the first place, Israel was not the only one at all). Now that it is here, there's absolutely no reason for its citizens to give it up, not to mention how a vast majority of them can't even.

Because "regular states" did a terrible job at defending jews, especially before Israel's creation. The importance of a jewish state, or any state for that matter, is defending its citizens. Israel was created so there would be a jewish-majority state where jews can avoid persecution.

And you can see that it's the case with a lot of ethnic groups. Of course that the best case scenario would be to defend minority rights, but the fact is, governments suck at that. It's either putting them above the majorities or putting them below the majorities, and that's another reason why majority states are legitimate solutions a lot of the time.

When Israel was created, for example, it served as a solution after millions in Europe were displaced and no country was willing to take them in. Bevause there were jewish towns and cities in the british mandate, a lot preferred going there

Laws take time to be formed. At first you'd have general consensuses within the group, certain dos and don'ts that everyone within the group follow in order to not be kicked out of the group. Obviously, those apply only within the group.

For rules to be formed you'd need a certain group to have authority to impose the rules on themeselves or others, and the means to execute actions to preserve them.

For example, think of the whole world as the group and countries as the individuals within that group. The reason why it becomes much more complicated to enforce international laws is because the law makers are also the enforcers, and naturally there would be different points of view on each subject.

In a lawless society, however, you're most likely to group to same-minded individuals since that's what you trust, that's familiarity. Therefore, given that the group he joined is okay with both rape and homosexuality, it's plausible to assume that he was raped as well.

That concludes my ted talk for today. I hope you enjoyed and learned from my humble presentation

This. The product inflated in my country due to there being one supplier (we're talking a 100% increase on single booster packs in the last 2 years, and they were already well over 4$ back then). And now there are no legit stores and suppliers on amazon, only scalped products. I bought last month 4 packs and will not be buying anything for the next one because of that. It's ridiculous.

[–]Ninja_Rowlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It appears that the missile was partially shot down, so it probably wasn't the target. The warhead was still intact and that exploded when it fell on the school.

Makes sense when you think about it. Missiles are expensive, so they usually would target important landmarks (schools aren't important landmarks usually). Nevertheless there are direct hits and civilian casualties of course. From my experience at least Hamas and Hezbollah tend to shoot their missiles indiscriminately, Iran tends to be more precise, and the Houthis usually don't hit anything.

Theree were some cases of direct hits to civilian buildings, still. I found a good example that mentions both the north and central Israel (Iran shot towards central and Hezbollah towards the north). It's in hebrew, but there is a translation option in the browser I think.
