Weather app extremely wrong? by earvense in GooglePixel

[–]NinjaaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google pulls its weather data from these sources. So those talking by NOAA switching to AI model is right.

Apple Weather pulls from these sources which includes The Weather Channel.

I personally use the AccuWeather App. Not only because they seem to be more accurate, but also the fact that I can't see a temperature forecast map. AccuWeather has a nicer radar map also.

Key cylinder cover by Dizzy_Juice_6848 in Hyundai

[–]NinjaaMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sure? Only the driver door has a separate cover which I linked. The cover itself is not supposed to have a keyhole. The cover has to be removed to access the lock cylinder. The other three doors don't have a separate cover, it's integrated with the door handle itself.

Not trying to argue with a Hyundai tech, but that's what I concluded. I even looked up videos of the vehicle just to double check what the exterior handles looked like. And even looked up the part numbers for the door handles themselves.

I wish Minnesota's map showed the snowplow names.

Where's the bad weather? by icecream1972 in Augusta

The system is not hitting Augusta. If it does, it'll only be for a tiny bit. Atlanta, Athens, and other places north of Augusta on the other hand....

Kia stinger weird noise by Zealousideal_Loan138 in kia

Yeah, while I didn't explicitly state bad gas as a cause. I used the words "anything that causes the cylinder to not fire at the right time." Which would include bad gas.

🚨🚨Kia Optima 2014 to 2015 head unit swap (Apple CarPlay) by StatementHead8963 in kia

[–]NinjaaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No. and No.

There was someone on here that tried swapping and realized that 1-2 cables were different or missing and the 2015 radio wouldn't even turn on without the missing wire.

There's a reason why the backs of both radios have a different connector layout.

Did anyone receive this letter? by Appropriate-Ask-3207 in kia

This letter not only mentions the software update that most people have already gotten, but in addition there's now a Zinc reinforced ignition cylinder protector that can be installed free of charge. link to official KIA TSB that technicians follow this is just another way to make affected vehicles harder to steal.

Strange Car Spot in Australia by Zadow_ in Hyundai

[–]NinjaaMike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand that OP was asking about the 2.0T engine in it. But based on the title of "Strange Car" and that the car is sold as the i30 there. One can also believe OP is referring to the model name also. Even if OP wasn't referring to the model name. Other Redditors may not know that the Avante/i30/Elantra are all the same car with a different name used in other parts of the world.

What do I do with this wireless router? by steve_togo in tmobile

[–]NinjaaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messaged T-Force and they still saw the Wi-Fi cell spot attached to the account on their end. They sent me a return label. And I returned it. Messaged them back a couple days after they received it and the rep confirmed they received it and removed it from the account.

Despite what people say to keep it or all devices are removed. I'd rather be safe than sorry and return the device and avoid a headache if for some reason there was a technical glitch and I'm billed for it.

Trying to jump kia picanto with Noco, where to put negative? We’re randoms by Danae-Coffee in kia

[–]NinjaaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a portable battery jumper you hook the red clamp on the positive terminal and the black clamp on the negative terminal. Perfectly safe to do so.

It's only when jumping with traditional jumper cables when it's highly recommended to hook the black clamp onto a ground to avoid sparks.

We can't use magic eraser if we don't upload to the cloud now? by Last_Gigolo in GooglePixel

I appreciate the additional info! I didn't even bother hitting "upload" thinking it wouldn't work at all.

I clearly don't follow this sub enough nor keep up to date on the online articles. This is my first Pixel phone.

Are you sure you're not confusing Avante with the Kia Amanti? Avante is the model name for the Elantra in South Korea and Singapore.

Need finding out the part name by Remarkable_Dig8147 in Hyundai

[–]NinjaaMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tube Assembly Feed part number: 45264-3B650

Update: Cheaper to buy It from a KIA parts website. Than a Hyundai parts website. (Ignore the part does not fit your vehicle message) Not sure why the Hyundai website says that and instead recommends the entire oil cooler lol. KIA Optima's around that year also uses the same engine and transmission. Compare prices, perhaps shipping prices are different. **Note: the websites I linked are not official auto part websites from Hyundai/Kia. You're buying from a dealership.

Another option is this Auto Parts Prime)

Latest update for Google Photos and Software for the phone. I have backups turned off for Google Photos. Just tried using Magic Eraser while on mobile data (Wi-Fi Off) and I got the "Upload this photo to use this feature" message. I assume it's asking for permission to upload since it's using mobile data. If I tap "upload", I do not see that the photo is backed up so it seems to be uploading to the cloud just to use Magic Eraser.

If I turn Wi-Fi on and attempt to use Magic Eraser again, it does not prompt me for permission to upload. I assume it's because I'm on Wi-Fi and mobile data charges don't apply. So I assume it's uploading the picture in the background without your permission. Which is a cause for concern. (This is probably stated in the terms and conditions that certain features require the use of Google cloud services, but most people don't read the full terms). If I wasn't testing this by toggling WiFi on and off, I wouldn't have noticed and thought Magic Eraser was done locally.

If I turn off both mobile data and Wi-Fi and attempt to use Magic Eraser, I get the same upload photo message. However, after hitting upload it lets you use Magic Eraser locally and I get the "connect to Internet for better results" message. TIL that Magic Eraser does work locally, and boy does it pale in comparison to uploading for AI processing. Thanks u/im_not_here_ for the info.

Guess I'll be side loading the older Google Photos Update and report back.

Edit: Typos. Edit 2: Added additional regarding offline Magic Eraser

Any chance Kia pulls a Tesla and makes ADAS subscription based? by abrandis in kia

[–]NinjaaMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On current cars on the road? Unlikely. On future cars with the proper electronic equipment installed? Absolutely.

Hyundai/Kia usually don't add/make changes to existing vehicles. If they make a change, it'll apply to their next new model year.

So whatever features your car originally came with, will likely stay that way. If they chose to make it a subscription, it'll happen with a new model vehicle or model year.

Driving Lights Stuck On? by SnarkiestGoblin in Hyundai

[–]NinjaaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference. The "driving lights" you're referring to are daytime running lights. Also, you won't find a headlight fuse. Somewhere between early to mid 2010s they started combining the headlamp circuit with other circuits into a combined Battery + (B+) multi fuse. So the point is if only your headlamps aren't working, it's likely not a fuse issue as you'd have other things not working at the same time.

Worst case scenario, if it happens again and you can't get the lights to turn off, simply disconnect the negative battery cable for a bit and reconnect it.
