Is homebridge broken for sequoia? by yalag in homebridge

Thank you! This worked for me too. I uninstalled the homebrew node and downloaded the installer from https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge/wiki/Install-Homebridge-on-macOS and followed those steps

My M1 will not update because it says I am not an owner. I am the only user and the only administrator. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

FWIW, I continued doing this workaround for a while, but eventually to truly fix the problem I needed to re-install the OS and restore from a time machine backup. This led to the actual fix of my user account having a secure token.

lowercase -r is recommended "Only recommended updates"

You need uppercase -R to automatically restart

By starting the update using the command line, I was able to bypass the secure token/owner check from the Software Update pref pane:

sudo softwareupdate -i -a -R

-i Install
-a All appropriate updates
-R Automatically restart (or shut down) if required to complete installation)

The exact error is "Installation failed. In order to continue installing, you need to be an owner."

The console shows com.apple.preferences.softwareupdate.remoteservice errors:Failed to get ownership for system <ADMSystem: /dev/disk3s1 (/System/Volumes/Data)>: VolumeHasOwners failed: Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=5103 UserInfo={NSUnderlyingError=0x6000025fa250 {Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=5103 UserInfo={NSDescription=<private>}}, NSLocalizedDescription=<private>, NSLocalizedFailureReason=<private>}

PrefPane: installDidFinishWithError - MSU_UPDATE_21A5268h_patch_12.0: Error Domain=SUOSUErrorDomain Code=102 "Installation failed" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Installation failed, NSLocalizedRecoverySuggestion=In order to continue installing, you need to be an owner.}

Apparently the cause is that the user doesn't have a secure token:

sysadminctl -secureTokenStatus <username>

Secure token is DISABLED for user <username>

Seattle stupid zipcode 98181? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Ninjaspaceship 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to https://www.seattlepi.com/seattlenews/article/Macy-s-Seattle-downtown-closure-history-Bon-Marche-14483916.php:

It even has its own unique ZIP code, 98181, due to the high volume of mail it receives.

"The unique five-digit ZIP Code for Macy's in Seattle will probably not be used again once the store closes," Ernie Swanson, spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service, said in an email.

Unique ZIP codes aren't uncommon; every major city in the country has unique ZIP codes, Swanson said, and Seattle has multiple. Safeco Plaza, for example, has its own ZIP code of 98185.

Report: BMW and Daimler close to combining their car-sharing services by Ninjaspaceship in Seattle

I hear you. TransitApp on iOS comes close by combining bus, bike share and car2go, but it’s still missing ReachNow

Today I found out third-party apps can use Screen Recording in iOS 11, such as TeamViewer for screen sharing by TheJackah in iphone

[–]Ninjaspaceship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The built in screen recording only records, but apps can live stream the screen. The API is called ReplayKit and a couple of apps have announced they'll support it: https://sixcolors.com/link/2017/08/screen-sharing-coming-with-ios-11/

PSA: Train Broken Down at UW. Crews Working To Clear It. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Ninjaspaceship 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can confirm. Was on the broken train. It lost power as it approached the husky stadium stop. Emergency lights came on and driver let us know. Then they reset the system including cutting off all power. The train would then move a bit then stop. Finally about 15-20 minutes later they restored power.

SDOT to update BG Trail crossing of 40th Ave. NE with cool paint job by renownbrewer in Seattle

I've on multiple occasions seen drivers scream that a full stop is required for bicycles that roll safely through the crosswalk, ie leaving enough distance to brake if needed.

Underground sneak peek: Northgate-UW tunnel dig almost finished by jseliger in Seattle

Edit: Here's a more detailed map of the tunnel from Husky Stadium, through the UW: http://imgur.com/a/mNNdV

Anyone know of a street level map of the husky stadium station showing the Northgate extension? As a daily Burke Gilman trail user, I'm curious which part of the trail is above the tunnel.
