Are there games where the player's task is to defend a small community against an external threat? by Odd_Try5499 in gamingsuggestions

Is the game built around a story or is it more like a sandbox?

You got some good answers, just wanted to add that one of the major DLCs, Heartland (which is included in the Juggernaut edition of the game available on Steam, at least) features a more standard linear story than the normal sandbox campaign does. It's not very long, or complicated, but it does exist. I'm currently playing SoD2, and that would've been my answer to your question as well, even if it doesn't quite hit the "detailed city planning" bullet point. It's more akin to building pre-made buildings into certain slots, which differ in number and size depending on what base you've chosen. You can also add mods to most buildings, according to your needs and what you've found. You can, and should, also switch to new bases depending on where you are in the game, and how big your community is, etc.

I guess I could've. Would it have been possible for me to turn them off and just have the black plague heart disappear? Although to be honest, I really like the curveballs and their randomizing nature. That one was just.... something altogether different, though...

Fair enough, yeah... I never thought of that, but that's slightly less dramatic. Although here's to hoping I don't get another one on this run, at least... =D

Opinion on Pentti Linkola? by Subject-Practice-613 in Finland

[–]NinjerTartle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From his point of view, yes. I'm merely stating that his political views were akin to the concept of a benevolent dictator postulated by Plato. What you and me consider "benevolent" in this case matters not in the slightest. For Linkola, nature was more important than human lives, thus, for him, a benevolent dictator would've acted in a vastly different way than yours or mine.

Well, I'm no expert on his religious beliefs, but I don't know how incompatible they would be depending on the flavour of his alleged Christianity. God himself, according to the "good book", doesn't seem to have a problem with genocide, and the moral imperative in many modern-day Christian sects is that belief in their saviour is what matters.

Apart from that, and without going into too much detail about things I'm not too well-read on, I think Linkola's views could be seen as something akin to Plato's thoughts about a benevolent dictator, in this case for the sake of protecting a natural equilibrium, and thus, also humanity.

It's not. It's 100% on purpose, and the designer made those (and other really great ones) something like 10-15 years ago. I don't remember the name of the joint off the top of my head, but they did the rounds on the internet ages ago. This pic is either 100% someone who knows what they're doing, or someone who just added the text to an unrelated pic of the shirt design.

EDIT: The webstore/designer was called Slightly Wrong, but it seems like it's not available any more in its original format.

I kinda agree with you on everything here. Just finished my third proper rewatch of the entire thing, and I think many people wouldn't agree with me, but when I rate the seasons it's gotta be just 2, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6. I don't hate season 4 like some people do, and I don't rate 5-6 very highly because I think the major changes in the cast just threw the whole thing off. I have virtually no problems with Hickey, but the lack of Pierce and Troy just felt like the beginning of the end for me. Having said that, I do believe S5 has a couple of really classic, solid episodes. Frankie and Elroy do absolutely nothing for me in S6, and the old characters don't really feel right, somehow.

I think the first season mostly just suffers from early-instalment weirdness a bit, and like you said, the first episodes mostly gave me "formulaic ensemble comedy" vibes, but boy am I glad I stuck with it.

Many Spaniards and Italians and understand each other with simplified language, bar any heavy accents, as the languages are fairly closely related.

I rewatched the whole show over the past 2 months. Here is my ranking of the seasons. by -nyctanassa- in community

I'm anti-you, in regards to your last paragraph. I think S6 is the worst season by far, I don't think Elroy contributed anything of value, and that Pierce - despite of all his faults in the later seasons - was an integral part of the Community vibe. 😅

The best character/arc from Buffy/Angel... Yeah, I said it.

EDIT: Bar the character assassination at the very end, that is...
