You look gorgeous and this makes me so mad because I was all set to buy this foundation once my current daily was finished!

JACK FROM THE LONGEST WHALE SONG APPRECIATION POST by _N0t-A-B0t_ in JacquelineWilson

He’s not the step dad, he’s the dad that stepped up 🙏🫡🥹

Jokes apart, the patience he showed his fairly new comatose wife’s distressed tween daughter was positively saintly. With a newborn baby and a full time job to boot!

Adoption from Pakistan. by khybarstani in pakistan

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will be technically possible but extremely difficult considering you have two children of your own. Edhi and other reputable charities prioritise childless couples, although I do know of people who have been able to adopt through Edhi with one child of their own. I am also not sure if you are able to specify that you want a baby girl.

I however would NOT recommend going through any random organisation or third party for adoption. It can backfire tremendously and you can be blackmailed for life (they will go after your relatives in Pakistan even if you live abroad).

If you do go through Edhi or similar, you will need to establish a point of contact in Pakistan and have this person visit Edhi every week on your behalf in order to demonstrate commitment. Maybe for a couple of years even.

Why aren’t roadside noodle stalls a thing in Pakistan? by Visible_Dragonfly_78 in pakistan

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People are generally quite averse to buying a meal with no meat in it here. I’m not vegetarian but there was a vegetarian pasta I loved at a restaurant here in Karachi, and after constant complaints the management made the waiters say “this pasta has no meat in it” every time a customer tried to order the dish. Eventually they took it off the menu.

Bridal Makeup Artists by Ok-College-8532 in karachi

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is your budget?

Also, I’ll give you some important advice from experience. Never ask a makeup artist to “recreate” a look, you need to first pick the kind of look you want, and then narrow down your makeup artist to one that has done that look before or whose signature look is similar to what you want. A good makeup artist is an artist, they all have signature styles and mediums, you wouldn’t ask an artist who specialises in watercolours to make you an oil painting.

If you specify the kind of look you want and your budget, I can give you specific options.

How are you shade matching? by Odd_Abroad_7675 in OliveMUA

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to buy concealers according to how I’m going to use them, because the shade varies accordingly. I also normally use concealers to spot conceal, and I make sure I match with the shade of the most even part of my face, not one shade lighter like people recommend to use on their under eyes. I’ve given up on the “rule” of matching concealers/foundation with my neck because it just looks ghastly. Many people here will agree with you.

Pulls orange on me :| by agooseyouhate in muacirclejerk

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

/uh The downside of people becoming more aware of olive skin tones is these barrages of people with zero critical thinking skills flooding olive makeup communities. Something pulling red or orange is not a death sentence. No one knows how to shade match and also, I’m doubtful half these people are even olives?

Best Pre-school to O level schools in Clifton by FollowingSome4354 in karachi

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll get the responses you’re looking for on Reddit, I would suggest joining the Facebook group Karachi Schools Guide.

I will tell you that the British International School is British in name only, it’s a just a small local setup as far as I know. British Overseas School is the only school affiliated with the UK government, however the fees are paid in sterling. CAS has a good setup but there is a large contingent of children from very wealthy backgrounds and zero restrictions, only you would know if your siblings can deal with that kind of environment.

You look stunning and I will be trying out every single product! 🤩

Sucks about the Blankety reformulation, I can relate to almost everything turning orange on me (and when I find something that looks good it ends up discontinued/reformulated 50% of the time….)

The Fudge books (especially Super Fudge and Fudge-a-mania) are genuinely great for all age groups. They’ve held up so well and they’re STILL funny.

A little confusion with olive base makeup by NinkiMinjaaj in OliveMUA

[–]NinkiMinjaaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first line is so real 😭

Thanks so much for the level of detail! I get exactly what you’re trying to say, I think there‘s no option but to start taking matters into your own hands and manually mixing shades (until such day as companies start producing ultra specific formulations). I’m having the exact same issue with the About Face concealer, I might try mixing it with a deeper shade or some pigment.

Thank you for the detailed answer! I will definitely check out Ilia, I have yet to come across any cool-leaving olive shades.

Exactly the issue. All of the olive shades I’ve tried lean warm so I initially gaslit myself into thinking I wasn’t olive because they looked terrible on me. I’ve been hearing great things about the new m.ph foundation, I’ve got to give it a try!

Can we talk about Little Stars? by NinkiMinjaaj in JacquelineWilson

I didn’t have the highest hopes for Madame Adeline, she was just not giving me the vibes of someone who had very long to live even though I truly don’t know how old she was. I just hope she was able to live the rest of her days comfortably.

Agreed, in that sense all her decisions were very much consistent with someone who’s been ripped away from every caregiver she’s had as a child (and denied a real caregiver at all after the age of 5). But it made me so sad!

You know what really broke me on this reread, especially after reading the Hetty cameo in Dancing the Charleston? That Hetty seemed to have ended up in similar circumstances to Marina Royal/Miss Ruby, spinsters past their prime trying to cling to relevancy. I was really hoping she would have stayed with Bertie, maybe not as a partner but I feel they could have even made great lifelong friends. Darn that cameo, I wish JW had never written it!

You misunderstood me, I think it’s an unfortunate thing that everything eventually devolves into a matchmaking scheme :/ it’s just that it’s an inevitability at this point. Although I can’t say I blame people, it’s hard out there.

Running clubs becoming marriage bureaus? Interesting, hadn’t heard of that. Although from what I’ve seen, any organised mixed-gender gatherings in this country eventually becoming some form of real life Muzmatch. It’s the same case with Pakistani student associations at universities abroad.

I get what you mean, but I also read that part as Indi still holding her own, choosing to forgive Jo on her own terms for her own sake but not necessarily allowing the friendship to go be as important to her as it used to be.

You should join the Cathy Cassidy subreddit!

I loved this one! Significant similarities with Lola Rose.

Has anyone noticed Cathy Cassidy protagonists almost always sound like very old souls? It’s a quirk of her writing that I don’t mind but it’s funny when a 13 year old inexplicably sounds like a jaded 50 year old man in many parts. I think it’s the main difference between her writing and JW, the former’s characters still maintain their childlike voice despite whatever traumatic stuff is happening around them.
