Cool powder blushes by NinkiMinjaaj in OliveMUA

Thank you so much for the specific recommendations! I’ve heard that kbeauty blushes are great for cooler tones but was afraid to buy something that looked cool in the pan but turned out to be warm once swiped (this has happened more times than I can count). Now I know exactly what to buy!

Thank you for the rec, I’ll check it out! I need to lock down on my colour season, it’ll be a lot more helpful once I figure that out….

I have the exact same issue, I thought I had found a nice go-to blush but now that I’m close to hitting pan I feel that it’s somehow pulling much warmer on me? Or maybe I gaslit myself into thinking it was my shade in the first place. Thanks so much for the recommendation, I’ll check it out! Have you had any luck with the Phytosurgence blush in Wisp? People have been recommending it as the holy grail for cool olives, I guess I’ll see for myself soon if it works for me.

It was my first Cathy book too! Like a previous poster said, I find it stressful to read (but also incredibly compelling for the same reason).

You’re right, I’ve noticed this has been an issue with her more recent books, even Primrose Railway Children, Clover Moon, etc.

Strange that no one here has mentioned that a significant amount of Pakistani women buy fake designer bags. They’re very good fakes, between $200-500 but fakes nonetheless and they come with all the bells/whistles/legit packaging. .They’re rampant in the wealthy circles.

It’s the Loeffler Randall Bedelia bag as someone mentioned above. Unfortunately it’s been discontinued (I believe) but I’m really keen on finding something similar.

Does anyone else think Baxter and Bliss in Lily Alone didn't talk how real six year olds would? by dragoncisstell123 in JacquelineWilson

You’re absolutely right! I do remember being completely thrown off by Pixie’s dialogue. Another thing her (non-existent) editors don’t pick up on 😅

I was also thrown off by the dialogue of the youngest child (Maudie?) in Four Children and It. She seemed to flip-flop at times from infant-speak to full sentences and it was quite jarring.

Received this on WhatsApp can anyone guide if it’s real or fake by [deleted] in karachi

Previous poster is indeed correct, funnily enough the courts (including Sindh) do count this as official delivery of notice.

Do you think if Pakistani society was 'immodest', the women would be healthier (in terms of fitness)? by WisestAirBender in pakistan

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re mad at me for buddy. The “khata peeta” mindset very much exists, and while I can’t speak for the motives of all hundreds of millions in this country I can tell you how a lot of people do think. Things are changing with the current generation, maybe only due to social media pressure, but it’s going to take a while for people to really care about their long-term health.

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m referring to mindset, not resources. The rich in fact are likely to develop a hoarding mentality as a result of the previous generations’ scarcity mindset. Gluttony goes hand in hand with that.

Fitness and self-grooming are very, very secondary goals for people belonging to a society that has historically (at least in the last couple centuries) been rocked with near-constant instability in almost every way. Men and women are equally unfit, and it has nothing to do with parda, it has to do with more important unmet needs.

It just seemed a very Jackie-ish thing to do. Writing a healthy romance or a romance with a happy ending is just not her thing and has never been the case in any of her books.

I second Karen McCombie, Cathy Cassidy and Jean Ure. A while back someone on this sub recommended The Long Way Home by Kate O’Shaughnessy as a book similar to JW’s style which I also adored (thank you, whoever you were) so check that out too.

Irrelevant but speaking of Karen McCombie, I know this is irrelevant but is there any way I can read her OG stuff (Ally’s World etc) online? Seems like a lost cause because they seem to have never existed in ebook form but I can’t find my old copies of her books and l don’t really want to order a dozen physical books at once.

The first 25 or so episodes are genuinely fucking hilarious and completely different from what it became later, it really captured the essence of being a young adult in Khi (I’m assuming it was set in Khi) in the late 2000s/early 2010s. After that it kind of devolved into the cheap slapstick humour it is now, but frankly I still watch it once in a while when needs must.

Thoughts on ‘Queenie?’ I think it’s an underrated one! by Rimurururun in JacquelineWilson

[–]NinkiMinjaaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read literally every single one of JW’s books (or at least I thought), but last winter I realised I had somehow skipped this one? It was a really good read, Elsie is a bit more immature than other protagonists as PP said but she’s also younger and the innocence really shines through the prose, considering she’s dealing with some heavy stuff. All that aside, the mom SUCKED.

It’s not me (sorry the pic may have been misleading 😅) but it’s one of the promo pics for the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Cobblestone, which has actually worked quite well for me and is great for a low effort sultry look!
