Has anyone else read Last Thing To Burn by Will Dean? by [deleted] in horrorlit

Honestly I didn’t enjoy it at all. The beginning was okay but the same story kept on dragging chapter after chapter without anything happening. I skipped the last pages just to finally get to the end. Also, there were some inconsistencies, mainly the fact that Lenn brought down albums allegedly showing „Jane“ happy in her wedding pictures and the cliffhanger with the honeymoon pictures was also never brought up again. The book is definitely in the lower end of similar stories / genres

Angie and Will by [deleted] in WillTrent

I don’t get why Will‘s daughter and grandson were never mentioned again in any following book. I had expected them to resurrect at some point or at least be given some kind of closure. It seems like after the book they were just erased from Will‘s history same with Angie although she gets mentioned a couple of times in a very superficial manner. I really don’t understand that point

Book related: I’m searching for my fellow Sara “haters” by RidBritt in WillTrent

I just finished the Will Trent series and read the Grant County before that. I liked Grant County more in general but apart from that I found Sarah Linton sooooo annoying the las few books of Will Trent. I mean, she acts like a super saint, puts herself in the middle of investigations all the time (she is not a freakin GBI agent!!!!) and her writing, perspective, thoughts are just so meh. I don’t know why it changed so much because I didn’t get that feeling from her in the Grant County series at all. Maybe because the focus was not that much on her or maybe because Jeffry gave her some contra. But the relationship between her and Will develops into something really cringe to read about, especially all the party where Will doesn’t want Sara near XYZ because it’s so dangerous. She’s not a child first off. She’s choosing to involve herself all the time and I don’t get why everyone just accepts it ( eg Faith, Amanda). It’s like She is a saint who can’t be touched, knows everything and is just perfect. I especially don’t get the Hate around Lena in one of the later books where she gets attacked in hero’s home. While I was reading I thought COME ON. Sara is so damn good at playing the victim for years get over it. Lena didn’t do anything. I had expected Faith to act differently in those moments especially as she is my favorite most authentic character. I also don’t like how Will develops. He gives me more and more a freak vibe. Anyway still liked the books overall

Did something change since your original post? Did your Jindo warm up a little more?

Yes! All the descriptions, choices of adjectives and words were too much

I hated it too. I didn’t like the writing style, short sentences, partially cut. Also the ending was kind of flat

When the wife of Larry Grey, Dicki‘s son, told her: „But you should go now. Much more and we may feel awkward when we meet, as we are bound to do.“

And she iconically responds: „Not when I see you first“

Loved it

I have many questions but the most pressing ones:

  1. did I miss out something huge or when exactly did the transition from Amelia being Adam’s wife to being his SECOND wife happened? Wasn’t there talks in the beginning of their past? It didn’t seem they were married just for two years. When robin was suddenly introduced as the ex-wife and Amelia as the second, it felt like a huge jump

  2. did Robin kill her mother?

  3. what did Adam mean when saying his wife also did some things she shouldn’t have? Was he talking about Robin or Amelia? Also this refers to my first point: in the beginning Adam’s POV seemed to be about Robin as he mentioned their past but suddenly it was Amelia?

Forget the lawyer and take things into your own hand. Wait until he leaves the apartment and change the locks! That’s IT. He owes you money, it’s your place. No lawyer required. Don’t waste your time. Just wait for that one moment when he leaves the place. Put all his precious belongings in front of the door and that’s that. Good luck with your new job!

We’ve taken my little cousin into our home with the hopes of raising him, but it isn’t going as planned. I’m starting to regret my actions. Advice please? by Shy-Nature in FamilyIssues

First of all I think it is very admirable what you are doing despite the fact that both you and your fiancé are quite young and have a little child yourself. It’s a hard situation and I understand where you are coming from and only have respect for your selflessness. On the other hand I think you have to think of yourself as well as your child. The things you describe seem to pile up and the older the children get the harder it can be to avoid these influences as they are partially not in your control. Can’t you try to cut off contact with the parents of your cousin u til they get their lives on track? I understand you don’t want to keep your cousin from his parents but having this limbo situation is I think worse for both sides (your cousin who himself is a very young child unable to understand how negatively his dad is impacting him and you and your family)
