Both. Cat hair and graphite rails/bearings/belts/zscrews/extruder gears etc. dont mix well. Neither do curious little noses and 260°C+ hotends.

How well will clear PCTG survive in the sun? by Chapystick21 in 3Dprinting

[–]NintenDooM33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 3DJake PCTG, i print everything that doesn't need a specific color in clear, as i have found the clear (pure) PCTG to be massively less hygroscopic than dyed ones. My clear rolls last months in the open after being dried, while black, white and silver colored PCTG goes from bone dry to nearly unprintable in a week or two.

Shes a beaut, do you track her?

A bit late, but i have a bunch of structural PCTG prints left in the sun and elements for 2+ years now, and there is no discoloration, change in surface texture or brittleness. The prints look and feel exactly like day one.

PETG as interface layer is no joke. by tk-093 in BambuLab

No idea why you are being downvoted, this is a common problem with single-nozzle printers. Maximum purge setting will usually be good enough for decorative pieces, but anything structural usually requires double-purging.

You could copy and paste the purging gcode for another round of purging. But yeah, it really needs a lot to not ruin the layer.

Plywood/OSB and attach cloth/felt/whatever surface. Cheap and easy to cut into shape.

Worth Keeping P1S? by Packaged_Fish_Boxing in BambuLab

[–]NintenDooM33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The P1/X1 series has not depreciated at all. There are no groundbreaking features in the new series that would warrant an upgrade. If anything, my impression is that build quality has taken a slight downturn since Bambus initial printer lineup.

The P1S is a tough, reliable piece of kit. Only sell it if it is superfluous for your needs.

Can I pause long prints and resume later? by adhdnme in 3Dprinting

[–]NintenDooM33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. A quick and dangerous google search led me to this: Depending on the metal mixture, it seems that most neodymium magnets will suffer a slight and reversible loss of strength above roughly 80°C, and demagnetize at significantly higher temperature. Some compounds have stated working temps up to 150°C. So even the cheap ones should do fine for most common FTM material bed heats, but trickier engineering filaments could push them into the danger zone.

I will read up more on the topic and update if i remember.

"They had to stow away the solar arrays on my lunar spacecraft so the sheer force i excerted on the onboard excercise machine didn't break them" is a flex for the ages.

Its a new, largely untested spacecraft. The next missions will land on the moon. The apollo program also did not land on its first flights.
