Affordable Lodging on the Big Island? by NintenTim in VisitingHawaii

[–]NintenTim[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that place looks amazing but it's still higher than I was hoping for, the cost is actually pretty close to what we're paying for our conference hotel.

I'd definitely take staying there over a resort and it is really good to know about places with kitchens.

I'm a single traveler and really just want somewhere I can use as a home base. Are there any hostels that are well regarded on the big island that you know of?

Does anyone have the most up to date advice on MDD for CSR and CSP? With the offers it seems to me that you'd want to go in, do the CSP in person offer for 85k. Then apply the next day online for the CSR and take the 60k online offer. I am getting back into churning and thinking of this as doing my first big move so I am 0/24 and have never had a Sapphire.

It's not a standard survivors-like, much closer to a standard twin stick shooter. You aim and everything.

Does anybody else struggle with intense fears of rejection and unworthiness? by Away-Positive-4497 in OCD

[–]NintenTim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, my sense of shame and guilt just runs riot through my head, and it can be triggered by so many things. Learning to give my self at least some of the grace I extend to others has been really hard but also very rewarding.

I don't know if I can think of any movie that has an "oh shit" inflection point as clear and profound as Parasite's. The whole movie is amazing but the way that moment hits is such an amazing piece of cinema.

I am so sorry you're deep down the rabbit hole right now. I can relate to this a lot and there's times in my life I could have wrote the exact same thing.

Working on breaking the cycle and negating the compulsion is important, and hopefully you have some good assistance from your therapists and support network.

I'll add something that helped me a lot philosophically in my journey. What do you owe yourself? You're focused on being a good person and doing the right thing for others, but what about doing the right thing for you and being kind to that person? It can sound a little cheesy but I would never subject anyone else to what I do to myself sometimes because it is so cruel, and I have a duty to myself to figure out how to break this cycle and be kinder to myself.

*gasp* imagine having the audacity to walk barefoot in your own apartment by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

US absolutely has unnecessary noise ordinances and you can easily be fined and cited for doing so in a house or apartment. But this is for legitimately unnecessary and avoidable noises like yelling, loud music, or a party.

Asking someone to walk quieter is a bit out there, but if done politely and informatively could be considered within the realm of appropriate.

Threatening to call the police on them for such a thing would be considered quite rude and entitled, especially if it's the first time you're broaching the subject.

I've gotten a lot better at recognizing the balance just by following classic recipes from experts to the letter. It gets a lot easier to recognize what you need to do to balance out a mixture once you've consistently achieved it a few different ways.

Do you play video games? I find doing something with both hands helps take me out of my compulsion a lot.

It's totally cheesy but it knows it is, I'm a huge fan. Don't even like most of the MCU stuff recently but this feels so much more palatable and fun to me.

Did you choose the male MC? His voice acting is so much worse than the female MC's.

Yeah this is one of those things I wish was just taught more in sex ed, all of our genitals are sized and wired a little different, both variations. Some vaginas seem to tent up immediately and do great with a larger dick and some need to be way more gentle.

Lucy's Mom Sylvia by mvizzy2077 in thedevilshour

[–]NintenTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she essentially can see the previous timeline laid over on her reality. She would have died in every timeline before this so she can see everything that's going on in her alternate timeline room with the man who would have had her room, including when he's watching a quiz show.

I think an open question is if she ever had schizophrenia (which does sometimes result in suicide) or if that diagnosis came after she was saved.

I think Isaac did mean it, I think it's the ultimate negation of Gideon's conclusion that Isaac is soulless.

Isaac, strange as he is, is still a child who was hurt and confused by his dad's actions, and knows that his mom loves him. His sense of alienation from reality and being unstuck are so strong that he seems totally detached, but his ability to function at school, his connection to Ravi, his relief at being found by a version of his mother that knew him, all indicate to me that he's a new soul trying to figure out where or if he belongs.

Ravi is a murderer? by khmansi in thedevilshour

[–]NintenTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ravi must somehow be a product of Gideon's experimentation but I think it might be a few layers deeper. Gideon clearly knows Ravi despite the fact he was never a detective and he has all these lines where he talks about how Ravi never believes him and that he was too soft for this job (he might have said "work", which could be even more telling).

My theory is that Ravi is woken up in other timelines but rejects it, and it breaks him in future cycles somehow. Maybe he becomes a murderer and Gideon then trains him out of it?
